Description
BODY CLOTHING THAT SENDS TENS CURRENT TO ACUPRESSURE POINTS
Technical Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a smart menopause suit in the form of a wearable textile product that is capable of massaging acupressure points and that is created to be used in the field of obstetrics and gynecology of health sector for the purpose of eliminating problems including hot flashes, sweating and palpitations experienced by women during the period of menopause.
The inventive menopause suit combines acupressure technique which is one of the techniques utilized in complementary medicine with a wearable textile product having sensors and wearable nano-sensors.
PRIOR ART
As it is well known, approximately 70% of women experience hot flashes and stress during the period of menopause and these problems usually last between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. The reason is that changes occurring in estrogen levels affect the body's ability to regulate the body temperature. While the problem of sudden rises in body temperature is observed daily in 80% of women going through menopause, 20% of women experience heat flushes more than 10 times a day and this may last for 4 to 10 years. Therefore, these sudden rises in body temperature aggravate the lives of women.
Every year, many developments occur especially in the field of medicine around the globe for coping with menopause. In the Committee Opinion issued by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2013, it was stated that
percutaneous hormone therapies are much better when compared to hormone administrations carried out perorally. The article written by Dr. John Studd published in "The Lancet" which is the most famous medical journal around the globe described the development of achieving hormonal balance by using intranasal spray administration. Additionally, several studies are being conducted in the field of medicine for delaying menopause.
Alternatively, various different approaches including relaxing, wearing appropriate clothes, exercising, keeping a balanced diet may be adopted in order to prevent hot flashes. Women going through menopause are usually advised to opt for cotton or linen clothes and to wear thin and multiple layers of clothing. Another alternative is to regulate the body temperature by means of exerting pressure to correct acupressure points.
Acupressure, namely, acupuncture pressure points on the human body, is an Asian Body Care Therapy (ABT) having its origins in ancient Chinese medicine. Acupressure is based on the basic concept of chi an it is the energy which flows through lines called "meridians" in the body. Specific points which may allow altering the energy flow of an individual may be present on these meridians. In respect thereof, solutions for regulating the body temperature during the period of menopause are provided by means of exerting pressure to correct pressure points. In the state of the art, various massage clothes have been designed for the purpose of massaging acupressure points.
Chinese patent application numbered CN101548931 and titled "Massage Clothes" discloses massage clothes comprising massage blocks corresponding to acupuncture points and a controller for controlling the action of the massage blocks. Said massage blocks are compatible with the neck, shoulder, back, waist, abdomen and perineum. Said massage block may be a vibration
motor, a heat massage block or an electrical stimulation massage block.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Differently from smart clothes known in the state of the art, the present invention is a wearable textile product comprising of sensors which are positioned in a manner that they correspond to acupressure points and pulse oximeter.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is a body clothing with fiber optic sensors that are connected with pulse oximeter as a modulator in a manner to correspond to correct acupressure pressure points and to provide these pressure points with TENS (Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation) current which is an electrotherapy method used for analgesia in diseases manifesting acute and chronic pain.
The working principle of the present invention involves conveying infrared light signals to be used as the information source of the pulse oximeter which will function as a modulator by means of fiber optic cables which are connected with the textile product as a carrier source to sensors that are connected to these cables and creating TENS current by converting light energy to electrical signals through fiber optic sensors located therein. In the present invention, the oximeter also functions as a processor.
In an embodiment of the present invention, pulse oximeter to which the wearable textile product is connected is in a finger type battery-operated configuration. In addition to conventional oximeter, clamp-like portions which are attached to the user's finger are connected with a soft silicone finger
chamber structure in order to provide further comfort to user's finger. Silicone finger chamber is configured to cover the lower and upper clamp edges of the oximeter like a frame. Pulse oximeter displays and records the user's body temperature. Thus, the user can switch the activity period of the massage clothing on or off based on the body temperature monitored through the oximeter. Since the oximeter automatically turns itself off, the user's safety is ensured.
In an embodiment of the wearable textile product, bottom piece and upper piece are designed to be separate from one another and to be made of a flexible and magnetization-proof fabric. Since the wearable textile product is configured to be of a bottom piece and an upper piece, it may be used either separately or as a suit. To be able to activate the bottom piece and the upper piece separately, each of them will be provided a turn on switch.
DE TAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
It was observed that TENS current is used for stimulating acupressure points which affect the energy flow, thereby changing conditions inducing pain. Concurrently, massaging acupressure points revitalizes the skin and creates anti-aging effects .
In an embodiment of the present invention, the inventive product consists of fabrics having fiber optic sensors that will correspond to acupressure points and that will provide TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) current and particularly burst TENS current to these points. Body clothing is created by means of attaching fiber optic sensors to cotton fabric as separate parts. Fiber optic sensors are interactively connected with infrared lights that are present in the oximeter attached to the middle finger.
Since the inventive body clothing's sensors corresponding to acupressure points provide TENS current oriented to the respective organ, they ensure that the user becomes relieved in a short span of time. Relieving duration is minimum 30 seconds because of the fact that acupressure points are organ- oriented, and they follow meridians.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the inventive body clothing is comprised of a fabric having fiber optic sensors in its entirety. In another embodiment of the present invention, the fabric constituting the inventive body clothing can be created by being woven with fiber optic threads.
As the oximeter will be attached to the user's middle finger during use only, the user will be protected from long-term radiation exposure or magnetic effects. The reason why it is attached to the middle finger of the user is that the one third of the middle finger constitutes the anger point. Pressure massaging the anger point for 30 seconds allows the user to become relieved.
While the oximeter is massaging the middle finger with burst TENS current for 30 seconds, fiber optic sensors will massage acupressure points for 30 seconds. The device will automatically turn off after 30 seconds. As the oximeter will function with two items, the user will be in control of the device. Having 3 or more 30-second massages daily will relieve the user. As these 30-second massages given to acupressure points are of meridian pass, organs are affected directly and when the user has these massages on a regular basis, stress will be eliminated completely.
In an embodiment of the present invention, to be able to activate the bottom piece and the upper piece separately, each of these pieces will be provided a turn on switch. Thus, as the bottom piece and the upper piece can be activated
separately, the user can operate these separate pieces individually .
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the upper body clothing is designed as a tunic in a collarless shirt form and to cover the hip portion.
