Description
REMOTE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THE PERSONS
HAVING IMPAIRED HEARING
Technological Area:
This invention is related with remote communication system and method for the persons having impaired hearing that provides remote communication for the persons having impaired hearing in their social lives with the persons who do not know sign language.
Background of invention:
At the present time, sign language is a communication type that is used very often by the individuals having impaired hearing. In daily life, the individuals having impaired hearing are not able to communicate without sign language translator while getting service in institutions such as bank, hospital and municipality or without sign language personnel in these institutions. Due to this reason, various softwares and applications have been developed to provide communication with the other people for the individuals having impaired hearing.
The main logic in the applications in available systems is to use operator. Handicapped individual makes a video connection to an operator and that operator understands handicapped individual and vocally transmits that to the one that is wanted to be connected. In such case, communication is based on the operator and it does not pave the way that handicapped persons speak with other people without an intermediary. For these reasons, time is lost when handicapped individuals try to communicate, in case that handicapped persons want to call hospital or police; it is being exposed to various communication losses. This also can lead serious problems.
In the applications those have been developed for the individuals having impaired hearing and those are used at the present time, various apparatus are used such as gloves
those have been designed for the individual to sense movements. It also makes these persons dependent on such apparatus. Hence, it increases costs and also it is prevented to use the application in all cases. In the patent application with edition number GB2422449,“The Translation Software to Sign Language from Text for PCs and Embedded Platforms (such as mobile phones and ATMs)” was expressed. The invention explains a program for converting written text to sign language on X86 Personal Computers and embedded devices (such as mobile phones and ATMs).
In the patent application with edition number DE102010009738,“A System Translating Speaking Language to Sign Language for the Individuals Having Impaired Hearing”, was expressed. With the purpose of providing communication without translator and to make speaking language be translated to sign language, the invention consists of a system establishing communication with its database.
In above mentioned patent applications, sign language translation applications were also taken into consideration. In mentioned applications, in general, the inventions those have been included into a specific system, were expressed. These types of systems do not provide opportunity for users to use these applications under normal conditions.
As a result, a new technology that can overcome above mentioned disadvantages, and that provides communication between the persons who do not know sign language and the individuals having impaired hearing from long distance (via telephone), that can transmit sign language image as sound and that can transmit sound as image, that ease lives of the individuals having impaired hearing, and that is practical in use and has a low cost, is needed.
The Invention Definition:
This invention is a remote communication system and method for the persons having impaired hearing that can overcome above mentioned disadvantages, its characteristic is
to be a new technology that provides communication between the individuals who do not know sign language and the individuals having impaired hearing from a long distance (via telephone), that can transmit sign language image as sound and that can transmit sound as image and that ease lives of the individuals having impaired hearing and that is easy to use and has a low cost.
In order to realize all the purposes those are obtained from above mentioned ones and below detailed expression, the invention explains an application making communication easy between the individuals having impaired hearing and the individuals who do not know sign language and providing opportunity for a synchronous communication and a one on one communication with their environment.
As it is known, learning sign language requires a specific education. The invention eases communication between the individuals having impaired hearing and the individuals who do not know sign language. In addition to that, it also provides to make sound and text information that are delivered to the other party in a more serial way. The product which is the subject of the invention, with its design, provides communication between the individuals who do not know sign language and the individuals having impaired hearing from a long distance (via telephone). In the product which is the subject of the invention, the image of sign language is delivered as sound to the persons who do not know sign language with various transformations and special technics. The sound of the individual who does not know sign language, is transmitted to the individual having impaired hearing as an image. The product which is subject of the invention, eases the life of the individual having impaired hearing. The structure and design of the product which is the subject of the invention, is practical. The product which is the subject of the invention is advantageous in terms of its design and cost.
Owing to that the parts of forming the invention, are fixed on each other easily, it is easily installed and thanks to its short montage period, its cost is low. Besides, the invention has a durable structure.
