Abstract

The present invention relates to a cooking container group enabling preparing Turkish coffee in a beverage maker product currently available in aircrafts used in civilian passenger transportation.

Description

A COOKING CONTAINER GROUP
The present invention relates to a cooking container group enabling preparing Turkish coffee in a beverage maker product present in aircrafts used in civilian passenger transportation.
In aircrafts used for civilian passenger transportation, the quality of the offered food and beverages have a significant role in preferring an airline. The compartments in which such caterings are prepared are called galleys and the appliances such as ovens, coffee machines, refrigerators, ice makers, espresso machines and the like, which are custom made for galleys are called inserts. Rapid operation, lightness and minimal energy consumption are some of the principal design objectives of these inserts which are obliged to comply with challenging aviation standards.
Almost all beverage makers used in aircrafts can be assembled and disassembled easily and rapidly to the electrical and water systems of galleys. Inserts for preparing beverages in aircrafts have connections to three-phase 110 VAC electrical energy with a variable frequency of 380-800Hz, a water line with a pressure of 2,5 bars, a data line and a waste water outlet connection, all with galley access.
The variety of beverage preparation machines used in aircrafts can be listed as:
  • machines making solely filter coffee;
  • machines making filter coffee and tea;
  • water heating machines also making filter coffee and tea;
  • espresso machines; and
  • machines making espresso and cappuccino.
Airline companies may prefer different beverage maker insert configurations depending on the flight routes on which they operate their planes, such as flying with inserts making solely filter coffee on flights to United States but preferring inserts at least capable of making tea and coffee on flights to China. In addition, airline companies do not prefer keeping an insert which would be used seldomly on a flight destination, due to reasons such as the limited number of insert compartments in galleys, and weight and total power restrictions. This poses a major obstacle against offering certain delicacies such as Turkish coffee on aircrafts.
There is no appliance capable of automatically making Turkish coffee among currently available aircraft inserts. Only Turkish Airlines serves Turkish coffee on its flights for Business Class category, which are prepared by manually mixing coffee with hot water.
Due to the fact that an appliance capable of making Turkish coffee is not present among aircraft inserts, the aim of the present invention is to create a cooking container group adaptable to current beverage makers (beverage maker products).
The cooking container group of the invention enables preparing Turkish coffee in a beverage maker in aircrafts, and comprises
  • at least one outer cooking container of a container structure with dimensions enabling fitting thereof to a coffee filling compartment of a beverage maker , and when positioned on the base of the filling compartment where a heater is disposed, of a length almost enough to reach a filling port provided on the ceiling of the filling compartment through which the prepared coffee is poured, and having an outer cooking container opening on its upper surface through which the coffee pouring from the filling port of the appliance can enter, enabling access to its inner volume,
  • at least one inner cooking container of a container structure with dimensions suitable to be positioned inside the inner volume of the outer cooking container , having an inner cooking container opening provided on its upper surface corresponding to the outer cooking container opening, enabling the coffee poured through the filling port to fill into its inner volume, and a pouring lip extending through its lateral surface from its inner volume to beyond the outer cooking container , suitable for unloading the coffee filled into its inner volume, and
  • at least one handle fastened to the outer cooking container suitably for a user to grip.
In an embodiment of the invention, a lid is provided, suitable to cover the end of the pouring lip exposed beyond the outer cooking container to prevent overflowing through the pouring lip.
In an embodiment of the invention, an overflow volume is provided between the lateral surface of the outer cooking container and the lateral surface of the inner cooking container, to collect coffee in case of overflowing.
A traditional beverage maker is provided with a coffee chamber in which filter coffee is placed, a carafe in which brewed coffee is collected and a locking latch constricting the carafe. The system is enabled to be securely locked in the appliance by the locking latch. The user places coffee into the coffee chamber (drawer) and locks the system with the locking latch. Then, filter coffee begins to be prepared. A heater with low power is provided below the carafe. In the version of the current beverage maker to be adapted to prepare Turkish coffee, adapting the water nozzle design and the heater for Turkish coffee is enabled by the carafe being replaceable with the cooking container group of the invention.
The constriction required for full contact between the cooking container group of the invention and the heater is enabled by the locking latch. A cooking container larger than traditional Turkish coffee cooking container structure is used in order to overcome the likely coffee overflowing problem due to cooking process of Turkish coffee. The heater and the cooking container are constricted by the locking latch. In addition, a low power solenoid is used. The solenoid is used to disconnect contact with cooking container by pushing the heater downwards and to prevent coffee from overflowing. IR sensor is used in the beverage maker. Turkish coffee cooking sensor "Cook Sense" can be uncomplicatedly placed in the present construction.
