It is also possible to use the modulation unit 5 to guide the combined energy beam 8 along a writing path 19. For example, by directly influencing the position and the energy or intensity distribution of the combined energy beam 8, the modulation unit 5 is adapted to“guide” the combined energy beam 8 along a writing path 19 comprising sharp corners 20 or edges, for instance.
