Description
The present invention relates to a washer comprising a foldable shelf mechanism for items such as glasses and bowls.
In addition to domestic type dishwashers used to wash dishes at the present day, there are also dishwashers with lower capacity and mainly for the purpose of washing daily dishes, which are mountable on a wall or placeable on a counter. Essentially, the aim of such machines is washing daily dirty dishes.
There may be regions which are not utilized effectively on upper interior portions of such a machine due to loading preferences of users. Likewise, there may be loads such as glasses or cups which a user cannot place on a basket due to limited available loading space thereon but which the user considers being washable if placed in the machine.
When the loads which cannot be placed on a basket but desired to be washed, are placed in such a machine, they may remain outside the washing area or the washing water which should reach such dirty items may be blocked by another load.
The United States patent document no. US2014352743 (A1) mentions a spraying mechanism placed in an inner body of a dishwasher, which can be turned on and off by control of a driver system. To that end, a secondary nozzle arrangement is introduced to a washing chamber.
The aim of the present invention is to realize a washer comprising a shelf mechanism on which a user can place loads such as glasses, cups or mugs which he/she fails to place on a basket due to lack of space thereon. Said shelf mechanism can be applied to mini-dishwashers, to wall-mountable dishwashers and to conventional dishwashers, and thus facilitates non-standard load placement.
Another aim of the present invention is to realize a washer comprising a shelf mechanism which can be folded when not desired to be utilized, which thereby does not occupy space in a washing chamber.
The washer of the application comprises a main body, a washing chamber provided in the main body, having two side walls, a rear wall and a base, at least one nozzle provided on at least one of said walls and connected to a water line provided in the main body for washing the dishes, a coupling bracket provided on at least one of the walls on which at least one nozzle is disposed, and a shelf mechanism pivotably connected to the coupling bracket, comprising a shelf on which compartments are provided for placing the items to be washed thereon.
Said coupling bracket comprises a first body and, coupling pieces connected to the first body and provided vis-a-vis such that there is space in between. In an embodiment of the invention, at least one of said coupling pieces comprises a hole with a diameter through which a shaft can pass. In another embodiment of the invention, a shaft is provided on at least one of said coupling pieces, extending towards the other coupling piece. In another embodiment of the invention, one of said coupling pieces comprises a hole with a diameter through which a shaft can pass, and a shaft is provided on the other coupling piece, extending towards the opposite coupling piece.
Said shelf mechanism can be pivotably connected to the coupling piece by fitting into the space between the coupling pieces. Said mechanism comprises a second body having two side edges and a shelf provided on the second body. In an embodiment of the invention, a shaft is provided, extending from at least one of two side edges of the second body, to the hole disposed in at least one of the coupling pieces. In another embodiment of the invention, a hole is provided on at least one of two side edges of the second body, having a diameter through which can enter a shaft provided on at least one of the coupling pieces. In another embodiment of the invention, a shaft is provided on one of two side edges of the second body, entering into the hole provided in one of the coupling pieces, and a hole is provided on the other side edge, into which enters a shaft provided on the other coupling piece.
At least one seat is provided on a face of the second body. When the second body is pivoted in between the coupling pieces, bringing the shelf from a position in which it is parallel to the base to a position in which it is perpendicular to the base, said seat corresponds to at least one nozzle provided on one of the walls of the washing chamber, and inhibits water flow through said nozzle by covering the nozzle.
A coupling bracket is provided, fastened by means of coupling means (e.g. by bolts) or by being adhered or by alternative ways, on at least one of the walls on which at least one nozzle is provided. In its most basic form, said bracket comprises a first body and, coupling pieces connected to the first body and provided vis-a-vis such that there is space in between.
Said coupling pieces enable a shelf mechanism to be pivotably connected to the coupling bracket. In an embodiment of the invention, at least one of said coupling pieces comprises a hole with a diameter through which a shaft can pass. In another embodiment of the invention, a shaft is provided on at least one of said coupling pieces, extending towards the other coupling piece. In another embodiment of the invention, one of said coupling pieces placed vis-a-vis, comprises a hole with a diameter through which a shaft can pass, and a shaft is provided on the other coupling piece, extending towards the opposite coupling piece.
The coupling bracket can be placed in various positions inside the washing chamber. In an embodiment of the invention, the coupling bracket is fastened on at least one of the side walls of the washing chamber. In another embodiment of the invention, the coupling bracket is fastened on the rear wall of the washing chamber. In another embodiment of the invention, the coupling bracket is fastened on the rear wall and on at least one side wall of the washing chamber. In an embodiment of the invention, the coupling bracket is fastened on at least one side wall and/or the rear wall of the washing chamber so as to rest in between the lower basket and the upper basket (not shown in the figures) provided in the washing chamber.
The washer of the invention further comprises a shelf mechanism pivotably connected to the coupling pieces by fitting into the space between the coupling pieces. In its most basic form, said shelf mechanism comprises a second body and a shelf provided on the second body
The shelf mechanism may be connected to the coupling bracket in alternative ways. In an embodiment of the invention, a shaft extends from at least one of two side edges of the second body, entering into the hole disposed in at least one of the coupling pieces. In another embodiment of the invention, a hole is provided on at least one of two side edges of the second body, having a diameter through which can enter a shaft, and a shaft provided on at least one of the coupling pieces enters into said hole. In another embodiment of the invention, a shaft extends from one of two side edges of the second body and enters into the hole provided in one of the coupling pieces, and a hole is provided on the other side edge, and a shaft provided on the other of the coupling pieces enters into said hole.
In an embodiment of the invention, at least one seat is provided on a face of the second body (Figure (8). When the second body is pivoted in between the coupling pieces bringing the shelf from an open position (i.e. a position in which it is parallel to the base ) to a folded position (i.e. a position in which it is perpendicular to the base ), said at least one seat provided on the second body corresponds to at least one nozzle provided on one of the walls of the washing chamber , and covers said nozzle, inhibiting water flow through said nozzle.
The shelf mechanism pivotably connected to the coupling bracket can be brought to a folded position when not in use, and thus does not occupy space in the washing chamber when brought to the folded position and does not inhibit placement of other loads (Figures 1-2 and 7-8).
When said shelf mechanism is not used and brought to the folded position, it inhibits water discharge through said nozzles by mechanically covering the water outlets i.e. said nozzles. By this, water is not discharged through the nozzles when the shelf mechanism is not used, thereby not reducing the flow rate and pressure of the other nozzles, i.e. the nozzles (not shown in the figures) provided on a spray arm and/or on another position connected to the same water line (Figures 1-2 and 7-8).
Said shelf mechanism may also be kept in open position when it is not used, i.e. when items such as bowls, glasses etc. are not placed thereon. This enables the loads placed on the lower basket and/or the upper basket (not shown in the figures) to be washed also from various angles (Figures 5-6).
The shelf provided on the shelf mechanism may be produced in different types depending on preference. In other terms, the shelf may comprise compartments of different geometries so that the items such as glasses or bowls placed thereon do not fall down. The shelf may be produced from a material such as plastic or rubber in order not to scratch and to prevent from falling of the items placed thereon.
In an alternative embodiment of a washer according to any one of the above-embodiments, the coupling bracket is not fastened to one of the walls inside the washing chamber and is adapted to slide on a rail (not shown in the figures) provided on at least one of said walls. The shelf mechanism can thus be placed into and removed from the washing chamber.
The washer mentioned in the embodiments above may be a dishwasher, a mini-dishwasher, a wall-mountable dishwasher or a derivative thereof.
