The household appliance (1) of the invention comprises a control panel (2) enabling the household appliance (1) to be controlled by a user, at least one passive member (3) provided on the control panel (2), and at least one sensor (4) scanning the front surface of the control panel (2) and detecting user movements via the passive member (3) on the front surface of the control panel (2).
Description
The present invention relates to a household appliance controlled via an interface whose surface is scanned by a sensor.
Applications in which a household appliance is controlled using an interface, are present in the state of the art. Such control systems are provided with a projector reflecting image of the interface and a sensor detecting motions on a surface on which the interface is reflected, by scanning said surface. Such a household appliance is operated according to information entered by a user by means of the interface.
One of such state of the art applications is a range hood. In this application, the range hood comprises a projector placed thereon, and the projector reflects the image of an interface on a cooking range and on the surface where the cooking range is disposed. The household appliance is enabled to operate in line with user selections by detecting hand motions on the interface and sending commands to the household appliance.
State of the art international patent application no. WO2010135478 discloses household appliances controlled by means of interface images.
Another state of the art international patent application no. WO2015078642 discloses a projector mounted on a range hood and a household appliance operating according to commands entered by detecting hand movements of a user on a keyboard image reflected by the projector.
The aim of the present invention is to realize a household appliance enabled to be controlled via an interface.
The household appliance realized to achieve the aim of the present invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims, comprises a control panel enabling the household appliance to be controlled by a user, at least one passive member provided on the control panel, and at least one sensor scanning the front surface of the control panel and detecting user movements via the passive member disposed on the front surface of the control panel. The sensor enables detecting a user's movement on the front surface of the control panel to select a function desired to be controlled by means of the passive member provided on the control panel, which does not comprise any mechanical or electrical connection relating to operation of the household appliance, and the household appliance is effectively operated by evaluating this motion information.
The invention enables the household appliance to be managed and controlled via the control panel by means of a passive member although there are no mechanical or electrical connections.
The household appliance comprises a control unit operating by evaluating the information received from the sensor detecting user movements via the passive member provided on the control panel.
The passive member may be a button or the like. The passive member, e.g. the button freely rotates. Or the turn on/off switch does not in fact operate actively.
The control panel is provided thereon with passive members corresponding to all parameters related to operation of the household appliance, such as turn on/off button, temperature, ignition, position and the like.
In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the household appliance comprises an "L" shaped profile bending partially from the upper edge of the control panel towards its front side. The sensor is placed on the portion in between the profile and the facade of the control panel. Almost the entirety of the control panel's facade is thus scanned.
The passive member may be any indicator such as a rotatable knob, a push-up button and the like. The most significant characteristic of the invention is that said passive members do not possess any mechanical or electrical features for operation of the household appliance. Said passive members only act as an indicator to assist a user to select a correct function on the surface scanned by the sensor, enabling user movements to be detected.
The present invention enables a household appliance with classical appearance to be controlled by detecting user movements via passive members which act solely as indicators. The present invention further enables using a control panel by forming interfaces in various manners without disposing any mechanical or electrical connections on the control panel. In addition, since there are no active buttons on the control panel, labor and time is saved in terms of maintenance service by avoiding occurrence of mechanical failures. The external appearance of the household appliance is also improved by the control panel which can be given any desired shape.
A household appliance realized to achieve the aims of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of the control panel of a household appliance.
Figure 2 is a side view of the control panel.
The elements in the figures are numbered individually and the correspondence of these numbers are given hereinafter.

The household appliance (1) comprises a control panel (2) enabling the household appliance (1) to be controlled by a user, at least one passive member (3) provided on the control panel (2), and at least one sensor (4) scanning the front surface of the control panel (2) and detecting user movements via the passive member (3) on the front surface of the control panel (2) (Figure 1). The sensor (4) enables detecting a user's movement on the front surface of the control panel (2) to select a function desired to be controlled by means of the passive member (3) provided on the control panel (2), which does not comprise any mechanical or electrical connection relating to operation of the household appliance (1), and the household appliance (1) is effectively operated by evaluating this motion information (Figure 1).
The invention enables the household appliance (1) to be managed and controlled via the control panel (2) by means of the passive member (3) although there are no mechanical or electrical connections.
The household appliance (1) comprises a control unit operating by evaluating the information received from the sensor (4) detecting user movements via the passive member (3) provided on the control panel (2).
The passive member (3) may be a button or the like. The passive member (3), e.g. the button freely rotates. Or the turn on/off switch does not in fact operate actively.
The control panel (2) is provided thereon with passive members (3) corresponding to all parameters related to operation of the household appliance (1), such as turn on/off button, temperature, ignition, position and the like.
In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the household appliance (1) comprises an "L" shaped profile (5) bending partially from the upper edge of the control panel (2) towards its front side. The sensor (4) is placed on the portion in between the profile (5) and the facade of the control panel (2). Almost the entirety of the control panel's (2) facade is thus scanned (Figure 2).
The passive member (3) may be any indicator such as a rotatable knob, a push-up button, a screen and the like. The most significant characteristic of the invention is that said passive members (3) do not possess any mechanical or electrical features for operation of the household appliance (1). Said passive members (3) only act as an indicator to assist a user to select a correct function on the surface scanned by the sensor (4), enabling user movements to be detected.
The present invention enables a household appliance (1) with classical appearance to be controlled by detecting user movements via passive members (3) which act solely as indicators. The present invention further enables using a control panel (2) by forming interfaces in various manners without disposing any mechanical or electrical connections on the control panel (2). In addition, since there are no active buttons on the control panel (2), labor and time is saved in terms of maintenance service by avoiding occurrence of mechanical failures. The external appearance of the household appliance (1) is also improved by the control panel (2) which can be given any desired shape.
