Definitions

  • wire-guided accessories such as catheters
  • an endoscope valve which is configured to fasten to an input channel, generally known as a biopsy-working channel, of the endoscope to provide a sealed access to said endoscope
  • an input channel generally known as a biopsy-working channel
  • the use of a guidewire which is kept fixed in a desired anatomical region throughout the treatment period, is well known.
  • the guidewire is used to guide different wire-guided accessories, which can be replaced depending on the type of operation to be performed.
  • Figure 4 shows the variant of Figure 3 in a second operating configuration
  • the endoscope valve can have, similarly to what has been shown previously, a plurality of interspaces and a respective plurality of slots.
  • the sealing system 60 of the tightening body 21 is substantially a lip 51 which is configured to adhere, in use, to the sheath 42.
  • the lip 51 is axisymmetric, substantially conical, and coaxial with the axis Y.
  • the taper of the lip 51 faces the insertion channel 3 and protrudes inside the opening 34.
  • the lip 51 adheres to the sheath 42, preventing the passage of material m between the sheath 42 and the tightening body 21.
  • the size of the cavity 24 of the tightening body 21 is such as to create an auxiliary collection chamber inside the tightening body 21 itself. In this way, any material m pushed towards the proximal opening 22 of the tightening body 21 is collected in the cavity 24.
  • the tightening body 21 has a cap 52 positioned so as to close the proximal opening 25.
  • the size of the cap 52 is such that it adheres, in use, to the sheath 42.
  • the cap 52 prevents leakage of material m through the proximal opening 25 and towards the operator.
  • the cap 52 is cut laterally so as to allow the insertion, in use, of the guidewire 40 inside the respective slot 27.
  • valve 120 indicates a variant of the valve 20 shown in Figures 1 to 7.
  • the elements in common with the valve 20 maintain the same numbering and are not repeated for the sake of brevity.
  • the valve 120 also comprises a cap 70 which is configured to selectively close the proximal opening 25 (shown in Figure 11) of the tightening body 21.
  • the cap 70 has a central hole 71, as well as a notch 72 which puts the central hole 71 in lateral communication with the outside.
  • the notch 72 in the cap 70 is made so as to be aligned, in use, with the slot 27 in the tightening body 21 of the valve 120.
  • the sealing system 60 is interposed, along the longitudinal axis Y, between the distal opening 25 and the lateral slot 27.
  • the valve 120 also comprises a clamping system 80, which is configured to compress the tightening body 21, so as to keep each slot 27 closed.
  • the tightening body 21 can be made of silicone, which is a material generally used for medical devices.
  • silicone is a very flexible and poorly rigid material. Therefore, if a lateral slot 27 is present, the tightening body 21 tends to open. The presence of the clamping system 80 ensures the closure of each slot 27.
  • the clamping system 80 comprises elastic return means, which are configured to keep the tightening body 21 compressed.
  • the clamping system 80 comprises a C-shaped band (such as an open ring) substantially coaxial with the longitudinal axis Y of the tightening body 21.
  • the clamping system 80 is made, at least in part, of a metallic material.
  • the clamping system 80 is fitted around the tightening body 21.
  • valve body 21' can be made of an elastic material, such as for example silicone, whereas the locking device 221 can be made of a rigid material, such as for example a thermosetting polymeric material or metal or the like.
  • valve body 21' is axisymmetric and has a longitudinal axis Y' .
  • the valve body 21' has a locking housing 24' facing the outside of the valve body 21' through a proximal opening 25' provided at the proximal end 22' .
  • the locking housing 24IB is configured to house, in use, at least part of the locking device 221, as will be better explained below .
  • valve body 21' is made of silicone allows the valve body 21' to adapt and adhere more easily to the lateral mouth 7. Therefore, this entails ease of use, in addition to production cost- effectiveness .
  • the locking housing 24IB and the connection system 24IIB have passage areas greater than the diameters of the wire-guided accessories 41.
  • the locking housing 24IB and the connection system 24IIB communicate with each other, so as to allow the passage of a wire-guided accessory 41 through the valve body 21'.
  • the locking housing 24IB and the connection system 24IIB are coaxial with each other.
  • valve body 21' has a sealing system 60' interposed between the locking housing 241 and the connection system 2411.
  • the valve 220 has a plurality of sealing areas between the locking device 221 and the wire-guided accessory 41 and/or the guidewire 40 in its locked position, thus considerably increasing the guarantee of tightness of the valve during use.
  • the locking device 221 exerts a longitudinal pressure on the sealing system 60 of the valve body 21'; this allows the adhesion (i.e. the sealing) between the sealing system 60 and the wire-guided accessory 41 to be increased .
  • the locking device 221 can comprise a coupling system different from the flange 232, but however configured to fasten to the valve body 21'.
  • valve 20, 120, 220 comprises the tank 31, the operator puts the distal opening 26 of the tightening body 21 in communication with the proximal opening 33 of the tank 31 and puts the distal opening 34 of the tank 31 in communication with the lateral opening 8 of the endoscope 1.
  • the operator inserts the guidewire 40 and the wire- guided accessories 41 inside the insertion channel 3 of the endoscope 1 through the internal cavity 24, 224 of the tightening body 21, 221 and, if present, the tank 31 and/or the diverter 38.
  • the guidewire 40 is pushed through the insertion channel 3, out of the distal opening 5 and along a lumen of the patient. Then the operator fastens, in a known way, the guidewire 40 to a desired anatomical region.
  • any materials m pushed towards the exit of the endoscope 1 through the lateral opening 8 are collected in the collection chamber 32. In this way, both the leakage of material m and the pressurization of the tightening body 21 due to the accumulation of any material m are prevented.
  • valve 20 has a lip 51, a cap 52 (and the cavity 24 is possibly larger than the sheath 42), a greater adherence of the tightening body 21 on the sheath 42 is guaranteed, thus reducing the chance of material m leakage .
  • a valve 220 comprising a sealing system 60' provided inside the tightening body 21' and a sealing system 260 in the locking device 221 significantly increases the tightness of the valve 220.
