Technical Area and Current Situation of the Invention
Frost; is the phenomenon in which the water which is actively osmosis in the metabolism of the living organisms that exhibit a photosynthesis life, are crystallized by the negative outside effect that is more climatically active.
The current measurements and applications that are applied against frost are as follows;
Sprinkling irrigation: by starting from the top of the plant at a degree up to -2 °C , the outer surface of the plant is covered by saturating it with water and freezing the cooling negative air.
In this application, every area of the land is in the shape of a pond, and it is seen that due to the gravity of the water, the surface of the soil is also frozen.
Starw burning: it is the application of heating the cooling air in regions where frost risk is very intensive.
It is well known that this application involves environmental hazards. For this implementation the need for labor and labor costs could be faced.
Anti-freeze products available: With this application, the preservation of nutrient elements can be reinforced up to -2 -3 °C.
As this application area provides protection up to -2 -3 °C, it is limited and can be applied in greenhouses or relatively hot areas. Moreover, the storage conditions of these antifreeze products must be at 10°C and the products preserved at 10 ° C are difficult to apply when they are frosted.
There is also the use of a compound of the pyrimidine group, which is currently known but not yet applied in the field of agriculture, but in the field of medicine. It is supplemented with protein and developing hormones, researched scientifically, and is used as remedy for binding curing and renewing cell properties in bond breaks. This allows plants to be protected against frost up to -2 ° C.
As this application provides a protection up to-2 -3°C, the application area is limited and can be applied in greenhouses or relatively hot areas.
It is a frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) which consists of liquid fertilizers whose organic matter content is 45-55%, organic carbon content is 15-25%, total N value is 0.20-0.50%, total phosphorus pentoxide content is 0.01-0.03%, water soluble potassium oxide content is 0.20-45% and is supported by trace elements and enriched with scientifically proven active substances that increase frost tolerance. Especially in late spring frost or early autumn frost it provides the plant with resistance depending on its abiotic stress conditions. It occurs in liquid medium and as a result of natural weather conditions up to -9 C, maintains its activity for 10 days, which can be necessary and beneficial for plants.
The frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) can protect plants from cold and freezing temperatures of -9 °C when applied at appropriate dosages within the plant. When the data of the General Directorate of Meteorology in Turkey is examined, it is inevitable that plants get damaged or spoiled by 76% especially during late spring period when it is bloom time every year (MGM 2016). When economic damage is assessed according to the World Agricultural Organization (FAO) data, based on the production of hard and soft-core products to nuts, from vegetables to products whose roots and stems are edible, the cost loss caused by frost damage is 2.5-3 billion dollars up to 10-12 billion dollars which is considered as a huge loss for Turkey. Even though frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) was used, 65-78% of the test results were successful.
Provided that frost inhibitor is used, will the economical loss be prevented.
Free amino acids such as; aspartic acid, glutamic acid, asparagine, serine, glutamine, histidine, glycine, threonine, citrulline, arginine alanine tyrosine cystine valine methionine norvaline tryptophan phenylalanine isoleucine leucine lysine hydroxyproline sarcosine proline in a liquid mixture of amino acids, are mixed with
- Organic matter and organic carbon, macro elements; nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium,
- Micro elements such as; iron, manganese, zinc, copper, magnesium and boron,
- The pyrimidine group with cell-renewing properties: uridine (a cell wall renewal substance with elemental and colloidal bonds used in medicine, a ligament regenerator used to recombine broken ligaments in Alzheimer's treatment),
- The compound antifreeze protein (proteins from cold-living organisms),
- The spreading adhesive polyvinyl alcohol content.
As a result of frost, this compound within the plant reacts and balances the levels of lipid peroxidation (ROT) and its compounds of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide anion and increases CAT (catalase), POX (peroxidase), SOD (superoxide dismutase), APX (ascorbate peroxidase), GR (glutathione reductase activities) in leaves and reduces the response of the plant to frost tolerance due to abiotic stress conditions; thereby increases the resistance of the plant to frost stress.
To protect plants from cold, frostbite, and white frost, the frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) is micro sprayed to leaves, shoots, stems and roots. In this application the protection feature and level of each plant differs according to species and variety of the plant, its growing conditions, its nature and water content. Based on the official website of the General Directorate of Meteorology, the regional frost schedule and temperatures are examined and the frost time is determined. The liquid solution which directly penetrates into the cell metabolism is sprayed a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 36 hours before the determined frost time. By showing its effectiveness in the metabolism within 28 hours after the application, the photosynthesis occures faster, and ensures the frost preservation by the osmotic pressure acceleration of the water.
As a result of this treatment, plants gain resistance to cold, frost and white frost. This strength obtained is maintained for 9-12 days. Frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) ensures a healthier development and provides more resistance to external factors. It provides faster growth in the fruit and vegetable group, increase in the number of blooming, hardening of the body, lager and more colourful fruit and vegetables. By means of the coating method, the productivity of cuticle and stems are more durable and effective. As a result of the application of the frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) to soil, it includes 45-55% of organic matter content and organic carbon content, and keeps the harvesting capacity of beneficial elements to plants and prevents washing and elemental loss. Due to its organic content, it supports the development of the root and stem by linking free nitrogen in the air to soil. As a result of this, 7 kg of nitrogen is linked to the field. This equals to 30-35 kg of nitrate and reduces the use of nitrate fertilizer. With its effect, the frost inhibitor (abiotic stress reliever) assumes not only the duty of preventing frost, white frost, fog, but also the duty of providing plant nutrient elements.
The product is applied by spraying on all kinds of trees and their derivatives especially in March-April last frost. Metabolic tolerance will be obtained against frost stress by appliying the dosages of this application as 200 L / 1 L on vegetable and vineyards, as 1000 L / 2 L on fruit trees smaller than 2 meters and 1000 L / 3 L on trees larger than 2 meters.
