Abstract

Smartphone case or holder with elastic structure and easy to manufacture in seamless form consists of elastic groove holding the smartphone's side. The width of the groove can be adjusted as it is capable of stretching horizontally. Such groove has cross section of Ω, ω, Σ, M, C or U shape, in which U shaped cross section includes at least one edge on the inside of each end; or a groove can be made of 2 side bars and a bottom bar, in which 2 side bars are rectangle bars or comb-shaped long rectangle bars with many comb teeth and the bottom bar is made of thin slabs connecting to lower edges of the two side bars. The bottom bars have curved-shape, such as C, U, S, Ω, ω letters or sine shape or they are in the form of folded lines, such as N, M, W, V, X letter or Zigzag shape. There is a connector or a joint attaches to bottom edges of the grooves to form a smartphone holder that is capable of attaching to external devices. In addition, the distance between grooves can be adjusted thanks to the fact that connecting bars between grooves are thin elastic bars with curved or folded shapes. This back case can be used as either back case or holder of smartphone to attach to external objects or devices. And the back case or holder of smartphone and its auxiliaries allow user uses go hand-free on their smartphones.

Description

Title of the Invention
Smartphone case or holder with elastic structure and auxiliary devices to allow user go hand-free on their smartphones.
Field of the Invention
This invention relates generally to a smartphone holder for connecting the smartphone with external objects or devices, or between smartphone holder and the users’ body, which let the user uses his smartphone entirely hands free. In addition, the smartphone holder can be served as smartphone back case or side case with the purpose of preventing smartphone against damages due to mechanical collision and decorating the back and side of smartphones
Background of invention
Mobile phone or smartphone currently (as in 2018) mostly has slim and flat rectangular box shape whose two sides have a U-shaped cross-section provided that bottom of letter U has 2 right angles or curved angles. The back case used to protect smartphone against mechanical collision and decorate the back case of current smartphone (as in 2018) is usually made of flexible plastic plate whose dimensions is approximately the dimensions of smartphone to be insert to smartphone back case (hereinafter referred as smartphone back case); and the smartphone back case is stood against the back of smartphone when putting the smartphone into the case. The back case has side edges connecting to components to hold 4 edges and 4 corners of smartphone which has shape of letter J in which side branches of letter J is on the same side. Because the back case is made of flexible plastic so that the lip of groove can be adjusted the width when inserting the smartphone into the groove, then securing the edges and corners of smartphone. The disadvantage of this type of case is that each type of case is only suitable for a certain type of smartphone, and because it is made of plastic resin so it hard to fix the smartphone to add component parts or component coupling so that the back case can connect with external device and serve as smartphone holder having coupler connecting back case and external devices.
Current smartphone holder compatible with other devices (as in 2018) such as smartphone holder for selfie stick used for self-photographing or self-filming is type of horizontal mount consisting of 3 grooves to hold the bottom, top and side of smartphone. These grooves are pulled together by a pulling force generated by 2 springs twisted in circular cylindrical circumference connecting between two ends of 2 side grooves and 2 twisted springs are located in two tubes capable of pulling in and out. These two tubes include 2 ends connected to 2 ends of grooves holding 2 opposite sides of smartphone. The upper and lower groove of smartphone holder usually has L- shaped cross-section with L-angle of less than 90 ° or a J-shape cross-section with 2 branches of letter L or J on the same side, and the mouth of upper and lower groove turning toward each other. For smartphone holder like smartphone holder for selfie stick, the lower groove is connected to component coupling which is connected to component coupling at the tip of selfie stick to create the distance between smartphone holder and user body. This shaft is capable of adjusting the length, and the coupler often located on the end of spacing shaft has two U-shaped flat plates parallel to each other and connected to end of spacing shaft. The flat plates have 2 circular holes and the coupler on the underside of bottom groove has a flat plate perpendicular to bottom groove. The surface of flat plate is perpendicular to plane formed by bottom groove and top groove. The coupler on the end of spacing shaft secures the coupler into the middle of bottom groove. The wing bolt is passed through 3 holes on 3 flat plates and screwed the nut of wing bolt to secure the angle between spacing shaft and smartphone holder. The disadvantage of this holder is to be hard to secure the smartphone vertically and the thickness of clamp is large; and it also required user to carry out many actions by both hands to insert the smartphone into the holder. This type of holder includes many details that make the production cost high and most of them can only secure the smartphone horizontally while most smartphone users are used to holding smartphones vertically when using a smartphone.
At present, the smartphone holder is equipped with devices to attach smartphone and user body so that user can use the smartphone without holding it, however, most of them can neither secure the smartphone in place to meet the needs of the user nor make user comfortable and convenient for storage in pockets or bags when not in use.
US patent No. USD721356S1 issued on January 20, 2015 to William Benjamin Hasbrook and Sean Michel Stuck for the invention named Mobile Phone Case. This type of case has shape of flat rectangular box and the front insides of the edges are empty so that the smartphone screen is revealed. This case is made of plastics and contains flat plates with the dimension equivalent to that of smartphone to be inserted (hereinafter called smartphone back case) and the smartphone back case is stand against the back of smartphone when putting the smartphone into the case. The case has a perimeter edge attached to the components on perimeter edge to hold 4 edges and 4 corners of smartphone. The grooved-shaped components on perimeter edge has cross section of J shape with the lateral branches of J is on the same side. Thanks for being made of plastic, width of groove mouth can be changed when inserting edges and corners of smartphone into groove and secured edges and corners of smartphone. On the back or side of this type of smartphone case are equipped with holes to ensure that the camera or speakers or microphones or sockets of smartphone are open. This case is only used for a certain type of phone.
US patent No.US096665524Bl issued on December 16, 2003 to Pieter J. J. Niemann for the invention named Cellular telephone holder. This type of cellular telephone holder is used to hold the telephone when the user is walking or running. It consists of a groove holding the lower edge of the telephone whose cross-section is U-shaped and the its back is connected to smartphone’s back case while back case has grooves perpendicular to the lower groove, and the groove holding the upper edge of the telephone whose cross-section is J-shaped and lower branch of J is connected to C-shape so as to the curved shape of the C is directed inwards and its back is connected to smartphone’s back case while back case has grooves perpendicular to the lower groove. The back case connecting to the lower groove are able to slide smoothly on the back case attached to the upper groove thanks to engagement of grooves on 2 back cases and there is a lock to lock 2 back cases together after inserting the telephone into the holder and side of back case has a mounting bracket so that the mobile phone is kept the horizontal position such as hooking on the waistband. This cellular telephone holder has many separate parts that are quite complex, resulting in high production costs and less durable and multiple operations when putting the mobile phone in or out of this type of holder.
Application for US patent No. US20120046083A1 has a priority date of July 08, 2010 for invention named Cell phone holder by Keven H.Klett. This type of cellular phone holder allows the user to hear and speak with hands free. Its structure consists of an elastic curved bar with 2 ends in which one end is connected to a weight and the other is connected to box with an open mouth so as to insert the cell phone. When used, the elastic curved bar will be hooked to a shoulder and the cell phone is placed into the box in a position so that it is slightly below the shoulders and relatively close to the mouth and ears of the user. The disadvantages of this cell phone holder are that the shoulder trap is easy to fall off due the slope down of neck to arm so that the user has to carry extra weight to ensure that the smartphone is balanced and fall on the front of the user's chest and the cell phone is quite far from the user's ears and mouth. US patent No. US5697071A issued on December 09, 1997 to Eagle Fan for the invention named Mobile phone holder structure. This holder structure includes a back case that is made up of two flat plates attached together by means of a screw at the two ends of plates, and on facing surface of each plate has parallel grooves forming parallel paths between the two faces of two flat plates; 2 side clamps on the same side to clamp onto one side of the smartphone shall be connected to leg edge bar with T-shaped cross section and 2 side clamps on the opposite side to clamp onto one side of smartphone shall be connected to leg edge bar with T-shaped cross section. These 2 T-shaped cross section bar are pushed into the groove to create a suitable distance for the smartphone to fit into the distance between the two opposite clamps and fixed by means of two screws with facing longitudinal grooves to let the two plates secure the T-shaped cross-section bars. This type of holder structure has many disadvantages such as having many separate and complex part, changing the distance between the two opposite clamps for each type of phone is quite complex and it is quite thick making the aesthetics of the cell phone holder low.
US patent No. US9170473B1 issued on October 27, 2015 to Zhengliang Li for the invention named Integrated self-photographing apparatus. This self-photographing apparatus includes the holder with U-shaped frame whose two branches are two open tube and a reverse U-shaped frame whose 2 branches are 2 round axles and each of them has overlapped twisted spring. Two branches having spring of reverse U-shaped spring are placed in two tubular branches of U- shaped spring and spring is held by two rings at the top of each branch of the U-shaped frame. The joint capable of creating angle as intended of user is connected to end of spacing shaft which can be protruded or indented; and it includes parallel bars having circular holes and connecting to the underside of U-shaped frame. The flat bars are interlaced with parallel flat bars at the end of the spacing shaft. There is a wing bolt passing through the holes of flat bars connecting to underside of U-shaped frame and passing through holes on flat bar connecting to the end of spacing shaft and screwed the nut to define the angle between the U-shaped frame and spacing shaft.
