Definitions
- the present invention relates to the technical field of electronics, programmable electrical control, mechanics, medicine and physical rehabilitation, since it provides an apparatus for neck rehabilitation.
- Rehabilitation is the process and the result of re-enabling, restoring or regaining the ability to move anywhere in the body.
- the idea of physical rehabilitation is linked to the treatment that a person develops to recover the condition or condition that he lost due to an illness or other type of health disorder.
- rehabilitation seeks to restore the capabilities of a patient with physical limitations.
- the purpose is for the person to have an autonomous life, depending on the least possible degree of others.
- Physical rehabilitation in a nutshell, points to body functionality.
- the rehabilitation tasks are intended for the individual to improve their mobility and physical abilities from exercises, massages and other techniques.
- the neck is one of the most mobile structures of the human body, supports the weight of the skull vault and thanks to its mobility in the three anatomical planes allows movements of flexion, extension, lateral flexion and rotation, it is also in relation to the waist scapular, and from its roots the spinal nerves that innervate both the motor and sensory to the shoulder girdle and upper limbs. For all this it is very important to take care of it to have a good mobility and avoid the annoying headaches, neck or arms that can cause.
- the posterior muscles of the neck maintain the physiological lordosis of the cervical area, these tend to weaken, altering the cervical structure and may appear the dreaded rectifications.
- Scapular dyskinesia is defined as the alteration of the synchronization in the scapulo-thoracic joint, which results in a variation in the position and normal movement of the scapula during shoulder movements. Cervical pain or neck pain is one of the most common conditions in the industrialized world. According to the International Association for the Study of Pain "International Association for the Study of Pain", 15% of the population will suffer chronic cervical pain at some time in their life. Recent studies have focused on the influence of the scapula and its dysfunctions in cervical pain.
- Part of the cervical musculature has the scapula as an insertion zone, so an alteration in its functioning can influence the activity of the cervical spine, favoring the appearance of lesions in this region.
- physiotherapy can be very beneficial to accelerate recovery, recover the ability to move and return to normal daily activities.
- Physiotherapy applied to the discomfort and pain in the neck area includes both active treatments and passive treatments Passive treatments help to relax the body, while preparing it for therapeutic exercise, which is the active part of physiotherapy.
- Some of the most common active treatments to treat neck pain with physiotherapy include:
- Thermotherapy is a discipline that consists of applying heat through conduction, convection or radiation, with methods as diverse as the application of paraffin and infrared radiation, both at the surface and at the deep level of the tissues. Among its most prominent advantages are pain relief, increased blood flow and decreased blood pressure.
- Cryotherapy as opposed to thermotherapy relies on the application of cold to obtain therapeutic effects.
- the systems used are also many, as well as the benefits for the patient, among which are pain reduction, resorption of edema, disinflammation and increased muscle tone.
- Muscle stretching or self-elongation is a static discipline, which is done effortlessly. It consists of slowly stretching certain muscles, starting from a certain posture, which is maintained for a few seconds, during which the breath must not be held, and then the posture is relaxed again. They improve stress, contractures, and return to the cervical spine its characteristic curve (physiological lordosis), indicated in people with discomfort in shoulders, arms, neck (tension headaches), dizziness or noise in the ears.
- An immobilization device includes one or more pillars with multiple segments that protect a user's head and spine. The pillars generally extend along the part of the head, the spine and the pelvis, which is what the device protects.
- a cable or wire crosses these segments in the pillars.
- the pillars of the invented system are not activated and the system is in normal use, the pillars are designed to be as flexible as possible and allow complete physiological movement of the protected body part.
- the activation of the system confers rigidity to the system and prevents or decreases non-physiological movements that can cause injuries to the part of the body that is intended to be protected.
- It also includes an immobilization device with cables used to guide the deployment of rigid tubes to stabilize and protect the user's head. It also includes segments with flat guide protrusions for greater stability of the pillars.
- the immobilization device may also include rigid tubes that extend to the receivers when activated, and which can also be used to stabilize and protect the user's head or neck.
- thermotherapy can be applied by a system that provides heat and / or cold, to reduce inflammation and pain and improve the patient's conditions, in addition to the fact that there is no reference of being a system operated by an application where the device can be operated remotely by means of an intelligent device.
- CORSID OF THE CÉRVIDO-TOR ⁇ CICO SUPPORT is currently being marketed, which is a four-post cervical orthosis. Each post is attached to the occipital or mandibular pad with a swivel joint, which allows the orthopedist to set the exact position by tightening an adjustment screw, in addition to the height can be adjusted by extending the threaded posts.
- the aforementioned device is designed for immobilization of the neck in different positions and / or heights, but there is no evidence that it can provide movement for physical therapy to gradually improve movement in the neck, nor does it refer to being a device that can provide thermal therapy to help reduce pain and inflammation by applying heat and / or cold in the affected area, therefore, it should be mentioned that lacking mechanized systems of Thermotherapy movement and application do not have any control remotely.
- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the neck rehabilitation apparatus.
- Figure 2 shows a front view of the pair apparatus
- Figure 3 shows a rear view of the neck rehabilitation apparatus.
- Figure 4 shows a side view of the neck rehabilitation device.
- the neck rehabilitation apparatus is formed by, a scapular support (1) is configured to be placed on the shoulders covering from the back to the middle part of the shoulder blades, and by the front part covers the clavicles .
- a neck support (2) is installed in the upper part of the scapular support (1) in a centered way and is configured to surround a person's neck and give firmness avoiding unnecessary movements that could cause injuries.
- At least two peltier plates (not shown), which can be of different amperages, are installed on the inside of the scapular support (1), preferably at shoulder height, and on the inside of the neck support ( 2), said peltier plates are configured to apply heat and / or cold on the person's shoulders and neck and perform thermotherapy to reduce inflammation and / or pain.
- An occipital support (3) is installed in the upper part of the neck support (2), this configuration allows the back of the person's head to have a rigid support while maintaining a neutral position.
- a maxillary support (4) is held by fixation means (not shown) in the front part of the occipital support (3), and is arranged to support the lower jaw of the patient and thus prevent additional movements and gaps between the person's head and the neck rehabilitation device.
- a covering (not illustrated) which is cushioned and can be made of different materials, is installed inside the scapular support (1), the neck support (2), the occipital support (3) and the maxillary support ( 4), this configuration allows comfort to the person who uses the device for neck rehabilitation.
- At least four grooves (5) are placed distributed on the front and back of the scapular support (1), said grooves (5) are arranged to fix a harness (6) which, also, is attached to the bottom of a lumbar support (7) that is placed on the waist of the person using the neck rehabilitation device, allowing with this configuration to give greater support, weight distribution which provides rest to the person who uses it.
- the scapular support (1), the neck support (2), the occipital support (3), the lumbar support (7) and the maxillary support (4) are ergonomically shaped and made of polymeric materials, preferably acrylonitrile butadiene styrene .
- At least one central linear actuator (8) is fixed from the lower end on the upper rear part of the scapular support (1), and the upper end of the linear actuator (8) is fixed from the rear part of the occipital support (3), This configuration allows the person's head to move forward and backward for physical therapy.
