Abstract

Electrical appliances can have unique labels assigned to them to identify them uniquely in an area or a house, or else we can also assign different appliances industry standard labels with respect to their type and characteristics to identify a group of them in an area or a house. Now we can have plug-in electricity meters to measure energy used by individual appliances or a single nonintrusive load monitoring meter to measure the same and send it to our remote consumption service in cloud which will read the unique label for the appliance and will detect its area or house by an area or house identifier provided by the plugin-electricity meter or by the wireless controller or gateway for the house or area routing the message containing the power consumption reading for the appliance to the consumption service in cloud.

Description

Smart Meter-Based Consumption Services In Cloud
In this invention we have a group of electrical appliances in an area or a house which can be used by the customer. These appliances can have unique labels assigned to them to identify them uniquely in an area or a house, or else we can also assign different appliances industry standard labels with respect to their type and
characteristics to identify a group of them (one or more) in an area or a house. Now we can have plug-in electricity meters or plug load meters to measure energy used by individual appliances and send it to our remote consumption service in cloud which will read the unique label (or industry standard label) for the appliance and will detect its area or house by an area or house identifier provided by the plugin-electricity meter or by the wireless controller or gateway for the house or area routing the message containing the power consumption reading for the appliance to the
consumption service in cloud. Such plug-in electricity meters can help in energy conservation by identifying major energy users, or devices that consume excessive standby power. Another type of smart meter uses nonintmsive load monitoring to automatically determine the number and type of appliances in a residence or an area, how much energy each uses and when and provide information for state changes (On or Off or Standby) for all appliances along with their power consumption to the consumption service in cloud . Nonintmsive Load Monitoring is a process for analysing changes in the voltage and current going into a house and deducing what appliances are used in the house as well as their individual energy consumption.
Nonintmsive Load Monitoring is considered a low-cost alternative to attaching individual monitors on each appliance. Consumption Service in the cloud then provides appliance level power consumption in an area or house to the customer along with how power consumption could have been optimised analysing the state changes for each appliance. Also various cost plots of money billed versus the power consumed by each appliance per day or week or month would be provided by the consumption service. In addition to this since all messages are timestamped
consumption service will also provide what time during the day maximum power is consumed and by what appliances. Consumption service will also provide
recommendations to clients about new low power appliances and other
recommendations to lower power usage.

Claims

Claims Following is the claim for this invention: -
1 . In this invention we have a group of electrical appliances in an area or a house which can be used by the customer. These appliances can have unique labels assigned to them to identify them uniquely in an area or a house, or else we can also assign different appliances industry standard labels with respect to their type and characteristics to identify a group of them (one or more) in an area or a house. Now we can have plug-in electricity meters or plug load meters to measure energy used by individual appliances and send it to our remote consumption service in cloud which will read the unique label (or industry standard label) for the appliance and will detect its area or house by an area or house identifier provided by the plugin-electricity meter or by the wireless controller or gateway for the house or area routing the message containing the power consumption reading for the appliance to the consumption service in cloud. Such plug-in electricity meters can help in energy conservation by identifying major energy users, or devices that consume excessive standby power. Another type of smart meter uses nonintmsive load monitoring to automatically determine the number and type of appliances in a residence or an area, how much energy each uses and when and provide
information for state changes (On or Off or Standby) for all appliances along with their power consumption to the consumption service in cloud . Nonintmsive Load Monitoring is a process for analysing changes in the voltage and current going into a house and deducing what appliances are used in the house as well as their individual energy consumption. Nonintmsive Load Monitoring is considered a low-cost alternative to attaching individual monitors on each appliance.
Consumption Service in the cloud then provides appliance level power
consumption in an area or house to the customer along with how power
consumption could have been optimised analysing the state changes for each appliance. Also various cost plots of money billed versus the power consumed by each appliance per day or week or month would be provided by the consumption service. In addition to this since all messages are timestamped consumption service will also provide what time during the day maximum power is consumed and by what appliances. Consumption service will also provide recommendations to clients about new low power appliances and other recommendations to lower power usage. The above novel technique of providing consumption services in the cloud for various electrical appliances in an area or house is the claim for this invention.
