BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Seats, in particular vehicle seats, have a seat and backrest contour predetermined by the upholstery, for example a seat foam core. The contouring and shaping of the seat and backrest surface are required in order to be able to support the body of a person sitting on the seat in an ergonomically correct manner. Vehicle seats also have a variety of comfort features with which the person can customize the seat, in particular its contour to their needs, for example by means of a lumbar support.

The contour of a seat is basically designed for the seated person. Object of the present invention is to provide a generic seat, in particular a vehicle seat in such a way that it offers a comfortable comfort even in the resting or lying position.

The provision of the support mat provided according to the invention makes it possible that the seat is provided with a kind of "Spannbettfuktion". All of these embodiments can be configured such that the comfort devices present in the seat, such as seat heating and / or seat cooling, can continue to be used. Alternatively, these comfort devices can advantageously also be integrated in the support mat.

It is also advantageous if the support mat has a central fixing section which is fixed or fixable in the sitting position in the region of a gap formed between the seat part and the seat back. As a result, the seat and the backrest surface in the sitting position remain taut over the respective upholstery.

It is particularly advantageous if the central fixing portion of the support mat is fixed by means of elastic holding means in the gap, which are formed so that they contract in the sitting position and pull the middle fixing in the gap and stretch in the lying position. Also preferred is an embodiment in which the support mat has a support structure of leather, fabric, cloth, foil, net material or a band structure, which is preferably elastic.

The seat according to the invention thus enables a conversion of a seat contour into a flat bed contour. It is thereby created a flat mattress like a bed. The hardness of the bed function can be regulated.

The invention is also directed to a support mat for a seat according to the invention having a reclining support structure, with a front fixing portion adapted to be attached to a seat portion of the seat, a rear or upper fixing portion adapted to abut a seat back of the seat can be attached, and a central fixing portion which is provided with elastic holding means which are fixable in a gap formed between the seat part and the seat back, preferably on the seat part or on the seat back.
