Description

A TELEVISION
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a television, and in particular to a television capable of wireless communication.
Prior Art
Nowadays, televisions are one of the most frequently used consumer electronics devices in homes. Televisions are capable of receiving many types of broadcasts such as terrestrial broadcasts, cable broadcasts and satellite broadcasts, and thus enable the users to watch many foreign and domestic television channels. Parallelly to the advancing technology, televisions gained the capability to use wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and the like. Televisions are able to connect to other devices of the users such as mobile phones or tablet computers thanks to their wireless communication capabilities. By this, additional functions are provided such as a user controlling the television using another device or transferring content between devices.
In the state of the art televisions, the antennas used for wireless communication are disposed behind the television panel. Wireless signals are weakened due to the rear side of a panel being made of metal, which in turn weakens signal reception of the users' devices.
State of the art international patent application no. WO2012154391 mentions a patch antenna comprising an optically transmissive and electrically conductive mesh.
In the state of the art, there is no solution such as the one in the present invention enabling enhancing the signals received by the users.
Brief Description of the Invention
The aim of the present invention is to realize a television capable of wireless communication.
Another aim of the present invention is to realize a television with the improved transmission efficiency of wireless communication signals.
Detailed Description of the Invention
In its most basic form, the television capable of wireless communication, comprises
  • at least one panel glass (opencell) on which the image to be transmitted to the user is formed,
  • at least one light source enabling illuminating the image on the panel glass,
  • at least one circuit board on which at least one light source is fastened,
  • at least one fastening means on which at least the circuit board is fastened,
  • at least one reflector enabling reflecting the light produced by the light source, and
  • at least one antenna disposed between the fastening means and the reflector.
The television capable of wireless communication, comprises in its most basic form, at least one panel glass (opencell) on which the image to be transmitted to the user is formed. The portion of this panel glass seen by a user, can be referred to as the front portion of the television. An image formed on said panel glass is illuminated by at least one light source. This light source may be any light source such as single LEDs or LED bars. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, at least one of the light sources is fastened on at least one circuit board (PCB – Printed Circuit Board). There may be a light source on each one of the circuit boards, as well as a plurality of light sources on one circuit board. The circuit board on which the light source is fastened, is fastened on the fastening means. A reflector at least partially covering the side of the fastening means facing the front portion of the television, is also provided on the fastening means. At least one hole is provided on the reflector, through which at least one of the light sources can at least partially pass. The light source is passed through this hole. The reflector enables the light generated by the light source such that it can beam in varying directions, to be reflected on the front portion of the television. In this case, the layers of the television of the invention are arranged from the rear of the television to the front as, the fastening means, circuit board, reflector and the panel glass. The light source extends from the circuit board towards the panel glass. The antenna enabling the television to receive the wireless signals, is placed between the fastening means and the reflector. Thus, only he reflector and the panel glass is disposed between the antenna and a user. Since the reflector and the panel glass absorb the wireless signals in a negligible level, the wireless signals are not weakened.
In an embodiment of the invention, the antenna is placed on the fastening means.
In another embodiment of the invention, the antenna is placed on the circuit board on which the light sources are placed.
In an embodiment of the invention, the antenna is formed by using the circuit paths of the circuit board on which the light sources are placed. In other words, the antenna and the circuit board are produced integrally in this embodiment.
The rear panels of the state of the art televisions are made of materials such as metals, causing high absorption of wireless signals. In the television of the invention, this metal rear panel is not disposed between the antenna and the user, thereby giving the television of the invention the technical advantage of transmitting wireless transmission signals to a user without being weakened unlike the state of the art television. In other words, the transmission efficiency of wireless communication signals are enhanced in the television of the invention thanks to placement of the antenna. In the television of the invention, electromagnetic interference possibility is also reduced thanks to said metal panel being placed between the antenna and the units likely to cause electromagnetic pollution such as the main board, LED driver, or the power supply. Because, the metal panel reflects the electromagnetic waves likely to be generated by said units.
In the television of the invention, the region between the fastening means and the reflector is suitable for placement of a plurality of antennas, and antennas of various sized. Thus, the number, sizes and arrangement of the antennas used in the television of the invention can be customized.
