Abstract

In one embodiment, a stencil provides for marking a human for cosmetic procedure. The stencil comprises a thin flexible membrane including a plurality of holes spaced apart and sized to allow a marking substance to communicate through selected holes to the human. The stencil further comprises indicia disposed on the membrane and in a form of a bodily feature of the human or portion thereof. The membrane may be transparent to allow the indicia to be seen when a side of the membrane is disposed on the human.

Description

STENCILS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING COSMETICS

BACKGROUND

[0001] The disclosure relates to stencils and templates for applying temporary or permanent cosmetics.

[0002] Unless otherwise indicated herein, the approaches described in this section are not admitted to be prior art by inclusion in this section.

[0003] Some current stencils are limited to only one design on a single sheet. These are not customizable unless a user cuts them with a scissors. Another stencil uses two sheets of eyebrow cutouts that must be aligned one on top of the other to adjust the size, but even this stencil is limited to the design that is precut on the stencil.

SUMMARY

[0004] The present disclosure provides for stencils and methods for applying cosmetics.

[0005] The stencil comprises a thin flexible membrane including a plurality of holes spaced apart and sized to allow a marking substance to communicate through selected holes to the human. The stencil further comprises indicia disposed on the membrane and in a form of a bodily feature of the human or portion thereof.

[0006] In one embodiment, the membrane is transparent to allow the indicia to be seen when a side of the membrane is disposed on the human.

[0020] In one embodiment, the disclosure provides a method of marking a shape on a human for a cosmetic procedure. The method comprises placing a stencil on a first part of a human; tracing a marking instrument on the stencil along a body feature of the human to form indicia of the body feature on the stencil; placing the stencil against a second part of the human; and tracing the marking instrument along the formed indicia on the stencil to mark the traced body feature on the second part of the human.

[00111] Figure 1 is a plan view illustrating a makeup stencil 100 according to one embodiment. The makeup stencils will be called "stencil" hereinafter. Stencil 100 comprises a membrane 102 that has a plurality of openings 104. (For the sake of clarity and simplicity, only one opening 104 is numbered in Figure 1.) Stencil 100 may further comprise a center marking 106 or a center marking 108 or both. Center marking 106 is printed on the membrane 102. Center marking 108 is cut into the membrane 102. (For the sake of clarity and simplicity, center marking 106 and center marking 108 are not shown in all drawings, but the stencils described herein may include a center marking 106 or a center marking 108 or both.) Alternatively, marking 106 may be cut in the membrane. Alternatively, marking 108 may be printed in membrane 102. Stencil 100 may be used to create an eyebrow design by placing stencil 100 over an eyebrow or eyebrow drawn on a person, and then the eyebrow is traced by a writing instrument to thereby leave ink or other marking on the membrane 102. This marking on membrane 102 can be used to draw an eyebrow design on a person by placing the marked-up stencil 100 on the person and overwriting the marking on membrane 101 to thereby write on the person. The writing on the person may then be used as a guide for temporary or permanent eyebrows.

[00112] The stencil 100 and the other stencils described herein may be formed with a grid with holes of various spacings, densities or shapes.

[00113] In some embodiments, the holes 104 are arranged in an array and may be evenly spaced apart. In some embodiments, the holes 104 are not evenly spaced. In some embodiments, the spacing of the holes 104 is related to the curvature of the body portion on which the stencil is to be used. In some embodiments, the spacing of the holes 104 is related to the curvature of the body feature for which the stencil is to be used. The holes 104 may be formed with various shapes, such as circles or hexagons. In some embodiments, the holes 104 are hair stroke shaped, and are arranged in a pattern that resembles hair grown on a person. Exemplary stencils with hair stroke patterns are described below in conjunction with Figures 61-65.

[00114] The disclosure describes various embodiments of a permeable customizable makeup stencil that allows for any adjustment of curves, straight lines, length, and width. It also allows for adjustment of shapes for brows, eyeliner, and lips without cutting or aligning multiple sheets. [00115] The user can quickly and easily adjust an eyebrow to be smaller or larger, more curved, or angled, or longer or shorter without cutting anything or having to align an additional stencil to achieve a different shape. The user can easily create a custom makeup stencil according to their own bone structure or that of another, follow prepared patterns, or customize them accordingly. Not only do these features give the user more choices in design, it is less expensive. These stencils can have multiple designs on the same stencil giving the user even more choices. Makeup designs on the permeable stencil can be single, multiple, partial, or combinations thereof. The design has a unique feature where the design can be reflected symmetrically and easily duplicated on the opposite or mirror side, resulting in a symmetrical makeup designs, reducing time and money for the end user. The custom design can be read by a computer which can then be cut with a cutting machine, laser, or the like, or printed on the membrane.

[00116] Membrane 102 may be formed of a flexible or partially flexible material that allows membrane 102 to be contoured against the face or other body part of a human. Membrane 102 may be formed of a non-stretchable material so that the shape of the templates remains unchanged during use of the membrane 102. Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A stencil for marking a human for cosmetic procedure, the stencil comprising;

a thin flexible membrane including a plurality of holes spaced apart and sized to allow a marking substance to communicate through selected holes to the human: and

indicia disposed on the membrane and in a form of a bodily feature of the human or portion thereof.

2. The stencil of claim 1 wherein the membrane is transparent to allow the indicia to be seen when a side of the membrane is disposed on the human.

3. The stencil of claim 1 or 2 wherein the plurality of holes is disposed in a portion of the sheet within the indicia.

4. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the plurality of holes is shaped based on the type of bodily feature.

5. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the spacing of the holes is disposed in a portion of the sheet within the indicia.

6. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the spacing of the holes is based on the type of bodily feature.

7. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the spacing of the holes is in a grid.

8. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the spacing of the holes is related to the curvature of the body portion.

9. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the size of the holes is related to the curvature of the body portion.

10. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the indicia is in the shape of an eyebrow or a portion thereof.

11. The stencil of any of claims 1 to 9 wherein the indicia is in the shape of an eyeliner or a portion thereof.

12. The stencil of any of claims 1 to 9 wherein the indicia is in the shape of a lip or a portion thereof.

13. The stencil of any preceding claim wherein the membrane is formed of a material to allow marking thereon of a body reference point such as a face center line.

14. A method of marking a shape on a human for a cosmetic procedure, the method comprising:

placing a stencil on a human;

placing a marking instrument on the stencil along or near indicia on the stencil;

moving the marker along the indicia;

flipping the stencil to another portion; and

repeating.

15. A method of marking a shape on a human for a cosmetic procedure, the method comprising:

placing a stencil on a first part of a human;

tracing a marking instrument on the stencil along a body feature of the human to form indicia of the body feature on the stencil;

placing the stencil against a second part of the human; and tracing the marking instrument along the formed indicia on the stencil to mark the traced body feature on the second part of the human.
