- uplink transmission and downlink transmission occupy different frequency bands.
- uplink transmission and downlink transmission occupy the same frequency band and are performed at different times.
- the channel response of the TDD scheme is substantially reciprocal. This is because the downlink channel response and the uplink channel response are almost the same in a given frequency domain. Therefore, in the TDD-based wireless communication system, the downlink channel response has an advantage that it can be obtained from the uplink channel response.
- the TDD scheme can not simultaneously perform downlink transmission by the base station and uplink transmission by the UE because the uplink transmission and the downlink transmission are time-divisional in the entire frequency band.
- uplink transmission and downlink transmission are divided into subframe units, uplink transmission and downlink transmission are performed in different subframes.
- FIG. 2 shows a structure of a radio frame according to FDD in 3GPP LTE.

- the UE 100 It is essential to support mobility of the UE 100 in the mobile communication system. Accordingly, the UE 100 continuously measures the quality of a serving cell and the quality of a neighboring cell providing a current service. The UE 100 reports the measurement results to the network at an appropriate time, and the network provides optimal mobility to the UE through handover or the like. Often, measurements of this purpose are referred to as radio resource management (RRM).
- RRM radio resource management
- the UE 100 monitors the downlink quality of the primary cell (Pcell) based on the CRS. This is called Radio Link Monitoring (RLM).
- RLM Radio Link Monitoring
- 3 shows a cell detection and measurement procedure.
- the UE detects a neighboring cell based on a synchronization signal (SS) transmitted from a neighboring cell.
- the SS may include a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS) and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS).
- PSS Primary Synchronization Signal
- SSS Secondary Synchronization Signal
- the serving cell 200a and the neighboring cell 200b transmit a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) to the UE 100
- CRS cell-specific reference signal
- the UE 100 performs measurement through the CRS, And transmits the measurement result to the serving cell 200a.
- the UE 100 compares the power of the received CRS based on information on the received reference signal power.
- the UE 100 can perform measurement in the following three methods.
- RSRP reference signal received power
- RSSI Received Signal Strength Indicator
- Reference symbol received quality This indicates the CQI and can be determined by RSRP / RSSI according to the measured bandwidth or subband. That is, RSRQ means a signal-to-noise interference ratio (SINR). Since RSRP does not provide sufficient mobility information, RSRQ may be used instead of RSRP in handover or cell reselection.
- SINR signal-to-noise interference ratio
- RSRQ RSSI / RSSP.
- the UE 100 receives a Radio Resource Configuration Information Element (IE) from the serving cell 100a for the measurement.
- the Radio Resource Configuration Dedicated Information Element (IE) is used for setting / modifying / canceling a radio bearer, modifying a MAC configuration, and the like.
- the radio resource setting IE includes subframe pattern information.
- the subframe pattern information is information on a measurement resource restriction pattern on the time domain for measuring RSRP and RSRQ for a serving cell (e.g., a primary cell).
- the UE 100 receives a measurement configuration (IE) information element (IE) from the serving cell 100a for the measurement.
- IE measurement configuration

- the measurement setting IE includes an IE (information element) as shown in the following table.
- MeasConfig Field Description If the allowInterruptions value is True, this indicates that transmission and reception with the serving cell is allowed to cease when the UE performs measurements using MeasCycleScell for carriers of the deactivated Scell. measGapConfig Set or clear measurement gap
- the measGapConfig is used to set or release a measurement gap (MG).
- the measurement gap MG is a period for performing cell identification and RSRP measurement on a different frequency from the serving cell.
- GapOffset can be set to either gp0 or gp1.
- the E-UTRAN i.e., base station
- the E-UTRAN provides one measurement gap (MG) pattern with a constant gap interval
- the UE does not transmit or receive any data from the serving cell during the measurement gap period, retunes its RF chain to the inter-frequency, and then performs measurement at the corresponding inter-frequency.
- CA carrier aggregation
- a carrier aggregation system means aggregating a number of component carriers (CCs). This carrier aggregation changed the meaning of existing cells. According to carrier aggregation, a cell may refer to a combination of a downlink component carrier and an uplink component carrier, or a single downlink component carrier.
- a cell may be classified into a primary cell, a secondary cell, and a serving cell.
- the primary cell refers to a cell operating at the primary frequency.
- the primary cell is a cell in which the UE performs an initial connection establishment procedure or connection re-establishment process with the base station, Cell.
- a secondary cell is a cell operating at a secondary frequency, and once established, an RRC connection is established and used to provide additional radio resources.
- the carrier aggregation system can support a plurality of element carriers (CC), i.e., a plurality of serving cells.
- CC element carriers
- Such a carrier aggregation system may support cross-carrier scheduling.
- Cross-carrier scheduling may be performed by assigning a resource allocation of a PDSCH that is transmitted over a different element carrier over a PDCCH that is transmitted over a specific element carrier and / or a resource allocation of elements other than an element carrier that is basically linked with the particular element carrier
- a scheduling method that can allocate resources of a PUSCH transmitted through a carrier wave.

- the IoT device since the IoT device has a feature of low mobility, the channel environment has almost no change.
- the IoT device can use sub-bands of, for example, about 1.4 MHz.
- IoT communication operating on such a reduced bandwidth can be called NB (Narrow Band) IoT communication or NB CIoT communication.
- LTE Long Term Evolution
- LTE-A LTE-Advanced
- the fifth generation mobile telecommunications defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) refers to providing a data transmission rate of up to 20 Gbps and a minimum transmission speed of at least 100 Mbps anywhere.
- the official name is 'IMT-2020' and aims to commercialize it worldwide in 2020.
- ITU proposes three usage scenarios, for example, enhanced Mobile BroadBand (eMBB) and Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) and Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC).
- eMBB enhanced Mobile BroadBand
- mMTC Massive Machine Type Communication
- URLLC Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communications
- URLLC is about usage scenarios that require high reliability and low latency.
- services such as autonomous navigation, factory automation, augmented reality require high reliability and low latency (e.g., a delay time of less than 1 ms).
- the delay time of 4G (LTE) is statistically 21-43ms (best 10%) and 33-75ms (median). This is insufficient to support a service requiring a delay time of 1 ms or less.
- LTE Long Term Evolution
- the eMBB usage scenario relates to usage scenarios requiring mobile ultra-wideband.
- the fifth generation mobile communication system aims at higher capacity than the current 4G LTE, can increase the density of mobile broadband users, can support D2D (Device to Device), high stability and MTC (machine type communication).
- 5G research and development also aims at lower latency and lower battery consumption than 4G mobile communication systems to better implement the Internet of things.

- the sync raster represents the frequency location of the SS block used by the UE to obtain system information.
- the frequency location of the SS block may be defined as SS REF using the corresponding GSCN number.
- FIG 8 shows an example in which LTE / LTE-A and NR share an uplink in an arbitrary band.
- LTE / LTE-A and NR may share any of the bands shown in Table 9 (i.e., band for LTE / LTE-A but refarming for NR).
- one UE may use the uplink (UL) of the corresponding band as the LTE / LTE-A in the TDD scheme, or may use it as the NR.
- UL uplink
- the sub-carriers of the uplink band should be aligned to avoid inter-cell interference (ICI). Also, the DC should be aligned with the subcarrier.
- ICI inter-cell interference
- the UL carrier for LTE / LTE-A is shifted to 7.5 kHz while the UL carrier for NR is on the subcarrier. Therefore, in order to align the UL subcarriers, the following options may be presented.
- option 2 is the most realistic approach.
- Proposal 1 It is proposed to use digital rotation according to Option 2.
- the channel raster must be well defined since the actual carrier in the RF synthesizer frequency is shifted 7.5 kHz from the LTE carrier.
- the following approach can be used for the LTE-NR UL shared band.
- Method 2 Define an NR UL channel raster shifted by 7.5 kHz.
- Scheme 1 may be preferred to maintain consistency with common NR channel raster definitions. Given that the LTE system is fully relocated to the NR in the future, Method 1 is considered to be the definitive way to define the NR channel raster. In the case of the above scheme 1 itself, the NR UE can detect whether 7.5 kHz has been moved by various methods such as LTE cell detection, receiving preset information and additional signals. Based on this content, this section proposes the following.
- Proposal 2 Following the general design of a generic NR channel raster, the UE assumes 7.5 kHz is shifted.
- the NR-based UE shifts 7.5 kHz based on the above assumption without shifting the channel raster by 7.5 kHz.
- the NR-based UE performs cell detection on the LTE cell, uses pre-stored information for each carrier / band, or shifts 7.5 kHz using the signaled information. In this way, even if all future LTE-NR shared bands are converted to NR, the definition of the channel raster can be maintained without change.
- ⁇ FRaster can be equal to or greater than ⁇ F Global .
- the reference frequency (FREF) for an arbitrary band can be shifted as shown in the following equation.
- [Delta] shift may be received via a higher layer parameter from the base station (i.e., the serving cell).
- the UL band is shared between LTE / LTE-A and NR at a subframe or symbol level unit. At this time, the switching time between LTE / LTE-A and NR may be differently required.
- Option 2 and Option 3 may be applied.
- Option 4 can only be applied to UEs with improved PLL for fast RF readjustment.
- the base station needs to recognize the switching time required by each UE implementation scheme. Therefore, in this section, it is suggested that the UE transmits information on the switching time to the base station.
- the information on the switching time may be included in the UE capability information and transmitted to the base station.
- FIG. 9 is a flow chart illustrating a scheme according to the second aspect of the present invention.
- the BS may transmit a UE capability inquiry message.
- the UE 100 may transmit a capability information message to the base station.
- the capability information message may include information on the switching time.
- the information may indicate, for example, whether the UE supports fast switching or general switching. In other words, the information may indicate whether the switching type supported by the UE is fast switching or normal switching. If the UE supports fast switching, the information may indicate a SupportFastSwitch. Or if the UE supports general switching, the information may indicate a SupportNormalSwitch. Or the information may be represented in bits. For example, bit 0 may represent a SupportNormalSwitch. Or bit 1 may indicate a SupportFastSwitch. To this end, the UE may set information on the switching type in the capability information.
- the base station recognizes the switching time of the UE and can support UL switching between LTE / LTE-A and NR in an optimal manner.
