Description

Bateau moteur à foils rétractables présentant une configuration dissymétrique en position passive  Motorboat with retractable foils having an asymmetrical configuration in the passive position
Field of the Invention The present invention relates to motorized foil boats.
Etat de la technique State of the art
The principle of balancing the weight of a boat by a hydrodynamic lift effect produced by the speed of the water acting on elements in the form of submerged wings, semi-submerged or crossing the surface of the water , as opposed to the only use of the Archimedean effect of submerged volumes, is relatively old. From the beginning of the twentieth century there are motor boats equipped with this kind of device named foil. We also know the use of foils in order to stabilize roll or pitch vessels in Archimedean configuration. The use of foils improves the performance of boats by increasing speed and / or reducing energy consumption.
US Patent 4,237,810 discloses a motor boat with foils.
On this boat, and more generally on motorized foil boats, the position of the foils relative to the load-bearing structure does not vary, whether the boat is at a standstill, moves at low or high speed, that the force of the wind where the height of the waves is pronounced or not. Other patents, such as US Pat. No. 3,241,511, disclose principles of motor and foil boats with foil retractability system, vertical sliding or various rotational mechanisms. These systems make it possible in particular to reduce, at least partially, the size and the drag of the appendages when they are not used.
The patent application WO2016 / 0094090 discloses a principle that makes it possible to satisfy two distinct distinct geometrical configurations, namely (i) the coincidence with the shape of the hull of the foils in the raised position, and (ii) the positioning of the foils in the low position which allows to obtain naturally the autostability of the hydrofoil in flight, whether in roll or in pitch. However, the devices of the state of the art do not allow the foils to be both above the waterline in passive position, optimally integrated in the supporting structure, and sufficiently spaced in the active position, e.g. ex. at least twice the width of the boat. Such a provision would have the merit of increasing the natural stability of the boat while minimizing the bulk of the foils in the passive position.
Description de l'invention Description of the invention
The present invention offers the advantage of overcoming the problem described in the previous chapter. In general, it consists in creating, for a pair of foils given in a passive position, an asymmetry with respect to the vertical median plane of the supporting structure.
The invention more specifically relates to a motor boat comprising a carrying structure and at least one pair of similar foils disposed on each side of the support structure, each of said foils being defined by a wing and its support; the latter being retractable in the lower part of the structure and slidably mounted relative thereto; said foils being arranged to adopt at least two fixed positions, namely a so-called active position in which they are deployed in similar positions and a so-called passive position in which said supports are retracted into the supporting structure; characterized in that in the passive position, the arrangement of said foils is asymmetrical with respect to the vertical median plane of the carrier structure.
In the passive position, the positioning of the foils of the same pair is asymmetrical. In the active position, the positioning of the foils is symmetrical, or very weakly asymmetrical but without it affecting the trajectory of the boat.
The dissymmetry in the passive position can be obtained in different ways. The supports may be symmetrically identical but asymmetrically arranged in a passive position. In this case, the trajectories of the supports are also asymmetrical.
Alternatively, the supports may be asymmetrical, ie have slightly different shapes.
The asymmetry is preferably minimized. It only aims to allow a retraction of the supports in the support structure, the latter moving largely along a path substantially parallel to the body of water, to obtain a relatively distant positioning of the wings relative to the supporting structure. According to one embodiment of the invention, in the passive position, the supports are superimposed. The sliding mechanism of the supports is preferably curved.
According to a particularly advantageous variant, the trajectory of the supports consists of at least two parts of different curvatures, the part closest to the vertical median plane being less curved than the farthest part.
The dissymmetry of the foils allows a realization of the retraction of the innovative foils whose advantages are:
-Foils au-dessus de la flottaison en configuration passive le protégeant des dégradations (notamment algues ..) connu pour affecter considérablement les performances des hydrofoils -Foils above the floating in passive configuration protecting it from damage (including algae ..) known to significantly affect the performance of hydrofoils
-Fores arranged throughout the width of the supporting structure, allowing larger foils for a given boat size. The larger foils once in active position are further apart, significantly improving the stability of the first generation hydrofoil.
Reduced clutter since the foils in this mode of retraction can be positioned under the deck of the boat.
According to another embodiment of the invention the foils are guided by two shims adapted in that they allow the passage of rope sails and evolutionary twisting. Advantageously, the mechanical lift system of the foils comprises a screw jack secured to the carrier structure and the foil simultaneously.
In general, the dissymmetry of the foils described in the present patent application can be combined with all the other characteristics described in the patent application WO 2016/009409, in particular the mechanism of deployment / retraction of the foils and the dynamic simulator.
The figure describes an exemplary embodiment in which the foils 2 are similar but not symmetrically identical. The supports 4 are slightly asymmetrical so as to be superimposed in the carrier structure 1 in the passive position. The figure illustrates three positions foils 2,2 ', 2 ", the passive position 2, a transient position 2' and the active position 2". In passive position, the wings 3 merge with the side walls of the supporting structure 1.
In the active position, the distance between the ends of the wings 3 "is at least equivalent to twice the width of the supporting structure 1. During the deployment phase the foils 2,2 ', 2 "initially move along a slightly curved path that moves away from the vertical median plane 5 of the supporting structure 1. A tilting of the foils 2 follows. ', 2 "around an axis 6 directed in a direction parallel to the main axis of the boat. During tilting, the free end 8 of each support 4 is also rotated about the axis 6.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the examples described and illustrated in this document. It covers any mechanism for modifying the position of the foils during navigation as defined in the claims.
