Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of display technologies, and in particular, to a display system and method having high contrast.
- the brightest signal acceptable to the human eye is 100,000 times that of the darkest signal.
- the single-chip spatial light modulator can modulate the gray scale range to a limited extent, taking the common 8-bit grayscale signal as an example. It can display gray scales of no more than 255 steps, and the contrast ratio is hard to exceed 2000:1. Regardless of gray scale or contrast, the range of single-space spatial light modulators can be much lower than that of the human eye.
- the existing method of improving the contrast based on displaying gray scales is to adopt a photographing device with high gray scale and high contrast when shooting, but the existing photographing and photographing equipment, especially the digital photographing camera, does not have a gray scale of up to 16 bits, so
- the general way is to take two photos in the shooting time of one frame of image, one for a long exposure time, which contains all the highlight details, one short exposure time, which contains all the dark details. Then, through image processing technology, the two low-level gray-scale images respectively including the highlight detail and the shadow detail are combined into a high-order gray-scale image including both the highlight detail and the shadow detail, which greatly increases the image data capacity, and also A high gray scale spatial light modulator is required.
