Description
Anterior Lens Capsule Cutting Ring TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention is related to cutting the anterior lens capsule in a circular manner in cataract surgeries. The present invention is especially related to a cutting ring that enables cutting said anterior lens capsule in a circular manner and used for removing anterior lens capsule, which is a stage of cataract surgeries.
STATE OF ART
In cataract surgeries, it is aimed to remove the anterior capsule of lens in the shape of a smooth circle that is 5.5 mm in diameter. Due to the fact that the intraocular lens that will be implanted into the eye is 6 mm in diameter, the part that will be removed is 5.5 mm in diameter. When said lens is implanted into the capsule, it is aimed to cover the entire sphere thereof with the capsule.
In the manual implementation applied in the state of art, a smooth circle that is 5.5 mm in diameter cannot be formed and centralization of the lens cannot be achieved. Thus, vision quality decreases and the course of cataract surgery is affected negatively.
In the state of art, the anterior capsule is generally removed manually by rule of thumb with a tool named "ultrata" and a smooth circle that is 5.5 mm in diameter cannot be removed in most cases. Lens anterior capsule can be removed in the shape of a circle that is 5.5 mm in diameter as desired by means of femtosecond laser device, disposable capsulotomy device or capsulaser device. However, said methods have higher costs.
The application numbered WO2015169426A1 is a circular scalpel suitable for performing circular capsulotomy in cataract surgery. Cutting teeth are located at the
lower edge of said scalpel. It is aimed to perform cutting process by means of circular movement of circular scalpel on the lens. However, the cutting teeth in said scalpel are sharp and cornered pointed. In addition, the crossing sections of said teeth have sharpened edges. It is stated that the cutting teeth enter into lens and anterior lens capsule is cut by means of slight rotation of the scalpel. However, as the cutting teeth are sharp and crossing sections have sharp edges, uneven cutting is experienced and thus, capsule flexibility is eliminated.
As a result, improvements are made in the apparatus that cut the lens anterior capsule in a circular manner and thus, new embodiments eliminating the abovementioned disadvantages and offering solutions for the present systems are needed.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to capsule cutting ring, which meets the abovementioned requirements, eliminates all the disadvantages and enables lens anterior capsule to be cut in a circular manner. The primary object of the present invention is to cut and remove the lens anterior capsule in the shape of circle having desired diameter in cataract surgeries.
An object of the present invention is to perform the cutting process of the lens anterior capsule with low cost.
Another object of the present invention is to prevent the capsule flexibility from being damaged by performing the cutting process of lens anterior capsule in a smooth manner. In order to achieve all of the advantages that are mentioned above and will be understood from the detailed description below, the present invention is capsule cutting ring used for cutting the anterior capsule in the eye during cataract surgery and an embodiment having cutting teeth provided at the lower surface of capsule cutting ring and having an oval-ended form.
The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the present invention will be understood more clearly thanks to the figures below and the detailed description written with reference to those figures. Therefore, the evaluation needs to be done by taking said figures and the detailed description into consideration.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the capsule cutting ring (10) according to the present invention are described only for the subject to be understood better without limiting effects.
The invention is capsule cutting ring (10) used for cutting the anterior capsule (44) in the eye (40) during cataract surgery and comprising cutting teeth (12) formed at the lower surface of capsule cutting ring (10) and having an oval-ended form.
In the most general sense, the capsule cutting ring (10) according to the invention is in the shape of a circular cord and have grooves (1 1 ) and cutting teeth (12) thereon. Thanks to the capsule cutting ring (10), it is aimed to cut and remove the anterior
capsule (44) found in front of the lens (43) in the eye (40), in a desired size and circular manner. Placing the capsule cutting ring (10) into the eye (40) and performing the cutting process are achieved by means of a holding member (30) and a motion control member (20).
As mentioned before, the capsule cutting ring (10) illustrated in the figures have a structure of circular cord. As the cutting ring (10) has a structure of a cord, it can be folded during the implementation. Cutting teeth (12) are formed at the lower surface of capsule cutting ring (10) in order to cut the anterior capsule (44). The end sections of cutting teeth (12) are formed in an oval shape. In addition, the teeth grooves (13) found between the cutting teeth (12) are also formed in an oval shape. Therefore, the cutting process is performed in a smooth manner without damaging the anterior capsule (44). Grooves (1 1 ) are formed at the upper surface of the capsule cutting ring (10) in order to move the capsule cutting ring (10).
During the implementation of the capsule cutting ring (10), a corneal incision (41 ) is formed on the cornea (42) found on the eye (40) (Figure 8-a). The capsule cutting ring (10) is held in a folded form by means of a holding member (30) having a holding end (31 ), placed into the eye (40) through the corneal incision (41 ) and released after centered on the anterior capsule (44) (Figures 8-b and 8-c). The control end (21 ) of the motion control member (20) is placed into the grooves (1 1 ) provided on the released cutting ring (10) (Figure 8-d). The cutting ring (10) applies pressure on the anterior capsule (44) by means of motion control member (20) and is rotated clockwise. The cutting teeth (12) cut the anterior capsule (44) thanks to rotation of the cutting ring (10).
The capsule cutting ring (10) according to the invention is made of petroleum derivatives and mainly obtained from plastic.
