Description
A CONNECTION RETAINING APPARATUS
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a connection retaining apparatus which allows the electrical installation arms in the vehicles to be held together in an aligned manner. Background of the Invention
In vehicles, a power source is required for the start-up of the vehicle and the operation of well-arranged and special receiving equipment on the vehicle. The component meeting this need is called as battery. Electricity is distributed in the vehicle by means of the battery. Starter motor feeds the battery. The line reaches the fuses before the battery, being withdrawn from the fuses to the operation site. Moreover, the vehicle chassis serves for grounding.
Many systems in vehicles such as indicating circuits, lighting systems, and solenoids are electrically operated. In the vehicle, the current from the battery is delivered to the respective unit needing it through cables.
In order to prevent the friction and physical deformation of installation arms in the vehicles, such installation arms must be aligned with one another.
In the U.S. Patent Application No. US2004151465 (Al) in the state of the art, a cable clip design is disclosed. In this design, the cables are aligned in parallel and the fixation of the cables can be performed using flexible cable clips. Moreover, it has a hinged connection at one end while a latch connection at the other end. However, there exist no flaps that are capable of holding a cable of smaller diameter when such a cable is positioned in the cable clip. In other words, fixation
of smaller diameter installations using smaller flaps is not possible. The most fundamental difference between the present invention and the document above is that the connection retaining apparatus according to the present invention comprises flaps for smaller installations; thus, it enables, when closed, the cables of any size to be compressed by applying pressure thereon, thereby holding together the cables of any size by way of the flaps that it comprises. In other words, the most distinctive feature of the present invention when compared to the prior art document is the flap configurations formed in the cable retaining areas. Having such configurations, the invention not only holds together more than one cable but also is capable of retaining cables of any diameter by means of these flaps even when a cable of a small diameter is located in any one of the cable retainer housings.
In the U.S. Patent Application No. US2011268413 (Al) in the state of the art, a routing guide is disclosed. This invention defines a routing guide formed between resilient tabs in order to fix different types of cables with differing sizes. The mechanical connection is ensured by a bolt and fixation is performed by means of clips. This invention is designed as a single-piece configuration so that two cables with different sizes can be positioned together. However, this invention is designed for holding together only two cables, and so it is not suited for retaining more cables. Further, the invention according to the above prior art document does not have small flaps and it cannot enable cables of any size to be compressed. Moreover, it has a hinge at one end while a latch fastening at the other end. In the present invention, however, the retainer consists of two pieces and the pieces are fixed from one end using a hinge. The hinge provides the bodies with the capability of movement at one point. Thanks to the tab locking disposed at another end of the bodies, the bodies overlapping with one another are fixed. The German Patent Application No. DE3340537 (Al) in the state of the art discloses a clip design for cables. The present cable retainer is designed as a
single-piece cable retainer and it is used for easily fixing cables of differing diameters in a single retainer by means of flexible retainers. However, the prior art document is designed for clipping only one cable and lacks the property of holding together multiple cables. Therefore, it cannot ensure the fixation of more than one cable harnesses. Since the clip disclosed in the above document only ensures fixing a single cable, it lacks a hinge or tab type fixing element. In the present invention, however, the retainer consists of two pieces, wherein the pieces are fixed together from one end using a hinge, and with a tab locking system from the other end. With the flaps remaining between the bodies, on the other hand, the cable harnesses and multiple installations are fixed at the preferred state. The invention according to the prior art document, however, lack such technical features.
The clips/connection retaining apparatuses used in the art engage three installation arms from the middle portion using two bolts. The use of bolts in the connection retaining apparatuses in the state of the art causes mounting challenges. Moreover, these connection retaining apparatuses cannot hold together more than three installation arms. Apart from this, in case the installation diameters are smaller than the holes of the connection retaining apparatuses, the connection retaining apparatus tends to slide from the pre-determined points on the installation due to the lack of a feature to fix the installation.
It is of utmost importance to take the installations under control according to the movement of the vehicle cab. To that end, there exist a need for fixing elements in order to keep the installations under control and prevent the contact thereof with the surrounding elements.
There exist no connection retaining apparatus in the state of the art which enables fixing multiple installations and cable harnesses at the preferred state, which is compatible with small installations, and which has flexible flaps and a tab locking.
Objects of the Invention
The object of the present invention is to provide a connection retaining apparatus which keeps the installations in the vehicles under control according to the movement of the vehicle cab and prevents the contact thereof with the surrounding elements.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a connection retaining apparatus which limits the independent movement of the installation arms within the vehicles.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a connection retaining apparatus which can adapt to cable diameters and allows fixing small-diameter installations as well.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a connection retaining apparatus which eliminates the need for bolts and nuts and facilitates mounting by means of the tab and hinge comprised thereby. And another object of the present invention is to provide a connection retaining apparatus which enables fixing multiple installations and cable harnesses at the preferred state and position.
Summary of the Invention
The main structure of the connection retaining apparatus having been developed in order to achieve the objects of the present invention and defined in the first claim and other claims dependent thereon is formed by a retainer. The retainer consists of a lower body and an upper body, said bodies being identical. The lower body and upper body are each provided with at least one groove. The groove has a semicircular form, and a circular clearance is created when a groove
at one body coincides with the groove in the other body. The lower body and the upper body are interconnected from the ends using a connector. The clearance is provided with flaps serving for retaining installations with smaller sizes. Disposed at the end edge of the lower body or upper body at which connection is not provided are a lock and lock retainer. The end of the lock retainer is attached to the protrusion disposed on the lock, thereby interlocking the two bodies. The connection retaining apparatus also comprises additional installation retainers. Such additional installation retainers enable the fixation of multiple installations. Detailed Description of the Invention

The connection retaining apparatus (1) which allows the electrical installation arms in the vehicles to be held together in an aligned manner and at a predetermined distance basically comprises:
at least one retainer (2) which fixes and holds together the installation arms such that there will be a predetermined distance therebetween, at least one flap (3) which is provided on the semicircular grooves (23) disposed on the lower body (21) and the upper body (22) and enables the installations of smaller diameters to be fixed by applying a force thereon, at least one lock (4) provided at one end of the lower body (21) and upper body (22) and enabling the bodies to be interlocked,
at least one lock retainer (5) which is provided at one end of the lower body (21) and upper body (22) and which allows the end (51) comprised thereby to be engaged in the tab (41) disposed on the lock (4), and thus permits both of the bodies to remain stable at the preferred state, and at least one additional installation retainer (6) which is disposed on the lower body (21) or upper body (22) and enables multiple installations to be fixed.
In one embodiment of the invention, there exists a retainer (2). Retainer (2) is the component that maintains the installation arms at an equal distance from and parallel to one another. The retainer (2) consists of a lower body (21) and an upper body (22), said bodies being identical. The lower body (21) and upper body (22) are provided with grooves (23) having semicircular geometries. In this embodiment of the invention, there are a total of six grooves (23), three on the lower body (21) and three on the upper body (22). The lower body (21) and the upper body (22) are interconnected via a connector (25). The connector (25) also allows the movement of the lower body (21) and the upper body (22) in the point
axis in which it is arranged. A clearance (24) is formed in the middle of the lower body (21) and the upper body (22) when they are positioned reciprocally. The installation cables are placed in this clearance (24). The inner portions of the lower body (21) and upper body (22) forming the clearance (24) are provided with flaps (3). The edge of the lower body (21) which is devoid of the connector (25) has a lock (4) while the edge of the upper body (22) which is devoid of the connector (25) has a lock retainer (5)
In one embodiment of the invention, there exists a flap (3). The flap (3) enables small-diameter installations to be fixed in the clearance (25) in an immobile manner. The flap (3) can be made of a preferred material. In this embodiment of the invention, the flap (3) is made of a flexible material. The flap (3) is provided on the lower body (21) and upper body (22). In this embodiment of the invention, there exist a plurality of flaps (3). The flaps (3) ensure, when a smaller diameter cable is placed between the lower body (21) and the upper body (22), that the cable is retained by applying a force on the cable.
In one embodiment of the invention, there exists a lock (4). Lock (4) is the component that interlocks the lower body (21) and the upper body (22). The lock (4) may have the preferred geometry. In this embodiment of the invention, there is a tab (41) at one side of the lock (4). The tab (41) ensures that the end (51) of the lock retainer (5) is engaged in the lock (4). The lock (4) allows fixing the lower body (21) and upper body (22) without using bolts. In an embodiment of the invention, a lock retainer (5) is provided on the lower body (21). The lock retainer (5) is fixed, from one end, to the lower body (21) or upper body (22). Disposed on the other side of the lock retainer (6) is an end (51). The end (51) of the lock retainer (5) is engaged in the tab (41) disposed on the lock (4) when the lower body (21) and the upper body (22) assume opposite positions, thereby securing the lower body (21) and the upper body (22) and maintaining the positions of the bodies. The lock retainer (5) may have the
preferred geometry. In this embodiment of the invention, the lock retainer (5) has virtually the same geometry as the lock (4).
There are as many additional installation retainers (6) on the lower body (21) and upper body (22) as desired. In this embodiment of the invention, the additional installation retainers (6) are arranged on the lower body (21). In the preferred embodiment of the invention, there are a total of two additional installation retainers (6), each being at an end of the lower body (21). The additional installation retainers (6) are identical with the retainer (2), but the number of cable retainers can be varied as desired.
The connection retaining apparatus (1) in this embodiment of the invention operates as follows. Provided in the connection retaining apparatus (1) is a retainer (2) allowing the fixation of installations. The identical lower body (21) and upper body (22) form the retainer (2). The lower body (21) and upper body (22) are provided thereon with at least one groove (23). The grooves (23) preferably have a semicircular geometry. The coinciding grooves (23) form a circular clearance (24). The installation is placed in the thus formed clearance (24). The lower body (21) and the upper body (22) are interconnected via a connector (25). The flexible flaps (3) are arranged on the grooves (23) provided on the lower body (21) and upper body (22). The flaps (3) enable the fixation of installations of smaller diameter. A lock (4) is provided at an edge of the lower body (21) or upper body (22), said lock allowing said bodies to be fixed and having a tab (41) at one side. A lock retainer (5) is arranged at an edge of the lower body (21) or upper body (22), said lock retainer having end (51) with similar geometry to that of the tab (41). The end of the lock retainer (5) is engaged in the tab (41) disposed on the lock (4), thereby interconnecting these two components. Thus, the lower body (21) and the upper body (22) are fixed from one side. There are as many additional installation retainers (6) on the lower body (21) and upper body (22) as desired and in the preferred positions, said additional installation retainers being identical with the retainer (2). Such additional
installation retainers (6) enable the fixation of multiple installations at the preferred positions.
With the connection retaining apparatus (1) according to the present invention, the installation arms in the vehicles reaching from the front of the vehicle to the chassis can be maintained at equal distances and under control. Thus, the deformations resulting from the friction of the installation arms with one another and with other components are eliminated. With the connection retaining apparatus (1), each installation arm can be fixed independently and regardless of their sizes. Due to the fact that the fixation performed using the connection retaining apparatus (1) does not require the use of connectors such as bolts, the fixation can be made in a more practical way, and thus saving on time.
Claims
