Description
HOUSEHOLD APPARATUS COMPRISING A FRONT WALL WITH A FRAME
[0001] The present invention refers to a household apparatus, such as a washing apparatus, a drying apparatus, and similar, comprising a front wall with a decorative frame having a relatively large stiffness.
[0002] Known solutions provide a stiffness increase by means of a mechanical overlapping joint, wherein the overlapping sheet elements are interconnected by means of clinching. In addition, solutions are known where the frame elements are mutually welded, which is not acceptable in special cases with stainless sheet used.
[0003] It is the object of the present invention to create a household apparatus, such as a washing apparatus, a drying apparatus, and similar, comprising a front wall with a decorative frame, where stiffness is substantially increased in an innovative manner.
[0004] According to the present invention, the object as set above is solved by features set forth in the characterising part of claim 1. Detail of the invention is further disclosed in respective subclaims.
[0005] The invention is further described in detail by way of non-limiting embodiment, and with a reference to the accompanying drawings, where
Fig. 1 shows a schematic three-dimensional view of a household apparatus according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows a corner region of a frame of a front wall before the penultimate production step,
Fig. 3 shows a corner region of a frame of a front wall before the last production step, Fig. 4 shows a finished frame of the front wall.
[0006] A household apparatus, such as a washing apparatus, a drying apparatus, and similar, generally comprises a front wall 1, a back wall 2, side walls 3, and a top wall 4 and a bottom wall 5. Due to aesthetic and stiffness reasons, the front wall 1, in particular, usually comprises a frame 6, particularly a metal frame made by a combination of a deep draw and bending of a pre-
manufactured blank the frame 6 is made of. With said frame 6, sufficient stiffness of an upper surface 7 thereof is to be provided between both corner regions 8.
[0007] Fig. 2 shows one of the corner regions 8 of the frame 6 according to the invention in a stage before the penultimate production step. The raw frame 6 is already formed in previous production steps, which are not subject of the invention and are not described in detail, with a cut-out 9 surrounded by an edge 10, and horizontal folds 11' and, respectively, vertical folds 11" extending at the outer edge of the blank. A previous step of cutting-out has been carried out on said blank in at least one corner region 8, thus, obtaining a first straight section 12' with a blocking section 13 formed in the horizontal fold 11', and a second section 12" with a counter- blocking section 14, said second section 12" being offset inwardly from the plane of the raw frame 6 and approximately in parallel with the blank. Said inward offset of the counter-blocking section 14 is selected in a size that corresponds approximately to the thickness of the sheet the frame 6 is made of.
[0008] Said blocking section 13 comprises in the area of its free end a first rectangular formed projection 15 extending in the plane of the horizontal fold 11' and respectively, approximately perpendicularly to the blank. Said projection 15 comprises a first surface 15' and a second surface 15" approximately in parallel with said first surface, both said surfaces extending approximately perpendicularly to said horizontal fold 11'.
[0009] The counter-blocking section 14 comprises in the area of the vertical fold 11" a triangular second projection 16 formed slightly tilted inwardly with respect to the plane of the counter-blocking section 14. Said projection 16 comprises a first flat surface 16' extending in front of the vertical fold 11", and a second tilted surface 16" extending towards the free end of the projection 16, said surface 16" being located in the furthermost end area of the projection 16.
[0010] Before the penultimate production step (Fig. 2), said straight section 12' is bent inwardly together with the blocking section 13 over the entire length of said blank, and about the horizontal axis in direction approximately perpendicularly to the plane of said blank. Simultaneously, said section 12" is bent inwardly together with the counter-blocking section 14, again over the entire length of said blank, and about the vertical axis in direction approximately perpendicularly to the plane of said blank.
[0011] In the penultimate production step (Fig. 3), said straight section 12' is bent again inwardly together with the blocking section 13 over the entire length of said blank, and this time about the vertical axis in direction approximately perpendicularly to said blank. Here, said first projection 15 of the blocking section 13 engages in a form-locking manner the second projection 16 of the counter-blocking section 14. During the last production step the first surface 15' of the first projection 15 contacts the tilted surface 16" of the second projection 16 and slides over said tilted surface until the end of last production step. When the last production step is over, the first projection 15 snaps in the second projection 16. Said form -locking joint is obtained in a manner that said second surface 15" of the first projection 15 cooperates with the flat surface 16' of the second projection 16.
[0012] Thus, the corner joint of the frame 6 with the household apparatus according to the invention is entirely hidden at the back site of the front wall 1 of the apparatus, and practically invisible to the user.
