Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé de dépôt d'un revêtement (1) d'un article comportant un substrat (5) et plus particulièrement un procédé de durcissement d'une couche d'or formant un revêtement sur le substrat, le procédé comprenant les étapes de: fournir ledit substrat (5);déposer de manière galvanique sur le substrat (5), une première couche d'or comportant un premier type d'or et des particules de durcissement (3); et déposer de manière galvanique sur la première couche d'or (2), une couche d'or externe (4). Le procédé de l'invention permet de déposer un revêtement ayant un aspect comparable à celui d'un revêtement conventionnel d'un métal noble, mais avec une dureté plus élevée que celle d'un tel revêtement conventionnel.
Description
Procédé de durcissement d'une couche d'or formant un revêtement sur un article et article obtenu par ce procédé
Domaine technique
[0001] La présente invention se rapporte au domaine des métaux précieux. Elle concerne plus précisément un procédé de durcissement d'une couche d'or formant un revêtement d'or sur un article, ainsi qu'un article obtenu par ce procédé.
Etat de la technique
[0002] Les éléments d'habillage horloger, les bijoux ou autres objets d'orfèvrerie peuvent être réalisés en métal précieux massif, ou leur surface peut être plaquée avec un tel métal précieux. Cependant, par exemple dans le cas de l'or, de telles surfaces se raient facilement. L'or étant relativement mou, ces surfaces peuvent présenter rapidement un aspect usé inesthétique quand elles ont été soumises à l'abrasion répétée des frottements subis au cours de leur usage normal.
[0003] L'homme du métier a donc déjà cherché à déposer des couches protectrices transparentes sur ces surfaces fragiles ou à réaliser des alliages plus durs et plus résistants, permettant de réaliser des articles massifs, ayant un aspect similaire, voire identique, à la matière usuelle non protégée.
[0004] Ainsi, on a proposé des procédés consistant à effectuer, sur le substrat, le dépôt d'une couche comprenant un composé d'azote et un métal du groupe IV de la classification périodique des éléments ou d'un mélange de ces composants. Un tel dépôt peut être obtenu par un procédé d'évaporation sous vide. Un tel procédé ne permet cependant pas d'obtenir, pour le revêtement, l'aspect usuel de l'or non protégé.
Bref résumé de l'invention
[0005] Dans la présente invention, on réalise un revêtement extérieur, également appelé plaquage, sur un article. Ce plaquage est réalisé en or, de préférence en or 18K (carats), par dépôt galvanique. Selon l'invention, on dépose une première couche comprenant un type d'or et des particules de renforcement, et une deuxième couche recouvrant la première couche, la deuxième couche étant réalisée dans le type d'or ayant l'aspect que doit avoir l'article. De préférence, la première et la deuxième couches sont réalisées avec le même type d'or.
[0006] En matière d'orfèvrerie, l'or peut s'utiliser quasiment pur (or 24 carats), mais également sous forme d'alliages, afin d'obtenir des ors de couleurs particulières : or jaune (alliage d'or, de cuivre et d'argent), or blanc (alliage d'or et d'argent) ou or rouge (alliage d'or et de cuivre).
D'autres compositions sont également connues de l'homme du métier.
Dans les bijoux et pièces de haut de gamme, on conserve en général un caratage minimum de l'ordre de 18 carats, équivalent à un pourcentage massique de 75% d'or.
[0007] La présente invention concerne un procédé de dépôt d'un revêtement pour un article comportant un substrat, et plus
particulièrement un procédé de durcissement d'une couche d'or formant un revêtement sur le substrat. Le procédé comprend les étapes de :
fournir un substrat;
déposer de manière galvanique sur le substrat, une première couche d'or comportant un premier type d'or et des particules de durcissement; et
déposer de manière galvanique sur la première couche d'or, une couche d'or externe.
[0008] Selon un mode de réalisation, la couche d'or externe est réalisée dans le premier type d'or utilisé dans la première couche d'or.
[0009] Selon un mode de réalisation, le premier type d'or peut être de l'or 18K ou encore de l'or rouge.
[0010] L'invention concerne également un revêtement obtenu par le procédé et un composant comportant un substrat sur lequel est déposé le revêtement.
[0011] Le procédé de l'invention permet de déposer un revêtement ayant un aspect comparable à celui d'un revêtement conventionnel d'un métal noble, mais avec une dureté plus élevée que celle d'un tel
revêtement selon l'état de la technique.

Exemple(s) de mode de réalisation de l'invention
[0013] Selon un mode de réalisation, un procédé de durcissement d'une couche d'or formant un revêtement 1 (ou plaquage) pour un article comportant un substrat, comprend les étapes de :
déposer de manière galvanique sur le substrat au moins une première couche 2 comportant un premier type d'or et des particules de durcissement 3, et
déposer de manière galvanique sur la première couche d'or 2, une couche d'or externe 4.
[0014] L'épaisseur de la première couche d'or 2 peut être comprise entre 1 et 10 μηη et l'épaisseur de la couche d'or externe 4 peut être comprise entre 1 et 10 μηη. L'épaisseur totale de la première couche d'or 2 et la
couche d'or externe 4 est comprise entre 10 et 20 μηη. Cette épaisseur totale correspond à l'épaisseur conventionnelle d'un plaquage d'or.
[0015] Selon une forme d'exécution, les particules de durcissement 3 ont une taille comprise entre 0.01 μηη et 1 μηη. De manière préférée, les particules de durcissement 3 ont une taille comprise entre 0.01 et 0.5 μηη et encore préférablement entre 0.01 et 0.25 μηη.
[0016] Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les particules de
durcissement 3 sont des particules de diamant.
[0017] La dureté de la couche d'or augmente avec la taille des particules de durcissement. Par exemple, une dureté entre 500 et 600 Hv peut être obtenue pour le plaquage, avec la première couche d'or 2 comprenant des particules de diamant 3 ayant une taille de l'ordre de 8 μηη.
[0018] Cependant, un tel revêtement 1 formé par la première couche d'or 2 et la couche externe 4, est trop dur à l'usage. En effet, la couche d'or externe 4 peut s'abraser par usure, et les particules de diamants 3 peuvent alors apparaître en surface de l'article. Cela peut résulter dans un contact désagréable et abrasif au contact de la peau avec le revêtement 1.
[0019] Une telle première couche d'or 2 présentant des particules de diamant 3 de plusieurs μηη, nécessitera également le dépôt d'une couche d'or externe 4 plus épaisse de 10 à 20 μηη de manière à combler le microrelief de surface que peuvent former les particules de diamant 3 faisant saillie à la surface de la première couche d'or 2, et conserver une surface externe lisse et plane, après le dépôt de la couche d'or externe 4. En alternative, il n'est pas très réaliste d'envisager de procéder à une
opération de polissage pour obtenir une surface externe lisse dans le cas de particules de diamant.
[0020] Selon une forme d'exécution, la première couche d'or 2
comprend entre 1 et 15 %vol de particules de diamant 3. Une
concentration plus élevée en particules de diamant 3 peut résulter dans une fragilisation de la première couche d'or 2 déposée. Cette fragilisation peut être causée par des problèmes de cohérence du matériau, liée à un défaut d'homogénéité.
[0021] Selon une forme d'exécution, on déposera une couche d'or rouge par un procédé de dépôt galvanique à l'aide bain d'or comprenant entre 4.5 et 5.5 g/L d'or, entre 4.5 et 5.5 g/L de cuivre, et ayant un pH entre 7.2 et 7.6. Le bain comprend également de l'aurocyanure de potassium. Le bain peut également comprendre un brillanteur. Le bain d'or peut être un bain commercial comme le bain "Auruna 500 " de Umicore Galvanothechnik GmbH. Les particules de diamant 3 sont ajoutées au bain, avec une concentration comprise entre 2 et 3 g/L, typiquement de l'ordre de 2,5g/L et mises en suspension par agitation.
[0022] Le dépôt de la première couche d'or 2 sur le substrat 5 est réalisé dans le bain à une température entre 40°C et 50°C. La densité de courant est typiquement comprise entre 0.2 et 0.8 A dm2 résultant dans une vitesse de dépôt d'environ 0.14 μηη/min à 0.4 A/dm2 (la vitesse de dépôt est proportionnelle à la densité de courant).
[0023] La composition du bain permet d'avoir une bonne mise en suspension colloïdale des particules de diamant 3. Le bain peut être agité pendant le dépôt de sorte à garder les particules de diamant 3 en
suspension dans le bain. D'autre part, le substrat 5 peut également être mis en mouvement pendant le dépôt de manière à homogénéiser la densité de particules de diamant dans la première couche d'or 2 déposée. La première couche d'or 2 déposée est homogène, même lorsque le substrat 5 est de forme complexe et comprend des cavités ou des saillies.
[0024] La première couche d'or 2 ainsi déposée résulte dans un dépôt d'or rouge avec une composition d'or d'environ 75 %m d'or (18 carats) et environ 25 %m de cuivre, contenant les particules de diamant 3.
[0025] La couche d'or externe 4 peut être déposée par un procédé de dépôt galvanique à l'aide du même bain d'or que celui utilisé pour déposer la première couche d'or 2, mais sans les particules d'or. Dans ce cas, la couche d'or externe 4 aura l'aspect d'un dépôt d'or rouge avec une composition d'or d'environ 75 %m d'or (18 carats) et environ 25 %m de cuivre. [0026] Le revêtement 1 formé par la première couche d'or 2 et la couche d'or externe 4 a une dureté comprise entre 350 et 500 Hv, typiquement de l'ordre de 400 Hv. Cette valeur de dureté est plus élevée que la dureté d'un acier 316L (150-200 Hv non écroui). En comparaison, l'or 18 carats a une dureté typiquement entre 130 et 240 Hv, pour des épaisseurs similaires. . [0027] Il va de soi que la présente invention n'est pas limitée au mode de réalisation qui vient d'être décrit et que diverses modifications et variantes simples peuvent être envisagées par l'homme de métier sans sortir du cadre de la présente invention.
[0028] Par exemple, le bain peut comprendre une autre composition que celle décrite ci-dessus, dans la mesure où les particules de diamant 3 restent bien en suspension dans le bain et ne s'agglomèrent pas. A cette fin, le pH du bain peut être ajusté et des additifs (adjuvants) peuvent être ajoutés au bain. Par exemple, le bain peut être adapté pour le dépôt de la première couche d'or 2 et de la couche d'or externe 4 avec une teneur en or de plus de 90 %m, voire de 99.9 %m.
[0029] Dans un mode de réalisation, la première couche d'or 2
comprend des particules de durcissement autres que le diamant, par exemple les particules 3 peuvent comprendre un matériau choisi parmi une céramique, comme les nitrures, les carbures ou les oxydes comme l'alumine.

[0032] Le procédé de l'invention permet d'obtenir un revêtement 1 ayant un aspect d'un plaquage conventionnel, mais avec une dureté plus élevée. Le revêtement 1 est ainsi plus résistant aux rayures et à l'usure en général.
[0033] Dans un mode de réalisation, l'article est un boîtier de montre. Le substrat 5 peut également comprendre un élément d'habillage horloger, tel qu'un cadran, une aiguille, un index, une boucle, un maillon de bracelet, etc.
[0034] La couche d'or déposée par le procédé selon l'invention n'est pas destinée à subir des frottements. Ainsi et notamment en raison des problématiques de caratage et afin de conserver un titre de 18K, avec une quantité d'or optimisée, les couches d'or comprendront le moins d'additif possible. Claims
1. Procédé de durcissement d'une couche d'or formant un revêtement (1) d'un article, ledit article comportant un substrat (5), comprenant les étapes de :
fournir ledit substrat (5);
déposer de manière galvanique sur le substrat (5), une première couche d'or comportant un premier type d'or et des particules de durcissement (3); et
déposer de manière galvanique sur la première couche d'or (2), une couche d'or externe (4), le revêtement (1) formé par la première couche d'or (2) et la couche d'or externe (4) ayant une dureté comprise entre 350 et 500 Hv.
2. Procédé selon la revendication 1 ,
caractérisé en ce que la couche d'or externe est réalisée dans le premier type d'or utilisé dans la première couche.
3. Procédé selon la revendication 1 ou 2,
caractérisé en ce que le premier type d'or est de l'or 18K.
4. Procédé selon l'une des revendications précédentes,
caractérisé en ce que le premier type d'or est de l'or rouge.
5. Procédé selon l'une des revendications précédentes,
dans lequel l'épaisseur de la couche d'or composite (2) est comprise entre 1 et 10 μηη et l'épaisseur de la couche d'or externe (4) est comprise entre 1 et 10 μπΊ.
6. Procédé selon l'une des revendications précédentes,
dans lequel les particules dures (3) ont une taille comprise entre 0.01 μηη et 1 μηη, entre 0.01 et 0.5 μηη, ou entre 0.01 et 0.25 μηη.
7. Procédé selon l'une des revendications précédentes,
dans lequel les particules dures (3) sont des particules de diamant.
8. Procédé selon la revendication 7,
dans lequel la couche d'or composite (2) est déposée de manière à contenir entre 1 et 15 %vol de particules de diamant (3).
9. Procédé selon l'une des revendications 1 à 8,
dans lequel la couche d'or composite (2) comprend un gradient de concentration de particules dures (3) dans l'épaisseur de la couche.
10. Procédé selon l'une des revendications 1 à 8,
comprenant le dépôt d'une pluralité de couches d'or composite (2).

12. Article comportant un substrat (5) sur lequel est déposé le revêtement (1) selon la revendication 1 1 par le procédé selon l'une des revendications 1 à 10.
13. Article selon la revendication 12, constituant un élément d'habillage horloger.
14. Article selon la revendication 12, constituant un élément d'un instrument d'écriture.
