  • Tubular members 18, 20, and 22 have diameters of 32mm, 30mm and 25mm respectively.
  • a surface engaging member in the form of a cap 28 and 30 is provided at opposite ends of the elongate member 12 to in use enhance engagement between the elongate member 12 and the floor 24 and ceiling 26 when in the extended condition.
  • the caps 28 and 30 are manufactured from rubber.
  • the locking arrangement 16 is in the form of a conventional telescopic twist lock 32, arranged to lock tubular member 18 and 20 in position relative to each other when the elongate member 12 is in the operative, extended condition.
  • a biasing means in the form of a compression spring 34 located interior tubular member 20 and bearing against wall 36 is provided for biasing tubular member 22 away from tubular member 20.
  • a second wall 38 closes off tubular member 22 at a first end thereof and receives the compression spring 34 there against.
  • the compression spring 34 urges tubular member 22 away from tubular member 20. Accordingly, once tubular members 18 and 20 have been locked into position, tubular member 22 is urged into engagement with ceiling 26, thereby securing the clothes drying aid 10 in place between the floor 24 and the ceiling 26.
  • Shoulder 40 is provided at an end of tubular member 20 which receives tubular member 22 therein.
  • the shoulder 40 serves to inhibit tubular member 22 from becoming disengaged from tubular member 20.
  • Support arms 14 are provided for allowing for hanging of clothes or clothes hangers (not shown) thereon.
  • the support arms 14 and the elongate member 12 are connected via a collar 42.
  • the collar 42 is dimensioned and configured to be received slideably and coaxially by the elongate member 12 so as to be freely rotatable there around.
  • the collar 42 includes a plurality of receiving formations 44 to receive the support arms 14 complementally therein.
  • the support arms 14 are pivotally connected to the collar 42 via a hinge 46 so as to permit pivotal displacement of the support arms 14 between an operative radially extending condition (as seen in figures 1 and 3) and an inoperative, folded condition (as seen in figure 2) in which the support arms 14 are arranged substantially parallel to the elongate member 12.
  • Stop member 48 is provided to inhibit the collar 42 from sliding down tubular members 18 and 20 respectively, when in use. Stop member 48 is fixed to tubular members 18 and 20 respectively.
  • a hoop 50 is provided which in use rests on the support arms 14 as seen in figure 3.
  • a notch 52 is defined at a free end of each support arm 14 as can best be seen in figure 2, for in use receiving a portion of the hoop 50.
  • the hoop 50 serves to increase surface area for the hanging of clothes or clothes hangers thereon.
  • Indentations 54 are provided along the hoop 50 for in use receiving a hook portion of clothes hangers, thereby retaining the clothes hangers in position on the hoop 50.
  • the clothes drying aid 10 includes a length adjustable elongate member 12 configured to be displaceable between an operative extended condition and an inoperative retracted condition (not shown).
  • One or more support arms 14 in use extend radially from the elongate member 12.
  • a locking arrangement 16 is provided for locking the elongate member 12 against displacement in the operative, extended condition.
  • the support arms 14 form part of a set of two semi-circular members 56 and 58, wherein the arms extend from a centre portion 68 to the perimeter of the semicircular members 56 and 58. In figure 4, two sets of semi-circular members are shown. Slots 70 are defined in the collar 42 for receiving the support arms 14 complementally therein. When located in the collar 42, the set of semi-circular members 56 and 58 form a circle when viewed from above.
  • the clothes drying aid 10 includes a length adjustable elongate member 12 configured to be displaceable between an operative extended condition and an inoperative retracted condition (not shown).
  • One or more support arms 14 in use extend radially from the elongate member 12.
  • a locking arrangement 16 is provided for locking the elongate member 12 against displacement in the operative, extended condition.
  • Semi-circular members 56 and 58 are connected to opposite sides of the collar 42 such that a diameter 72 of each of the semi-circular members 56 and 58 face each other in a spaced-apart relationship as seen in figures 5, 6 and 7.
  • the semi-circular members 56 and 58 are connected to the collar 42 via a pivot joint 47 thereby permitting the semi-circular members 56 and 58 to pivot between a substantially 90° angle relative to the elongate member 12 as shown in figure 5 (operative condition) and a position in which the semi-circular members 56 and 58 are at an angle of substantially 0° relative to the elongate member 12 as shown in figures 6 and 7 (inoperative condition).
  • An arcuate bridge 76 is provided for connecting the diameters of the semicircular members 56 and 58. The arcuate bridge 76 spans a distance between the spaced-apart diameters of semi-circular members 56 and 58.
  • the locking arrangement 16 (also seen in figure 5) is in the form of a quick release seat clamp 84.
  • the quick release seat clamp 84 includes a clamp portion 86 and a holding portion 88.
  • the holding portion 88 is dimensioned according to the size or diameter of the larger tubular member of the elongate member 12 so as to surround an end region in a fixed manner.
  • the clamp portion 86 is attached to the holding portion 88 and is arranged to surround the smaller tubular member of the elongate member 12.
  • the clamp portion 86 has a lever 90 which allows the locking or releasing of the smaller tubular member of the elongate member 12 to allow for adjustment of the length of the elongate member 12 between the operative extended condition and the inoperative retracted condition.

  • a bracket 100 for in use presenting a surface 102 opposite to the floor 24 which the elongate member 12 engages when locked in the operative extended condition.
  • a first side wall 104 of the bracket 100 serves as the surface 102.
  • the bracket 100 includes apertures 106.1 and 106.2 for allowing mounting of the bracket 100 on any suitable vertical surface such as a wall 108, wherein screws (not shown) are driven through the apertures and into the wall thereby securing the bracket 100 in position. It is to be appreciated, that the invention is not limited to any specific embodiment/configuration as hereinbefore generally described and/or illustrated.

Abstract

Le dessin présente une vue éclatée d'un auxiliaire de séchage du linge (10) selon l'invention. L'auxiliaire de séchage du linge (10) comprend un élément allongé réglable en longueur (12) conçu pour pouvoir être déplacé entre une condition étendue fonctionnelle et une condition rétractée non fonctionnelle. Lors de l'utilisation, un ou plusieurs bras de support (14) s'étendent radialement à partir de l'élément allongé (12). Un système de verrouillage (16) est prévu pour verrouiller l'élément allongé (12) pour l'empêcher de se déplacer dans la condition étendue fonctionnelle. Les bras de support (14) font partie d'un ensemble de deux éléments semi-circulaires (56) et (58), les bras s'étendant à partir d'une partie centrale (68) jusqu'au périmètre des éléments semi-circulaires (56) et (58).
