Abstract
본 발명의 필름 터치 센서는 베이스 필름, 베이스 필름 상에 배치된 제1 전극 패턴층, 및 제1 전극 패턴층 상에 시인측을 향해 배치되는 굴절률 정합층을 포함한다. 굴절률 정합층에 의해 패턴 시인이 저감된 고투과율의 터치 패널 및 화상 표시 장치가 구현될 수 있다.
Description
본 발명은 필름 터치 센서 및 이를 포함하는 터치 스크린 패널에 관한 것이다. 보다 상세하게는, 복수의 도전층 및 절연층들을 포함하는 필름 터치 센서 및 이를 포함하는 터치 스크린 패널에 관한 것이다.
최근 스마트폰 및 스마트 패드와 같은 화상 표시/정보 처리 장치에 있어서, 터치 스크린 패널(Touch Screen Panel: TSP)이 채용되고 있다. 예를 들면, 정전 용량 방식의 터치 패널에 있어서, 기판에 투명 전도성층을 형성하고, 터치 인식을 위해 상기 투명 전도성층을 일정한 패턴 형상으로 식각하여, 전기가 흐르는 채널 영역과 전기가 흐르지 않는 비채널 영역을 형성할 수 있다.
정전용량 방식의 터치 패널은 손가락 등이 접촉하였을 때, 패턴이 형성된 각 채널에서 정전 용량이 변화되는 것을 감지하여 입력 좌표를 인지할 수 있으며, 저항막 방식에 비해 얇은 두께로 제조될 수 있으며, 멀티 터치 구현이 가능하다.
상기 채널 영역에는 예를 들면, ITO 전극 패턴들이 형성되고, 상기 ITO 전극 패턴에 의한 투과율 및 반사율의 변화에 의해 전극 패턴이 시인되는 경우 디스플레이 장치의 표시 품질을 열화시킬 수 있다. 예를 들면, 기판 상에 형성되는 전극 패턴의 두께 및 너비를 최소화함으로써 전극 패턴 시인이 감소될 수 있으나, 여전히 전극 패턴 시인 문제는 해결되어야 할 이슈로 남아있다.
예를 들면, 대한민국 공개특허공보 제10-2011-0089491호에서는 전극 패턴 시인 감소를 위해 Nb2O5 박막층, SiO2 박막층, ITO 박막층으로 구성되는 터치패널의 적층 구조를 개시하고 있다. 그러나, 이 경우 이종의 물질 증착 및 고가의 Nb2O5
타겟 사용에 따른 공정 용이성 및 경제성이 악화될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 과제는 광학적 특성 및 시각적 특성이 향상된 필름 터치 센서를 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 일 과제는 상기 필름 터치 센서를 포함하는 터치 스크린 패널 및 화상 표시 장치를 제공하는 것이다.
1. 베이스 필름; 상기 베이스 필름 상에 배치된 제1 전극 패턴층; 및 상기 제1 전극 패턴층 상에 시인측을 향해 배치되는 굴절률 정합층을 포함하는, 필름 터치 센서.

본 발명에 따른 필름 터치 센서는 시인측 방향으로 전극 패턴층 상에 굴절률 정합층을 포함시킴으로써 예를 들면, 투명 기재층과 금속 나노와이어층 사이에 굴절률 정합층을 포함하는 경우보다 낮은 헤이즈 및 높은 투과율을 나타낼 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 필름 터치 센서는 터치 스크린 패널, 화상 표시 장치 등에 적용되어 표시 품질을 현저히 개선할 수 있다.

본 발명의 실시예들은 시인측 방향으로 순차적으로 적층된 베이스 필름, 제1 전극 패턴층, 및 굴절률 정합층을 포함함으로써, 낮은 헤이즈 및 높은 투과율을 나타내며 현저히 개선된 시인 특성을 갖는 필름 터치 센서를 제공한다. 또한, 상기 필름 터치 센서를 포함하는 터치 스크린 패널 및 화상 표시 장치를 제공한다.
이하 도면을 참고하여, 본 발명의 실시예들을 보다 구체적으로 설명하도록 한다. 다만, 본 명세서에 첨부되는 다음의 도면들은 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시하는 것이며, 전술한 발명의 내용과 함께 본 발명의 기술사상을 더욱 이해시키는 역할을 하는 것이므로, 본 발명은 그러한 도면에 기재된 사항에만 한정되어 해석되어서는 아니된다.
<필름 터치 센서>
도 1 내지 도 3은 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서의 적층 구조를 개략적으로 도시한 단면도들이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 필름 터치 센서는 순차적으로 적층된 분리층(103), 보호층(105), 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 및 굴절률 정합층(140)을 포함할 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)은 시인측(viewer side) 방향으로 배치될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 제1 전극 패턴층(130)은 상기 필름 터치 센서의 센싱 전극 패턴들을 포함할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 굴절률 정합층(140) 상에는 절연층, 제2 전극 패턴, 패시베이션 층 등과 같은 추가 구조물이 적층될 수 있다.
분리층(103) 및 보호층(105)은 함께 베이스 필름으로 제공될 수 있다. 상기 베이스 필름은 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 및 굴절률 정합층(Index Matching Layer: IML)(140) 형성을 위한 지지층으로 기능할 수 있다.
분리층(103)은 캐리어 기판(90)(도 6 참조)으로부터 후속 박리 공정을 용이하게 수행하기 위한 기능층으로 포함될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 분리층(103)은 폴리이미드(polyimide), 폴리비닐알코올(poly vinyl alcohol), 폴리아믹산(polyamic acid), 폴리아미드(polyamide), 폴리에틸렌(polyethylene), 폴리스티렌(polystylene), 폴리노보넨(polynorbornene), 페닐말레이미드 공중합체(phenylmaleimide copolymer), 폴리아조벤젠(polyazobenzene), 폴리페닐렌프탈아미드(polyphenylenephthalamide), 폴리에스테르(polyester), 폴리메틸 메타크릴레이트(polymethyl methacrylate), 폴리아릴레이트(polyarylate), 신나메이트(cinnamate), 쿠마린(coumarin), 프탈리미딘(phthalimidine), 칼콘(chalcone), 방향족 아세틸렌계 등의 고분자를 포함하도록 형성될 수 있다. 이들은 단독 또는 2종 이상 조합되어 사용될 수 있다.
바람직하게는, 분리층(103)은 캐리어 기판(90)으로부터 용이하게 박리되며, 보호층(105)으로부터는 박리되지 않도록, 캐리어 기판에 대한 박리력이 1N/25mm 이하인 소재로 제조될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 있어서, 분리층(103)의 두께는 약 10 내지 1000nm일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 약 50 내지 500nm일 수 있다. 분리층(103)의 두께가 약 10nm 미만이면 막 균일성이 떨어져 전극 패턴 형성이 불균일해질 수 있다. 또한, 국부적으로 박리력이 상승하여 찢겨짐이 발생하거나, 캐리어 기판(90)과 분리 후, 필름 터치 센서의 컬(curl)을 야기할 수 있다. 분리층(103)의 두께가 1000nm를 초과하면 박리력이 더 이상 낮아지지 않으며, 필름 터치 센서의 유연성이 저하될 수 있다.
보호층(105)은 분리층(103) 상에 형성되며, 분리층(103)과 함께 도 1 내지 도 3에 도시된 제1 전극 패턴층(130)을 피복하여 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 및 캐리어 기판(90)으로부터 박리 공정 시 제1 전극 패턴층(130)의 파단을 억제할 수 있다.
보호층(105)은 무기 산화물, 무기 질화물과 같은 무기 절연 물질, 또는 고분자 계열의 유기 절연 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 무기 산화물의 예로서 실리콘 산화물, 알루미나, 산화티탄 등을 들 수 있고, 상기 무기 질화물의 예로서 실리콘 질화물, 질화티탄 등을 들 수 있다. 고투과율을 구현한다는 측면에서 보호층(105)은 실리콘 산화물로 형성될 수 있다.
보호층(105)에 의해 필름 터치 센서의 내열성이 향상되어, 제1 전극 패턴층(130)의 열변형 및 크랙을 방지할 수 있다. 따라서, 고온 증착 및 어닐링 공정을 수행하여 보다 낮은 저항을 갖는 제1 전극 패턴층(130)을 형성할 수 있다. 또한, 보호층(105)에 의해 필름 터치 센서의 내화학성이 향상되어 분리층(103)의 팽윤, 박리 등이 억제될 수 있다.
제1 전극 패턴층(130)은 전도성 물질을 비제한적으로 포함할 수 있으며, 투명성을 갖는 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면 인듐틴옥사이드(ITO), 인듐징크옥사이드(IZO), 인듐징크틴옥사이드(IZTO), 알루미늄징크옥사이드(AZO), 인듐징크틴옥사이드-은-인듐징크틴옥사이드(IZTO-Ag-IZTO), 알루미늄징크옥사이드-은-알루미늄징크옥사이드(AZO-Ag-AZO) 등과 같은 투명 금속산화물; 금(Au), 은(Ag), 구리(Cu), 팔라듐(Pd), 몰리브덴(Mo), 은-팔라듐-구리(APC) 등과 같은 금속 또는 합금; 금속 나노와이어; 탄소나노튜브(CNT), 그래핀(graphene) 등과 같은 탄소계 물질; 또는 폴리(3,4-에틸렌디옥시티오펜)(PEDOT), 폴리아닐린(PANI) 등과 같은 전도성 고분자를 포함할 수 있다. 이들은 단독으로 혹은 2종 이상이 조합되어 사용될 수 있다.
굴절률 정합층(140)은 필름 터치 센서, 이를 포함하는 터치 스크린 패널 또는 화상 표시 장치의 광학적 균일도를 개선하기 위해 포함될 수 있다.
예를 들면, 굴절률 정합층(140)의 하부에 형성되는 제1 전극 패턴층(130)에 포함되는 각 패턴들의 위치별, 구조적 차이에 의한 광학적 특성 차이가 감소될 수 있으며, 센싱 영역에서의 패턴부 및 비패턴부 사이의 반사율 차이를 감소시켜 센싱 전극 패턴의 시인성이 감소될 수 있다.
굴절률 정합층(140)은 수지 매트릭스 내에 무기 재료들이 혼재되거나, 증착된 구조를 가질 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)은 도 5를 참조로 후술하는 바와 같이 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 또는 센싱 전극 패턴의 형상에 따라 소정의 패턴 형상으로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 수지 매트릭스는 투명한 수지 매트릭스라면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 예를 들면 포토레지스트를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 무기 재료는 굴절률 조절 재료로서, 예를 들면, 산화 지르코늄, 산화 아연, 산화 규소, 산화 세륨, 산화 인듐, 또는 산화 티타늄을 포함할 수 있다. 이들은 단독으로 혹은 2 이상이 조합되어 사용될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 굴절률 정합층(140)의 굴절률은 약 1.45 내지 2.0 범위일 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)의 굴절률이 약 1.45 미만인 경우 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 시인 억제 효과가 실질적으로 구현되지 않을 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)의 굴절률이 약 2.0을 초과하는 경우 투과도 및 헤이즈 특성이 지나치게 악화될 수 있다.
예를 들면, 굴절률 정합층(140)의 두께는 약 50 내지 150nm 일 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)의 두께가 약 50nm 미만인 경우, 충분한 절연성이 확보되지 않을 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)의 두께가 약 150nm를 초과하는 경우, 투과도 및 헤이즈 특성이 지나치게 악화될 수 있다.
도 2를 참조하면, 제1 전극 패턴층(130)은 보호층(105) 상에 순차적으로 적층된 금속 나노와이어 층(120a) 및 투명 금속 산화물층(120b)을 포함할 수 있다.
금속 나노와이어 층(120a)은 예를 들면, 금, 은, 알루미늄, 구리, 철, 니켈, 티타늄, 텔레늄, 팔라듐, 몰리브덴, 크롬 또는 이들의 합금 중 적어도 하나의 나노와이어로 형성될 수 있다. 전기 전도성, 저저항 특성 및 경제성 측면에서, 은 나노와이어가 사용될 수 있다.
금속 나노와이어 층(120a)의 굴절률은 약 1.7 내지 2.5일 수 있다. 금속 나노와이어 층(120a)의 굴절률이 약 1.7 미만인 경우 시인성 개선효과가 충분히 구현되지 않을 수 있고 약 2.5 초과인 경우 투과도가 저하되고 및 헤이즈가 악화될 수 있다.
금속 나노와이어 층(120a)의 두께는 특별히 한정되지 않으며 예를 들면 약 30 내지 100 nm일 수 있다. 금속 나노와이어의 직경이 일반적으로 완전히 균일하지 않으므로 금속 나노와이어 층(120a)의 두께가 약 30nm 미만이면 균일한 박막 형성이 어려울 수 있고, 약 100nm를 초과하는 경우 금속 나노와이어가 층 표면으로 노출되기 어려워 저항이 상승할 수 있다.
상기 금속 나노와이어의 직경은 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예를 들면 약 10 내지 100nm일 수 있다. 상기 직경이 약 10nm 미만이면 막 형성을 위한 공정 제어가 어려울 수 있고, 약 100nm를 초과하면 투과율 등의 광학 특성이 저하될 수 있다.
투명 금속 산화물층(120b)은 전도성 및 투명성을 갖는 금속 산화물을 포함할 수 있으며, 예를 들면 ITO, IZO, IZTO, AZO, IZTO-Ag-IZTO, 또는 AZO-Ag-AZO를 포함할 수 있다. 이들은 단독으로 혹은 2 이상이 조합되어 사용될 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 투명 금속 산화물층(120b)은 투과도 향상을 위해 ITO를 포함할 수 있으며, 예를 들면 결정성 ITO 또는 비결정성 ITO를 포함할 수 있다.
도 1 및 도 2에 도시된 적층구조는 예를 들면, 필름 터치 센서 또는 화상 표시 장치의 표시 영역 또는 센싱 영역에 배치될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 있어서, 금속 나노와이어층(120a)은 상부의 투명 금속 산화물 층(120b)과 함께 동일한 패턴으로 식각될 수 있다. 이 경우, 센싱 전극 패턴으로서 금속 나노와이어층(120a) 및 투명 금속 산화물 층(120b)의 적층 구조가 사용됨에 따라, 상기 센싱 전극 패턴의 고투명 및 저저항 특성이 함께 구현될 수 있다.
도 3을 참조하면, 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 및 보호층(105) 사이에는 금속 패턴(110)이 삽입될 수도 있다. 예를 들면, 금속 패턴(110)은 금속 나노와이어 층(120a) 및 보호층(105) 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 필름 터치 센서의 배선 영역 또는 패드 영역에 도 3에 도시된 적층 구조가 배치될 수 있다.
예를 들면, 인듐 주석 산화물(ITO) 기반 필름 터치 센서의 경우, 표시 영역(또는 화면부) 및 배선 영역에서의 패터닝 공정이 별도로 수행되는 것이 일반적이다.
이 경우, 공정 복잡성 증가로 수율 감소가 초래되며, 배선 영역 및 표시 영역에서의 패턴 미스얼라인 방지 및 치수 안정성 확보를 위해 단위 시트(Sheet) 공정의 도입, 롤 필름(Roll Film) 폭 및 셀 간격의 제한 등과 같은 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 표시부 및 배선부에서의 패턴 시인에 따른 표시 품질 열화가 초래될 수 있다.
그러나, 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서는 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 상에 굴절률 정합층(140)을 포함시킴으로써 제1 전극 패턴층(130)의 시인 문제를 해소할 수 있다. 또한, 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 및 굴절률 정합층(140)의 적층 구조를 표시 영역 및 배선 영역에 함께 적용함으로써, 공정 경제성 및 수율을 함께 향상시킬 수 있다.
비교예에 있어서, 투명 금속 산화물층(120b) 및 금속 나노와이어층(120a) 사이, 또는 금속 나노와이어층(120a) 아래에 굴절률 정합층(140)이 형성되는 경우 광 투과율 및 각 층 소재의 굴절률 차이로 인해 투명 금속 산화물층(120b)(예를 들면, ITO 전극 패턴이)이 육안으로 시인될 수 있다.
그러나, 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서에 있어서, 굴절률 정합층(140)이 제1 전극 패턴층(130) 상에 적층되어 시인측에 보다 인접하게 배치될 수 있다. 따라서, 제1 전극 패턴층(130)의 시인이 현저히 감소되며, 상기 필름 터치 센서, 또는 상기 필름 터치 센서가 적용된 터치 스크린 패턴/화상 표시 장치는 낮은 헤이즈 및 높은 투과율을 통한 향상된 표시 특성, 광학 특성을 가질 수 있다.
이하에서는, 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서의 구성 및 구조를 보다 상세히 설명한다.
도 4는 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서의 전극 패턴 구조를 설명하기 위한 개략적인 평면도이다. 도 5는 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서를 나타내는 개략적인 단면도이다. 예를 들면, 도 5는 도 4에 표시된 III-III' 라인을 따라 상기 필름 터치 센서의 두께 방향으로 절단한 단면을 포함하고 있다.
도 4 및 도 5를 참조하면, 상기 필름 터치 센서는 분리층(103) 및 보호층(105)을 포함하는 베이스 필름(100) 상에 배치된 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133) 및 패드(135)를 포함하며, 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133) 및 패드(135)를 적어도 부분적으로 덮는 굴절률 정합층(140)을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 필름 터치 센서는 제1 영역(I) 및 제2 영역(II)을 포함할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 베이스 필름(100) 역시 제1 영역(I) 및 제2 영역(II)으로 구분될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 있어서, 제1 영역(I)은 필름 터치 센서의 센싱 영역 또는 표시 영역에 대응되며, 제2 영역(II)은 필름 터치 센서의 배선 영역 또는 패드 영역에 대응될 수 있다.
제1 영역(I)의 보호층(105) 부분 상에는 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133)이 배치될 수 있다. 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133)은 도 1 또는 도 2를 참조로 설명한 제1 전극 패턴층(130)으로부터 형성될 수 있다.
도 2를 참조로 설명한 바와 같이, 제1 전극 패턴층(130)은 금속 나노 와이어층(120a) 및 투명 금속 산화물층(120b)을 포함할 수 있다. 이 경우, 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133)은 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(121, 122) 및 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(123, 124)을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 센싱 전극 패턴은 제1 센싱 전극 패턴(131) 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴(133)을 포함할 수 있다. 제1 센싱 전극 패턴(131)은 보호층(105) 상에 순차적으로 적층된 제1 금속 나노와이어 패턴(121) 및 제1 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(123)을 포함할 수 있다. 제2 센싱 전극 패턴(133)은 보호층(105) 상에 순차적으로 적층된 제2 금속 나노와이어 패턴(122) 및 제2 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(124)를 포함할 수 있다.
제1 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133)은 서로 교차하는 방향으로 배열되어 시인측에 배치된 디스플레이 화면으로부터 입력된 터치 지점 좌표에 대한 정보를 제공할 수 있다.
도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, 예를 들면, 제1 센싱 전극 패턴(131)은 행방향으로 연장하며, 연결부(131a)에 의해 서로 연결된 복수의 단위 패턴들을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 단위 패턴은 예를 들면, 다각형 형상을 가질 수 있다.
제2 센싱 전극 패턴(133)은 서로 물리적을 이격된 섬(island) 패턴들을 포함할 수 있다. 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(133)은 제1 센싱 전극 패턴들(131)과 전기적, 물리적으로 분리되도록 이격될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(133)은 열 방향으로 제1 센싱 전극 패턴(131)의 연결부(131a)를 사이에 두고 서로 마주보며 이격될 수 있다.
각 센싱 전극 패턴이 금속 나노 와이어 패턴 및 투명 금속 산화물 패턴의 적층 구조를 가짐에 따라, 필름 터치 센서의 투과도를 향상시키면서 저항을 감소시킬 수 있다. 따라서, 투명성 및 신호 감도가 함께 향상된 필름 터치 센서가 구현될 수 있다.
예를 들면, 센싱 전극 패턴(131, 133), 또는 도 1 내지 도 3에 도시된 제1 전극 패턴층(130)의 투과율은 약 80%이상일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 약 90%이상일 수 있다. 또한, 센싱 전극 패턴(131, 133), 또는 제1 전극 패턴층(130)의 면저항은 약 150Ω 이하일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 약 130Ω 이하일 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시예들에 따르면, 센싱 전극 패턴(131, 133)이 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(121, 122)를 포함함에 따라 필름 터치 센서의 유연성이 보다 향상될 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 필름 터치 센서는 플렉시블 디스플레이 장치에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다. 센싱 전극 패턴(131, 133)의 두께는 특별히 한정하지 않으나, 필름 터치 센서의 유연성을 고려할 때 박막으로 형성될 수 있으며, 예를 들면, 약 100 내지 500Å일 수 있다.
제2 영역(II)의 베이스 필름(100) 부분 상에는 패드(135)가 배치될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 패드(135)는 베이스 필름(100)의 상면으로부터 순차적으로 적층된 금속 패턴(110), 제3 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(125) 및 제3 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(127)의 적층 구조를 포함할 수 있다.
제3 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(127) 및 제3 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(125)은 센싱 전극 패턴(131, 133)과 함께 예를 들면, 도 2에 도시된 제1 전극 패턴층(130)으로부터 형성될 수 있다.
금속 패턴(110)은 은(Ag), 팔라듐(Pd), 금(Au), 알루미늄(Al), 구리(Cu), 백금(Pt), 코발트(Co), 텅스텐(W), 아연(Zn), 철(Fe), 니켈(Ni), 티타늄(Ti), 탄탈륨(Ta), 크롬(Cr), 또는 이들의 합금을 포함할 수 있다. 금속 패턴(110)이 패드(135)에 포함됨에 따라, 필름 터치 센서의 전기적 신호 송, 수신 속도가 향상될 수 있다. 패드(135)는 예를 들면 외부의 연성 인쇄회로 기판(FPCB)과 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
굴절률 정합층(140)은 베이스 필름(100) 상에 형성되어 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133)을 적어도 부분적으로 덮을 수 있다. 또한, 굴절률 정합층(140)은 패드(135)를 적어도 부분적으로 덮을 수도 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 굴절률 정합층(140)은 제1 센싱 전극 패턴들(131)의 상면을 실질적으로 완전히 커버하며, 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(133)의 상면을 부분적으로 노출시키는 콘택 홀을 포함할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 굴절률 정합층(140) 상에 절연층(145)이 더 형성될 수 있다. 절연층(145)은 제2 전극 패턴층(150) 형성을 위한 절연막으로 제공될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 절연층(145)은 굴절률 정합층(140)의 형상과 실질적으로 동이한 형상을 가질 수 있으며, 굴절률 정합층(140)에 포함된 상기 콘택 홀을 부분적으로 채우며, 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(133)의 상기 상면을 부분적으로 노출시킬 수 있다.
절연층(145)은 예를 들면, 실리콘 산화물과 같은 무기 절연 물질, 또는 아크릴계 수지와 같은 투명 유기 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 절연층(145) 에폭시 화합물, 아크릴 화합물, 멜라닌 화합물 등과 같은 열경화성 또는 광경화성 물질을 포함하는 유기 수지 조성물로부터 형성될 수 있다.
절연층(145) 또는 굴절률 정합층(140) 상에는 제2 전극 패턴층(150)이 형성될 수 있다. 제2 전극 패턴층(150)은 도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, 열 방향으로 이웃하는 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(133)을 전기적으로 연결시키는 브릿지 전극으로 패터닝될 수 있다. 이 경우, 제2 전극 패턴층(150)은 절연층(145) 또는 굴절률 정합층(140)에 포함된 상기 콘택홀들을 채울 수 있다.
제2 전극 패턴층(150)에 의해 행 방향으로 연장하는 제1 센싱 전극 패턴들(131)과 절연이 유지되면서 상기 열 방향으로 연장하는 센싱 라인이 정의될 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 제2 전극 패턴층(150)은 투명도 또는 투과성 향상을 위해 투명 금속 산화물 패턴들(124, 123, 127)과 실질적으로 동일한 투명 금속 산화물을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 제2 전극 패턴층(150)은 ITO를 포함할 수 있다.
제2 전극 패턴층(150) 의 두께는 특별히 한정되지 않으나, 예를 들면, 약 1,400 내지 1,800Å일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 약 1,500 내지 1,700Å일 수 있다.
절연층(145) 및 제2 전극 패턴층(150) 상에는 패시베이션 층(160)이 형성될 수 있다. 패시베이션 층(160)은 예를 들면, 필름 터치 센서의 시인측을 향해 배치되며, 외부 수분 등으로부터 상기 필름 터치 센서를 보호할 수 있다.
패시베이션 층(160)은 예를 들면, 실리콘 산화물과 같은 무기 산화물, 또는 유기 절연물질을 포함할 수 있다. 패시베이션 층(160)은 전극 패턴들로부터의 반사율 저감을 위해, 예를 들면 2,000nm이하의 두께를 가질 수 있으며, 예를 들면 약 1.4 내지 1.6의 굴절률을 가질 수 있다.
도 6 내지 도 11은 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서의 제조 방법을 설명하기 위한 단면도들이다. 도 1 내지 도 5를 참조로 설명한 바와 실질적으로 동일하거나 유사한 재질, 구성들에 대한 상세한 설명은 생략된다.
도 6을 참조하면, 캐리어 기판(90) 상에 분리층(103) 및 보호층(105)을 형성할 수 있다. 캐리어 기판(90)으로서, 예를 들면 유리 기판 또는 플라스틱 기판을 사용할 수 있다. 상술한 바와 같이, 분리층(103) 및 보호층(105)에 의해 베이스 필름이 정의될 수 있으며, 상기 베이스 필름은 제1 영역(I) 및 제2 영역(II)으로 구분될 수 있다.
도 7을 참조하면, 제2 영역(II)의 보호층(105) 상에 금속 패턴(110)을 형성할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 보호층(105) 상에 금속층을 형성한 후, 제1 포토 마스크를 사용한 사진 식각 공정을 통해 상기 금속층을 부분적으로 제거하여 금속 패턴(110)을 형성할 수 있다.
도 8을 참조하면, 제1 영역(I)의 보호층(105) 상에 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133)을 형성하고, 제2 영역(II)의 보호층(105) 상에 패드(135)를 형성할 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 제1 영역(I) 및 제2 영역(II)을 공통적으로 덮는 금속 나노 와이어층 및 투명 금속 산화물 층을 순차적으로 형성할 수 있다. 이후, 제2 포토 마스크를 사용한 사진 식각 공정을 통해 상기 투명 금속 산화물 층 및 상기 금속 나노와이어층을 패터닝하여 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133) 및 패드(135)를 형성할 수 있다.
상기 금속 나노 와이어층으로부터 제1 영역(I)에는 제1 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(121) 및 제2 금속 나노와이어 패턴(122)이 형성되고, 제2 영역(II)의 금속 패턴(110) 상에는 제3 금속 나노와이어 패턴(125)이 형성될 수 있다.
상기 투명 금속 산화물층으로부터 제1 영역(I)에는 제1 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(123) 및 제2 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(124)이 형성되고, 제2 영역(II)에는 제3 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(127)이 형성될 수 있다.
제1 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(121) 및 제1 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(123)에 의해 제1 센싱 전극 패턴(131)이 정의되고, 제2 금속 나노 와이어 패턴(122) 및 제2 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(124)에 의해 제2 센싱 전극 패턴(133)이 정의될 수 있다. 제2 영역(II)에서는 금속 패턴(110), 제3 금속 나노와이어 패턴(125) 및 제3 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(127)에 의해 패드(135)가 정의될 수 있다.
상기 금속 나노와이어층의 형성 방법은 특별히 한정되지 않고, 예를 들면 화학 기상 증착(CVD), 스퍼터링(sputtering), 물리 기상 증착(PVD), 플라즈마 증착, 열 증착, 열 산화법, 양극 산화, 클러스터 이온빔 증착 등을 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 슬릿 코팅법, 나이프 코팅법, 스핀 코팅법, 캐스팅법, 마이크로 그라비아 코팅법, 그라비아 코팅법, 바 코팅법, 롤 코팅법, 와이어 바 코팅법, 딥 코팅법, 스프레이 코팅법, 스크린 인쇄법, 그라비아 인쇄법, 플렉소 인쇄법, 오프셋 인쇄법, 잉크젯 코팅법, 디스펜서 인쇄법, 노즐 코팅법, 모세관 코팅법 등의 인쇄 또는 코팅 공정을 통해 형성될 수도 있다.
인쇄 또는 코팅 공정을 활용하는 경우, 예를 들면 상기 금속 나노와이어층은 금속 나노와이어 및 분산매를 포함하는 나노와이어 조성물을 도포하고, 이를 경화시켜 형성할 수 있다. 기재 밀착성 및 금속 나노와이어의 산화 방지 측면애서 상기 나노와이어 조성물은 바인더 수지를 더 포함할 수 있고, 중합 개시제 등과 같은 첨가제를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 투명 금속 산화물 층은 예를 들면, 화학 기상 증착(CVD) 공정, 스퍼터링(sputtering) 공정, 물리 기상 증착(PVD) 공정 등과 같은 증착 공정을 통해 형성될 수 있다.
도 9를 참조하면, 센싱 전극 패턴들(131, 133) 및 패드(135)를 적어도 부분적으로 덮는 굴절률 정합층(140)을 형성할 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 굴절률 정합층은, 산화 지르코늄, 산화 아연, 산화 규소, 산화 세륨, 산화 인듐, 산화 티타늄 등을 포함하는 무기 재료가 첨가된 포토레지스트 조성물을 사용하여 형성될 수 있다.
상기 무기 재료는 상기 포토레지스트 조성물 전체 100중량부에 대하여 약 0.1 내지 8 중량부로 혼합될 수 있다. 상기 무기 재료의 함량이 약 0.1 중량부 미만인 경우, 굴절률 정합을 통한 투과도 향상, 패턴 시인 저감 효과가 충분이 구현되지 않을 수 있다. 상기 무기 재료의 함량이 약 8중량부를 초과하는 경우 필름 터치 센서의 투과도 및 헤이즈 특성이 악화될 수 있다.
상기 포토레지스트 조성물은 당분야에서 사용되는 것이면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 바람직하게는 네가티브(negative)형 포토레지스트를 포함할 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 포토레지스트 조성물을 도포하여 코팅막을 형성한 후, 상기 코팅막을 선택적 노광 공정 및 현상 공정을 통해 부분적으로 제거할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 예를 들면 제2 센싱 전극 패턴(133)의 상면을 부분적으로 노출시키는 콘택 홀들이 형성될 수 있다.
도 10을 참조하면, 굴절률 정합층(140) 상에 절연층(145)을 더 형성할 수 있다. 절연층(145)은 증착 공정 또는 코팅 공정으로 통해 형성되며, 굴절률 정합층(140)의 패턴 프로파일을 따라 식각될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 절연층(145)은 굴절률 정합층(140)의 표면을 덮으며, 상기 콘택 홀을 부분적으로 채울 수 있다.
도 11을 참조하면, 절연층(145) 상에 제2 전극 패턴층(150)을 형성할 수 있다. 제2 전극 패턴층(150)은 예를 들면, 스퍼터링 공정 등을 통해 ITO와 같은 투명 금속 산화물을 포함하도록 형성될 수 있다.
제2 전극 패턴층(150)은 상기 콘택 홀들을 채우며 인접하는 한 쌍의 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들(133)을 전기적으로 연결시키도록 패터닝될 수 있다.
절연층(140) 상에는 제2 전극 패턴층(150)을 덮는 패시베이션 층(160)을 형성할 수 있다.
이후. 예를 들면 패시베이션 층(160) 상에 제1 점착층을 형성하고, 상기 제1 점착층을 통해 보호 필름(미도시)을 부착시킬 수 있다. 이어서, 캐리어 기판(90)을 분리층(103)으로부터 박리 또는 분리시키고, 캐리어 기판(90)이 분리된 분리층(103)의 표면에 기재층(미도시)을 부착할 수도 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 기재층의 일면 상에 제2 점착층을 형성하고, 상기 제2 점착층을 통해 상기 기재층 및 분리층(103)을 접합할 수 있다. 상기 기재층은 예를 들면, 폴리이미드와 같은 유연성 수지 필름, 또는 편광 필름과 같은 각종 광학 기능층을 포함할 수 있다.
이어서, 열 경화 공정을 수행하여 상기 제1 점착층의 박리력을 감소시킨 후, 상기 보호 필름을 제거할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 제2 영역(II) 상에 형성된 패시베이션 층(160), 절연층(145) 및/또는 굴절률 정합층(140)을 부분적으로 제거하여 패드(135)를 노출시킬 수 있으며. FPCB를 패드(135)를 통해 연결시킬 수 있다.
상술한 본 발명의 실시예들에 따르면, 금속 나노와이어층, 투명 금속 산화물 층을 일괄적으로 패터닝하여 센싱 전극 패턴 및 패드를 함께 형성할 수 있다. 따라서, 용이한 공정으로 투명성 및 감도가 향상된 전극 패턴들을 형성할 수 있다.
또한, 굴절률 정합층을 시인측에 인접하며 상기 센싱 전극 패턴 및 패드를 덮도록 형성하므로 상기 전극 패턴으로부터의 굴절률 차이에 따른 반사광의 양을 감소시킬 수 있다. 상기 굴절률 정합층 상에는 예를 들면, 브릿지 전극 형성을 위한 절연층을 형성하여 굴절률 변화를 보다 감소시킬 수 있으며, 센싱 전극 패턴들 사이의 절연성이 보다 안정적으로 구현되며 이웃하는 센싱 전극 패턴들 사이의 크로스토크(crosstalk)에 의한 신호 교란을 방지할 수 있다.
또한, 패드(135) 역시 상기 센싱 전극 패턴 형성을 위한 공정을 통해 함께 형성될 수 있으며, 제3 투명 금속 산화물 패턴(127)에 의해 외부 노출시 패드(135) 표면의 부식, 산화를 방지할 수 있다.
도 12는 비교예의 필름 터치 센서에 있어서 광반사를 설명하기 위한 모식도이다. 도 13은 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 필름 터치 센서에 있어서 광반사를 설명하기 위한 모식도이다.
설명의 편의를 위해 도 12 및 도 13에서, 각 층들의 계면에서의 광 굴절의 도시는 생략되었다. 도 12 및 도 13에서, 예를 들면 센싱 전극 패턴들이 형성된 영역은 패턴 영역(I'), 센싱 전극 패턴들이 형성되지 않은 영역은 비패턴 영역(I'')으로 표시된다.
도 12를 참조하면, 외부로부터 광이 필름 터치 센서의 시인측으로 입사되면 절연층(145)의 상면에서 약한 반사광이 발생되며, 패턴 영역(I')에서는 절연층(145), 투명 금속 산화물층(120b), 금속 나노와이어층(120a) 및 베이스 필름(100)의 계면들 사이에서 굴절률의 변화에 따라 반사광들이 발생하게 된다. 비패턴 영역(I'')에서는 계면들의 수가 감소함에 따라 상대적으로 작은 양의 반사광들이 발생할 수 있다.
따라서, 패턴 영역(I') 및 비패턴 영역(I'')에서의 반사율 차이에 따라, 센싱 전극 패턴들이 시인될 수 있다.
도 13을 참조하면, 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 굴절률 정합층(140)이 예를 들면, 패턴 영역(I')에서 투명 금속 산화물층(120b) 및 절연층(145) 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 굴절률 정합층(140)이 광의 경로에 따른 굴절률의 변화 정도를 감소 또는 완충함에 따라, 각 층들의 계면에서 발생하는 반사광들의 양이 감소될 수 있다.
따라서, 패턴 영역(I') 및 비패턴 영역(I'') 사이에서의 반사율 차이가 감소하며, 센싱 전극 패턴의 시인을 억제할 수 있다.
<터치스크린 패널 및 화상 표시 장치>
또한, 본 발명의 실시예들은 상기 필름 터치 센서를 포함하는 터치 스크린 패널 및 화상 표시 장치를 제공한다.
상기 필름 터치 센서는 예를 들면, 액정 표시 장치, 전계 발광 표시 장치, 플라스마 표시 장치, 전계 방출 표시 장치 등 각종 화상 표시 장치에 직접 센서층으로 적층되거나 터치 스크린 패널로서 삽입될 수 있다.
예를 들면, 상기 필름 터치 센서는 화상 표시 장치의 윈도우 필름 및 표시 패널 사이에 배치될 수 있다.
상기 필름 터치 센서는 금속 나노 와이어 층을 포함하며, 이에 따라 향상된 굴곡 특성 및 유연성을 가지며, 플렉시블 디스플레이에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실시예 및 비교예를 포함하는 실험예를 제시하나, 이들 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하는 것일 뿐 첨부된 특허청구범위를 제한하는 것이 아니며, 본 발명의 범주 및 기술사상 범위 내에서 실시예에 대한 다양한 변경 및 수정이 가능함은 당업자에게 있어서 명백한 것이며, 이러한 변형 및 수정이 첨부된 특허청구범위에 속하는 것도 당연한 것이다.
실시예
두께 700㎛의 소다 라임 글래스(Soda lime Glass) 재질의 캐리어 기판 상에 멜라민계 수지 50중량부, 신나메이트계 수지 50중량부를 10중량%의 농도로 프로필렌글리콜 모노메틸에터아세테이트(Propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate, PGMEA)에 희석한 분리층 조성물을 두께 300nm로 도포하였다. 이후, 150℃에서 30분간 건조 처리하여 분리층을 형성하였다.
상기 분리층 상에 보호층 조성물(다관능 아크릴계 모노머 40중량부와 에폭시계 수지 60중량부를 혼합하고 디에틸렌글리콜 메틸에틸에테르(MEDG), PGMEA 및 3-메톡시부탄올을 각각 30중량부, 40중량부, 30중량부로 혼합한 용매에 고형분이 20중량부의 비율을 가지도록 제조)을 두께 2㎛로 도포하고, UV를 200mJ/cm2로 조사하여 광경화를 실시하고, 230℃에서 30분간 건조 경화하여 보호층을 형성하였다.
상기 보호층 상에 직경 10~20nm의 은 나노와이어, 바인더 수지, 중합 개시제 및 용제를 포함한 조성물을 도포하고 경화시켜 두께 50nm의 은 나노와이어층을 형성하였다.
상기 은 나노와이어층 상에 ITO를 상온 25℃ 조건에서 35nm 두께로 증착하고, ITO층을 180℃에서 30분 동안 어닐링한 후 사진 식각 공정을 통해 제1 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들을 형성하였다.
상기 제1 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들 상에 포토레지스트 조성물(NT-1200H, TORAY 제조) 100 중량부 대비 SiO2 및 산화지르코늄을 4 중량부로 혼합한 굴절률 정합액을 형성하였다. 상기 굴절률 정합액을 상기 ITO층에 도포하고 소정 패턴으로 노광하여 경화시켜 굴절률 정합층을 형성한 후, 인산질산초산계열 식각액(MA-PSW01, (주) 동우화인켐 제조)를 사용하여 식각하였다.
상기 굴절률 정합층 상에 아크릴에폭시계 고분자(LT09, (주) 동우화인켐 제조)로 절연층을 형성하였다. 상기 LT09를 스핀 코터로 두께 2㎛로 도포하고, 컨벡션 오븐으로 100℃에서 2분간 프리베이크하였다. 이후, 프록시미티 얼라이너로 40mj/cm2(i선 기준)으로 노광하고, TMAH 2.38% 현상액으로 현상하였다. 현상 후 전선(g, h, i선)기준으로 300mJ/cm2으로 블리칭 노광하였다. 이후, 컨벡션 오븐으로 150℃에서 30분간 포스트베이크하여 절연층을 형성하였다.
상기 절연층 상에 은, 구리, 팔라듐 합금(APC)을 사용하여 브릿지 전극을 형성하여, 절연층 내에 형성된 콘택 홀을 통해 상기 제2 센싱 전극 패턴과 연결시켰다.
이후, 상기 절연층 및 브릿지 전극 상에 상에 실리콘 산화물을 포함하는 패시베이션층을 형성하였다.
상기 패시베이션층 상에 중합개시제 SP500, 레벨링제 KRM230를 포함하며 모노머로서 CEL2021P((3,4-Epoxycyclohenaxane)methyl 3,4-Epoxy cyclohexylcarboxylate) 50중량부 및 NPGDGE(Neo-Pentyl Glycol DiGlycidyl Ether) 20중량부, 1,6-헥산디올 디아크릴레이트 10중량부, 트리메틸올 프로판 트리아크릴레이트 5중량부, 밀착부여제로서 KRM0273 10중량부, 희석모노머로서 4-HBVE를 5중량부를 포함하는 점착제 조성물을 60㎛ TAC 필름과 패시베이션층 사이에 스포이드로 도포하고, 롤 라미테이터로 압착하여 점착층의 두께가 2㎛가 되도록 하였다. 상기 접착층에 10mW/cm2 세기의 자외선을 100초간 조사하여 밀착시키고, 80℃ 오븐에서 10분간 건조 후 상온까지 방치하였다.
비교예
실시예와 동일한 방법으로 캐리어 기판 상에 분리층 및 보호층을 형성하였다. 상기 보호층 상에 실시예에서 사용된 굴절률 정합액을 도포하고 소정 패턴으로 노광하여 경화시켜 굴절률 정합층을 형성하였다.
상기 굴절률 정합층 상에 실시예에서와 동일한 방법으로 은 나노와이어층 및 ITO 층을 형성하고, 이를 패터닝하여 제1 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들을 형성하였다.
상기 제1 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들 상에 실시예와 동일한 재질 및 방법으로 절연층을 형성하고, 상기 절연층 상에 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들을 연결시키는 브릿지 전극을 형성하였다.
상기 절연층 및 브릿지 전극 상에 실시예에서 설명된 바와 동일하게 패시베이션 층, 점착층 및 TAC 필름을 형성하였다.
실험예
: 투과율,
헤이즈
및 시인성 측정
상기 실시예 및 비교예의 적층체에서 패턴이 존재하지 않는 테두리 10개 포인트에서의 투과율 및 헤이즈를 TAC 필름 측에서 측정하였으며, 그 평균값을 하기 표 1에 기재하였다. 또한, 실시예 및 비교예의 TAC 필름 측에서의 패턴 시인성을 육안으로 확인하여 그 결과를 표 1에 함께 기재하였다.
○: 전극 패턴이 시인되지 않음
△: 전극 패턴이 희미하게 시인됨
X: 전극 패턴이 뚜렷하게 시인됨
상기 표 1을 참조하면, 굴절률 정합층이 ITO층 상에 형성된 실시예에서 비교예에 비해 투과율, 헤이즈 및 시인성이 현저하게 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있다.

- 베이스 필름;상기 베이스 필름 상에 배치된 제1 전극 패턴층; 및상기 제1 전극 패턴층 상에 시인측을 향해 배치되는 굴절률 정합층을 포함하는, 필름 터치 센서.
- 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 베이스 필름은 분리층 및 보호층을 포함하며, 상기 제1 전극 패턴층은 상기 보호층 상에 배치된, 필름 터치 센서.
- 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 제1 전극 패턴층은 상기 베이스 필름 상으로부터 순차적으로 배치된 금속 나노와이어층 및 투명 금속 산화물층을 포함하는, 필름 터치 센서.
- 청구항 3에 있어서, 상기 제1 전극 패턴층은 제1 센싱 전극 패턴들 및 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들을 포함하며,상기 굴절률 정합층은 상기 제1 센싱 전극 패턴들 및 상기 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들을 적어도 부분적으로 덮는, 필름 터치 센서.
- 청구항 4에 있어서, 상기 굴절률 정합층은 상기 제2 센싱 전극 패턴들을 노출시키는 콘택 홀들을 포함하는, 필름 터치 센서.
