Abstract

Disclosed is a method, unrelated to a protocol, for processing bit indexed explicit replication (BIER) information. The method comprises: based on a first protocol mechanism, using BIER information to generate a message; sending the generated message, wherein the BIER information is used to generate a BIER protocol table and a BIER forwarding table; the BIER protocol table and the BIER forwarding table are entries generated by means of using the BIER information combined with a unicast routing table; and the first protocol mechanism is a protocol mechanism, unrelated to a unicast protocol, for transmitting the BIER information.
