Abstract

This fixed type constant velocity universal joint (3) is equipped with an outer joint member (31), an inner joint member (32), eight balls (33), and a cage (34). The center of curvature (O31d) of the track groove (31d) of the outer joint member (31) and the center of curvature (O32e) of the track groove (32e) of the inner joint member (32) are each offset from the joint center (O(f)) by equal distances on opposite sides of the joint center (O(f)) in the axial direction. The ratio (PCDBALL)/(DBALL) of the pitch circle diameter (PCDBALL) of the balls (33) and the diameter (DBALL) of each ball (33) is 3.70–3.87. Furthermore, the ratio (WI·TRUCK/DBALL) of the axial-direction length (WI·TRUCK) of the track groove (32e) of the inner joint member (32) and the diameter (DBALL) of each ball is 1.1–1.3.
