Abstract

The trousers with adjustable waistline comprises a pair of pants. The pants are further defined with a waistband. The trousers with adjustable waistline comprise a plurality of pleats. The trousers with adjustable waistline is formed with a plurality of pleats in the waistband. The plurality of pleats allows the span of the waist perimeter formed by the waistband to be adjusted. Each of the plurality of pleats is formed with a fastener. The fastener of a selected pleat holds the selected pleat together when the fastener is fastened. When the fastener is unfastened, the selected pleat releases the material gathered within the selected pleat in such a manner that the span of the waist perimeter formed by the waistband is increased. The span of the waist perimeter can be decreased by fastening the fastener thereby regathering the material that forms the selected pleat.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of personal and domestic articles including outerwear garments, more
specifically, a detail of a garment using a slide fastener.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
The trousers with adjustable waistline is a garment adapted for use with a person. Specifically, the trousers with
adjustable waistline comprises a pair of pants. The pants are further defined with a waistband. The waistband forms the superior edge of the pants when the trousers with adjustable waistline are worn normally. The span of the waist perimeter can be decreased via fastening the fastener thereby re-gathering the material that forms the selected pleat.

Detailed reference will now be made to one or more
potential embodiments of the disclosure, which are illustrated in Figures 1 through 5.
The trousers with adjustable waistline 100 (hereinafter invention) is a garment adapted for use with a person 164. The person 164 refers to a person 164 wearing the pants 161. The person 164 is further defined with a first buttock 131, a second buttock 132, and a waist. Specifically, the invention 100 comprises a pair of pants 161. The pants 161 refers to an outer garment that: 1) covers a portion of the body from the waist to the ankle; and, 2) is designed to fit and cover each leg individually. The pants 161 comprise a waistband 162. The waistband 162 refers to a region of the pants 161 that encircles the waist of the person 164. The waistband 162 is further defined with a waist perimeter 163. The waist perimeter 163 refers to the span of linear distance around the waist of the person 164. The waistband 162 forms the superior edge of the pants 161 when the invention 100 is worn normally. The
invention 100 comprises a plurality of pleats 101. The
plurality of pleats 101 are formed in the waistband 162. The plurality of pleats 101 allows the span of the waist perimeter 163 formed by the waistband 162 to be adjusted. Each of the plurality of pleats 101 is formed with a fastener 114. The fastener 114 of an individual pleat 110 selected from the plurality of pleats 101 holds the selected individual pleat 110 together when the fastener 114 is fastened.
When the fastener 114 is unfastened, the selected
individual pleat 110 releases draped fabric 113 that is gathered within the selected individual pleat 110 is released in such a manner that the span of the waist perimeter 163 formed by the waistband 162 is increased. The span of the waist perimeter 163 can be decreased via fastening the fastener 114 thereby re- gathering the draped fabric 113 that forms the selected
individual pleat 110.
The invention 100 comprises a plurality of pleats 101 and a pair of pants 161.
Each of the plurality of pleats 101 is a fold that is formed in the waistband 162 of the pants 161. The fold formed by each of the plurality of pleats 101 is a gathered and held in position in a releasable fashion using the fastener 114. The purpose of the plurality of pleats 101 is to provide a mechanism for feeding out or taking in the textile material required to increase or decrease (respectively) the waist perimeter 163 of the waistband 162. The plurality of pleats 101 comprises a collection of one or more individual pleats 110.
The individual pleat 110 is a pleat that is selected from the plurality of pleats 101. Any first individual pleat 110 selected from the plurality of pleats 101 is identical to any second individual pleat 110 selected from the plurality of pleats 101. The individual pleat 110 comprises a first folded edge 111, a second folded edge 112, a draped fabric 113, and a fastener 114.
The first folded edge 111 is a fold formed in the textile material that forms the waistband 162. The purpose of the first folded edge 111 is to take up the textile material that is used to feed out or take in the waist perimeter 163 of the waistband 162. The second folded edge 112 is a fold formed in the textile material that forms the waistband 162. The purpose of the second folded edge 112 is to take up the textile material that is used to feed out or take in the waist perimeter 163 of the . waistband 162. Methods to form pleats in garments using a first folded edge 111 and a second folded edge 112 are well known and documented in the textile and apparel arts.
The draped fabric 113 refers to the material that is taken up and released by the individual pleat 110. Methods to drape fabric within an individual pleat 110 are well known and documented in the textile and apparel arts.
As shown most clearly in Figure 5, the fastener 114 attaches the first folded edge 111 to the second folded edge 112 in such a manner that the draped fabric 113 is gathered in a location along the interior surface of the pants 161. The fastener 114 refers to a readily and commercially available device that is used to hold the gathered draped fabric 113 in position in a manner that allows the draped fabric 113: 1) to be released to increase the waist perimeter 163 of the waistband 162; and, 2) to be subseguently re-gathered and stored within the individual pleat 110. The fastener 114 is selected from the group consisting of one or more zippers, one or more snaps, one or more buttons, one or more buckles, one or more quick release buckles, or a hook and loop fastener. In the first potential embodiment of the disclosure, the plurality of pleats 101 comprises a first pleat 121 and a second pleat 122. The first pleat 121 is a dart that is formed in the posterior of the waistband 162 in a position superior to the first buttock 131 of the person 164. The second pleat 122 is a dart that is formed in the posterior of the waistband 162 in a position superior to the second buttock 132 of the person 164.
The fastener 114 of the first pleat 121 comprises a readily and commercially available first zipper 123. The fastener 114 of the second pleat 122 comprises a readily and commercially available second zipper 124.

Sheeting: As used in this disclosure, sheeting is a material, such as a textile, a plastic, or a metal foil, in the form of a thin flexible layer or layers. Snap: As used in this disclosure, a snap is a fastener that comprises a male component and a female component. The snap is engaged by pressing the male component into the female component .
Superior: As used in this disclosure, the term superior refers to a directional reference that is parallel to and in the opposite direction of the force of gravity.
Textile: As used in this disclosure, a textile is a material that is woven, knitted, braided or felted. Synonyms in common usage for this definition include fabric and cloth.
