Description

A multi-function bumper bracket
Technical Domain
The present invention relates to the domain of automobile manufacturing, and in particular, a multi-function bumper bracket that connects multiple parts.
Background Technology
Currently, two solutions are usually adopted in the head light and the fog light areas:
1. Two brackets are provided for the head light and the fog light to ensure the matching effect of the head light area and the fog light area and to increase the rigidity of said two areas. The requirement of protecting pedestrians or the improvement of pedestrian protection by adding energy absorption structures are generally not considered. However, the solution of providing respectively a head light bracket and a fog light bracket increases the number of parts, the costs of molds, and assembly time. The added supplementary energy absorption structures for the purpose of pedestrian protection can also result in increased parts weight and costs.
2. An integrated bracket for both the head light and the fog light is provided. As the dimensions of the bracket are relatively large, the manufacturing tolerance will also be relatively large. It is impossible to ensure the matching effects of both two areas simultaneously and the satisfaction of the pedestrian protection requirement at the same time.
Summary
An objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-function bumper bracket capable of presenting both a head light bracket function and a fog light bracket function at the same time, reducing number of parts, improving efficiency, reducing costs, absorbing manufacturing tolerance of products, ensuring both the matching between a head light area and the bumper, and that between a fog light area and the bumper, and balancing both static rigidity and pedestrian protection.
To solve the above-mentioned technical problems, the present invention adopts the following technical solutions:
The present invention provides a multi-function bumper bracket, characterized in that, the multi-function bumper bracket comprises a bracket upper portion for supporting the bumper and mounting a head light, a bracket lower portion for supporting the bumper and mounting a fog light, and a flexible unit that connects the bracket upper portion and the bracket lower portion.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the bracket upper portion, the bracket lower portion, and the flexible unit are molded integrally as a single piece.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the flexible unit comprise two pairs of barbed hooks fixed respectively to a bottom of the bracket upper portion and a top of the bracket lower portion, and at least one flexible structure.
Advantageously, each barbed hook comprises an upright part and a barb. The barb on the bracket upper portion and the barb on the bracket lower portion cooperate to prevent the separation of the bracket upper portion and the bracket lower portion.
Said two pairs of barbed hooks are provided respectively on the two (left and right) ends of the bottom of the bracket upper portion and the top of the bracket lower portion.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, said flexible unit comprises further at least one set of pins fixed respectively to a bottom of the bracket upper portion and a top of the bracket lower portion.
Advantageously, each set of pins comprise a plate-shaped movable pin provided on one of the bracket upper portion and the bracket lower portion, and two positioning plates provided on the other of the bracket upper portion and the bracket lower portion, said movable pin being inserted into said positioning plates.
Preferably, a positioning rib is provided on the positioning plate.
Preferably, the flexible structure is an elastic structure for realizing or assisting the pedestrian protection function.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, multiple snap-fitting structures are provided on a top of the bracket upper portion.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the bracket lower portion comprises a main body with a recess capable of receiving a fog light.
Preferably, the bracket lower portion comprises further multiple mounting points and welding ribs provided on the main body. The fog light is fixed to the bracket lower portion via the mounting points. The bracket lower portion is welded to the bumper in the fog light area via welding points on the welding ribs.
The multi-function bumper bracket provided by the present invention obtains the assembly between the bracket upper portion and the bracket lower portion through two pairs of barbed hooks and one or more elastic structures. It presents both a head light bracket function and a fog light bracket function, reduces number of parts, improves efficiency, and reduces costs. Manufacturing tolerance of products is absorbed by the cooperation of the two pairs of barbed hooks and the elastic structure (s) , so as to ensure both the matching between a head light area and the bumper and that between a fog light area and the bumper, thereby reducing manufacturing costs. Release of stress due to vibrations or high/low temperature conditions is achieved through the elastic structure (s) , so as to obtain a “bumper breathing” in the head light and the fog light area, and accordingly a good matching effect. The flexible structures of the multi-function bumper bracket can bend to a certain degree while ensuring a rigidity, so as to perform the function of pedestrian protection. In addition, the provision of pins in the flexible units prevents the bracket from being overturned and dislocated, so that a compromise between static rigidity and pedestrian protection is achieved. Efficient support to the bumper is achieved by connecting structures such as snap-fitting and welding structures between the upper and lower portions and the bumper, thereby increasing the static rigidity of the supporting area (s) and enhancing user perception and experience.

As shown in Figure 5, the flexible units 3 comprise two pairs of barbed hooks 31 that are fixed to, respectively, the bottom of the bracket upper portion 1 and the top of the bracket lower portion 2, one or more pins 32, and one or more flexible structures 33, the two pairs of barbed hooks 31 being provided on the two (left and right) sides of, respectively, the bottom of the bracket upper portion 1 and the top of the bracket lower portion 2, said barbed hooks 31 comprising a upright part 311 and a barb 312. Through the cooperation of the barbs 312, the bracket upper portion 1 and the bracket lower portion 2 are prevented from separating in a direction parallel to the X direction 100 (vertical direction of the vehicle) . Said pins 32 can be inserted into each other in a direction parallel to the X direction 100, and the elastic structures 33 can be compressed and extended in a direction parallel to the X direction 100. Thus, the flexible unit 3 can deform in a direction parallel to the X direction 100. Based on the dimensions of the bracket, one or more pins 32 and one or more flexible structures 33 can be provided. The state in which the flexible units have not yet been inserted into each other after the injection molding of the multi-function bumper bracket is completed is shown in Figure 5. At this state, the barbed hooks 31 and the pins 32 are detached, and the elastic structures 33 are in an extended state.
As shown in Figure 6, the elastic structures 33 are compressed to enable an overlap joint of the two pairs of barbed hooks 31, and the corresponding pins 32 on the bracket upper portion 1 and the bracket lower portion 2 are inserted into each other. At this state, as the multi-function bumper bracket is fixed to the bumper via the snap-fitting of the upper portion and welding points of the lower portion, the elastic structures 33, the barbed hooks 31, and the pins 32 in the area of the flexible units 3 are adjusted to a state of equilibrium according to the dimensions of the bumper skin and its manufacturing deformation. When the vehicle body is subject to a vibration or high/low temperature environment changes, the relative position of the bracket upper portion 1 and the bracket lower portion 2 changes, the state of the elastic structures 33, the barbed hooks 31, and the pins 32 can be automatically adjusted until a state of equilibrium is reached, and the released stress are absorbed. The flexible units 3 of the multi-function bumper bracket, while ensuring a rigidity to some extent, can bend to a certain degree so as to perform the function of pedestrian protection.
The specific structure of the pins 32 is shown in Figures 5 to 8. As shown in Figures 5 and 6, each set of pins 32 comprise a plate-shaped movable pin 321 and two positioning plates 322 that can cooperate with the movable pin 321 by insertion fit. Figures 7 and 8 show a transversal section of pins 32 that are inserted into each other. The movable pin 321 and the two positioning plates 322 are all parallel to the X direction 100 and the Y direction 200 (transversal direction of the vehicle) , and the two positioning plates 322 are located respectively on the two sides of the movable pin 321, limiting the relative position between the bracket upper portion 1 and the bracket lower portion 2 along the Z direction 300 (longitudinal direction of the vehicle) . The cooperation between multiple sets of pins 32 at different locations in the Y direction 200 can prevent the bracket from overturning around the X direction 100. The section form of the positioning plates 322 matches that of the movable pin 321. The two positioning plates 322 are set apart from each other along the Y direction 200, and their section forms are shaped in an obtuse angle opening towards the movable pin, so as to prevent the relative position between the bracket upper  portion 1 and the bracket lower portion 2 along the Y direction 200 from being dislocated. As shown in Figure 8, in order to ensure the relative position fixing between the bracket upper portion 1 and the bracket lower portion 2 along the Y direction 200, the positioning plates 322 can further be provided with a Y-direction positioning rib 3221 that cooperates with the movable pins 321 by insertion fit. Thus, the pins 32 serve as a guiding means, preventing the bracket from overturning around the X direction and avoiding a dislocation between the bracket upper portion and the bracket lower portion when they are inserted into each other, and achieving static rigidity. Preferentially, the movable pin 321 is provided on the bracket upper portion 1, and the positioning plates 322 are provided on the bracket lower portion 2. Each positioning plate 322 presents a cooperating face parallel to the Y direction 200 and cooperating with the movable pin 321, on which multiple supporting edges 3222 are provided in contact with the movable pin 321.
What has been described above are merely preferred embodiments of the present invention, and not for the purpose of limiting the scope of the present invention. The above-described embodiments of the present invention can also be subject to various modifications. All simple, equivalent substitutions and modifications in accordance with the claims and the description of the present invention fall within the scope of protection of the claims of the present invention. What has not been described in detail in the present invention is all convectional technology.
