Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a washing machine comprising an electric motor that is integrated into the tub and that drives the drum wherein the laundry is placed.
  • the drum wherein the laundry is placed rotates by being driven by an electric motor.
  • the electric motor is connected to the bottom part of the tub wherein the drum rotates.
  • the state of the art electric motor comprises a stator which is the static part thereof, a rotor that rotates in the stator and motor housings that are fixed to the stator and that journal the rotor from both ends thereof by means of ball bearings. Tabs are provided on the motor housings and the electric motor is fixed to bosses on the tub by means of the said tabs.
  • the motor housings function as the casing that holds the components of the electric motor together, group the stator and the rotor synchronously and enable the electric motor to be connected to the tub.
  • the rotor is journaled by the motor housing so as to rotate in the stator by means of the ball bearings.
  • the motor housing is a critical component and should be produced with small tolerances, increasing the costs.
  • separate connection elements are used for connecting the motor housing to the bosses on the tub and grouping the electric motor ( Figure 1, Figure 2); however, the high number of connection elements increase material and labor costs.
  • Patent Applications No. EP3064632 (A1), WO2009040258 (A1), WO2013182931 (A2) and US2013055771 (A1) relate to an electric motor that is used in washing machines and that drives the drum.
  • the aim of the present invention is the realization of a washing machine wherein the electric motor driving the drum is connected to the tub by lowering the number of connection elements.
  • the washing machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention comprises electric motor holders (referred briefly as the "holder” hereinafter) that are integrated under the tub and that extend toward under the tub parallel with each other.
  • the holders journal the rotor which is the rotating component of the electric motor driving the drum.
  • the holders enable the electric motor, which is composed of the rotor and the stator and which is brought to the washing machine production site without being grouped, to be grouped and fixed onto the tub.
  • the mechanical connection elements used for fixing the electric motor to the tub in the state of the art are not used in the present invention.
  • the rotor is journaled between the holders so as to rotate around its axis.
  • the stator is fixed between the holders and the rotor and the stator are grouped concentrically. While being fixed to the holders integrated with the tub, the electric motor composed of the stator and the rotor is also fixed to the tub. In the washing machine of the present invention, the number of parts needed for mounting the electric motor that drives the drum to the tub is decreased, and thus, savings in time and labor are provided.

  • the washing machine (1) comprises a drum (2) wherein the laundry is placed; a tub (3) that is produced from plastic material and wherein the drum (2) moves, and an electric motor (10) that is fixed to the tub (3), that drives the drum (2) and that has a stator (4), a rotor (5) that moves in the stator (4), a shaft (6) that is fitted through the center of the rotor (5), two ball bearings (7) that enable the rotor (5) to be journaled at both ends thereof and that are snap-fitted onto the shaft (6) and a pulley (9) whereon the belt (8) that transmits the movement to the drum (2) is attached.
  • the washing machine (1) of the present invention comprises two holders (13)
  • the stator (4) and the rotor (5) constituting the electric motor (10) are transferred to the related production site of the washing machine (1) after being produced so as to be mounted onto the tub (3).
  • the rotor (5) Before being mounted to the tub (3), the rotor (5) is not in the journaled position so as to rotate in the stator (4).
  • the rotor (5) is grouped with the shaft (6) before being mounted onto the tub (3).
  • the ball bearings (7) are provided on the shaft (6) at the two sides of the rotor (5) stack, so as to be placed into the bearing cages (11) in the holders (13).
  • the pulley (9) is also previously attached to one end of the shaft (6).
  • the rotor (5) is freely placed into the stator (4) bore without being journaled.
  • the ball bearings (7) that are free while the electric motor (10) is being placed between the holders (13) are fitted into the bearing cages (11) at the centers of the holders (13) and thus enable the rotor (5) to be journaled between the holders (13).
  • the stator (4) is fixed between the two holders (13) by means of mounting screws (12). While fixing the stator (4) by means of said mounting screws (12), the electric motor (10) composed of the rotor (5) and the stator (4) is enabled to be fixed to the tub (3).
