  • the gusset 42' is open, or unbonded, along each of the first and second sides, 24 and 26 respectively, in the illustrated embodiment. It should be understood that in another embodiment, the gusset 42' can be bonded along each of the first and second sides, 24 and 26 respectively.
  • An external pressure or force can be applied to the pouch 10' which creates a corresponding equal pressure or force inside the enclosure 18. This pressure or force will cause the frangible seal 38 to break or rupture. This pressure or force will also cause the discharge opening 48, which is initially closed, to open. At this time, the substance 28, retained in the enclosure 18 of the pouch 10', can be discharged. If the pouch 10' has a discharge opening 48', which is initially open, then there is no need to break any portion of it before the substance 28 can be dispensed there through. The substance 28 can be discharged, in a controlled manner, through the discharge opening 48 or 48'.
  • a method of using the pouch 10 includes forming a pouch 10 having first and second walls, 12 and 14 respectively, made of flexible material and having mating peripheral edges 16, 16 which form an enclosure 18.
  • the pouch 10 has a width w, a first end 20, which is initially open, a second end 22, and first and second sides, 24 and 26 respectively.
  • the open first end 20 allows the enclosure 18 to be filled with a substance 28 before it is closed by a seal 30.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une poche destinée à distribuer une substance et un procédé d'utilisation de la poche. La poche est formée à partir de première et seconde parois de matériau souple présentant des bords périphériques conjugués qui forment une enceinte. La poche présente une largeur, une première extrémité qui est initialement ouverte, une seconde extrémité, et des premier et second joints latéraux qui s'étendent à partir de la première extrémité jusqu'à la seconde extrémité. Un joint cassable est espacé de la seconde extrémité. Le joint cassable s'étend sur une majeure partie de la largeur. La poche présente également un soufflet formé entre la seconde extrémité et le joint cassable. Le soufflet présente une ouverture d'évacuation formée en son sein à travers laquelle une substance, qui est retenue dans l'enceinte après scellage de la première extrémité, peut être évacuée.
