Abstract
A method comprising: requesting, by a client, an independently coded first representation ofa video content component from a server;receiving a bitstream and playing a first set of data units of the independently coded first representation;and requesting a second set of data units of a second representation, said second set of data units being dependently coded on one or more requested or buffered data units of the first set, said second set of data units being temporally partitioned into two partswhere a base part is decodable without an enhancement part and an enhancement part may not be decodable without the base part.
