Description

A WASHING MACHINE
The present invention relates to a washing machine comprising a belt-pulley mechanism that enables the drum wherein the laundry is placed to be rotated.
In washing machines, the laundry is placed into the drum and the drum is driven by means of a motor. In general, the movement of the motor is transferred to the drum by means of a belt-pulley mechanism. The pulley is connected to the drum via a shaft and rotated by the belt stretched between the motor and the same. Especially when the washing machines are operated with excessive load and at high rotational speeds, in order to prevent the pulley from being deformed as a result of the forces acting thereon, the pulleys produced from metals and metal alloys with higher strength and greater wall thickness are preferred. However, such pulleys create imbalance in the drive group due to the weight thereof and substantially increase the production and labor costs.
In the state of the art German Patent Document No. DE102010062520, a washing machine wherein the sheet metal pulley is connected to the shaft in a safe and robust way is disclosed.
In another state of the art document, namely the Chinese Patent Document No. CN1508340, a washing machine wherein the connection between the shaft and the pulley is strengthened is disclosed.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a washing machine wherein the strength of the pulley is increased in a cost effective way.
The washing machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises a motor; a pulley that is rotated by means of a belt that is stretched between the motor and the same; a shaft that transfers the rotational movement of the pulley to the drum and enables the drum to be rotated around a horizontal axis, and a shaft hole that is arranged on the pulley and that provides the connection between the shaft and the pulley.
The washing machine of the present invention comprises a recess-shaped depression that is formed at the central region of the pulley where the shaft hole is positioned and that enables the shaft hole to be positioned almost in the same vertical plane as the symmetry axis passing through the center of the belt that is wound around the pulley. Thus, it is provided that the linear contact surfaces between the belt and the pulley and between the pulley and the shaft where the movement transmission on the pulley is realized are almost in the same vertical plane. Thus, the forces acting on the pulley are balanced and the moment strains are avoided. Consequently, the wall thickness of the pulley can be safely decreased and cost advantage is provided.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the depression is in the form of a circular cavity formed by deep drawing the central region of the pulley that surrounds the shaft hole. Thus, the position of the shaft hole in the horizontal direction can be adjusted in a precise and easy way.
In another embodiment of the present invention, on the pulley, at least one abutment is disposed, extending from the wall of the shaft hole towards the shaft. The abutment bears against the shaft and increases the contact surface between the pulley and the shaft.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the abutment completely surrounds the shaft. Thus, the strength of the pulley is improved without using an element such as washer, etc. between the pulley and the shaft.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the pulley is fixed onto the shaft by means of a fixing means such as screw, bolt, etc. and a washer having a skirt fitting on the abutment is placed between the fixing means and the pulley. The washer completely surrounds the abutment so as to enable the fixing means to be mounted in a safe and robust way.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the pulley is produced from a thin metal sheet material. Thus, the weight of the pulley is decreased and the production and labor costs are decreased.
By means of the present invention, a lightweight and durable pulley with improved mechanical strength is realized. Thus, the consumer satisfaction is improved by decreasing the production and service costs of the washing machine.
The washing machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where
Figure 1 – is the schematic view of the washing machine related to an embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 2 – is the partial cross-sectional view of the washing machine related to an embodiment of the present invention.

The washing machine (1) comprises a drum (2) wherein the laundry is placed; a tub (3) wherein the drum (2) is moved; a motor (4) that moves and rotates the drum (2); a belt (5) for transferring the movement of the motor (4) to the drum (3); a pulley (6) that is disposed on the tub (3), that rotates together with the drum (2) and around which the belt (5) is wound, and a shaft (8) that is borne to the pulley (6) by means of a shaft hole (7) formed at the center of the pulley (6) and that forms the horizontal rotational axis of the drum (2). The belt (5) is wound around the circular frame on the pulley (6) and the pulley (6) is rotated together with the shaft (8) borne thereon by means of the movement received from the belt (5) that is rotated by the motor (4). The washing machine (1) can be a laundry washing machine, a laundry drying machine or a laundry washing-drying machine.
The washing machine (1) of the present invention comprises a recess-shaped depression (9) above which the shaft hole (7) is positioned and that enables the shaft hole (7) to be aligned so as to be almost in the same vertical plane as a linear central line (C) passing through the center of the contact surface between the belt (5) and the pulley (6). The depression (9) is in the form of a recess at the center of the pulley (6) so as to enable the shaft hole (7) to be brought closer to the drum (2), and enables the position of the shaft hole (7) in the horizontal direction to be adjusted so as to be in the same vertical plane as the central axis of the belt (5). Thus, the surfaces where the rotational force is transferred between the belt (5) and the pulley (6) and the pulley (6) and the shaft (8) are enabled to be almost in the same vertical plane and the movement can be transferred in a balanced and safe manner. Thus, tensions acting on the pulley (6) such as bending and twisting are eliminated.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the depression (9) is in the form of a circular recess formed by deep drawing the central region of the pulley (6). Thus, the depression (9) can easily be shaped during the production of the pulley (6) and ease of production is provided.
In another embodiment of the present invention, on the pulley (6), at least one abutment (10) is formed, extending outwards from the wall of the shaft hole (7) so as to bear against the shaft (8). The abutment (10) is in the form of a protrusion extending from the wall of the shaft hole (7) towards the shaft (8). The abutment (10) bears against the shaft (8) and increases the contact surface between the pulley (6) and the shaft (8). Thus, by keeping the wall thickness of the pulley (6) relatively low, deformations that may occur in the shaft hole (7) surface are prevented.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the abutment (10) is in the form of a ring that almost completely surrounds the shaft (8). The abutment (10) is in the form of a flange that completely surrounds the shaft (8) and bears the shaft (8). By means of the peripheral abutment (10), the pulley (6) is enabled to be grouped on the shaft (8) in a secure and durable manner and the strength of the pulley (6) is increased.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the pulley (6) is fixed to the shaft (6) by means of a fixing means (11) connected to the shaft (6) and a washer (13) having a skirt (12) seated on the abutment (10) so as to surround the abutment (10) is placed between the fixing means (11) and the pulley (6). The washer (13) is fitted on the abutment (10) so that the skirt (12) surrounds the abutment (10). The fixing means (11) is connected to the end of the shaft (8) extending outwards through the shaft hole (7), and the washer (13) bears against the pulley (6) so as to remain between the fixing means (11) and the pulley (6). By means of the skirt (12) surrounding the abutment (10), the abutment (10) is supported and the strength thereof is increased.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the pulley (6) is produced from sheet metal material. Thus, by means of the low cost sheet metal material, cost advantage is provided. Moreover, operational errors that may occur as a result of the air gaps and surface irregularities that may be formed during the molding process are prevented.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the pulley (6) is produced from sheet metal material with a wall thickness of 0.8-1 mm. Thus, the pulley (6) is enabled to have an ideal strength to weight ratio.
By means of the present invention, the forces acting on the pulley (6) are balanced and the strength of the pulley (6) is increased by strengthening the connection between the pulley (6) and the shaft (8). Thus, by producing the pulley (6) from thin sheet metal, ease of production and cost advantage is provided.
