Description

A PLANT GROWING CABINET WITH IMPROVED AIR FLOW
The present invention relates to a domestic type plant growing cabinet.
Domestic type plant growing cabinets are known in the state of the art. In plant growing cabinets, the increase in internal cabin temperature and relative humidity caused by water and light sources necessary for growing plants, negatively affect the germination and the plant growing conditions of the seeds planted in the plant growing cabinet, and cause the plants to get harmed.
In the state of the art plant growing cabinets, the air drawn from a lower vent is generally transferred to the back of the body and rises to an upper vent. The rising air passes through the openings provided behind the body and reach the light sources and the plants in the body. However, since the light sources cannot be cooled to a desired level, an extreme heat increase occurs in the plant growing cabinet, thereby decreasing the performance of the plant growing cabinet.
State of the art Chinese patent document no. CN102132366 discloses a domestic type plant growing cabinet.
The aim of the present invention is to realize a plant growing cabinet in which the above-mentioned disadvantages are eliminated by improving the air flow.
The plant growing cabinet realized to achieve the aim of the present invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims, comprises a body, a plant growing unit in which the growing medium (soil, turf, etc.) for the plants provided in the body, is positioned and in which the plants germinate and grow, at least one opening provided on the body, allowing air exchange between the outer environment and the body, and at least one light source providing the plants the light they need. The plant growing cabinet also comprises at least one guide enabling the air drawn through the opening to be directed to the light source and the plants in a proportion predetermined by the producer.
In an embodiment of the invention, the plant growing cabinet comprises a suction fan enabling drawing of the air from the outer environment into the plant growing cabinet. Thanks to the suction fan, the air required for cooling and the ventilation system can be drawn from the outer environment.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the suction fan is provided on the guide. The air drawn from the outer environment can be directly conveyed into the cabinet thanks to the fan being on the guide, increasing the efficiency of the ventilation system.
In another derivative of this embodiment, the suction fan is provided in the first vent arranged on the lower portion of the body, and the exhaust fan enabling the air inside to be circulated in the plant growing cabinet and to be transferred to the outer environment, is provided in the second vent arranged on the upper portion of the body. The air drawn from outside is enabled to circulate the entire cabinet until it is discharged, thanks to the fans being on two separate ends of the cabinet. The positioning of the fans in the vents provides an ease of mounting. The air drawn through the first vent by means of the suction fans is directed to the back wall of the body. The air sucked by means of the exhaust fans provided on the second vent, is conveyed to the light sources and the plants through the openings provided on the body, during its upwards flow.
In an embodiment of the invention, filters are placed in the vents. A first filter placed in the first vent enables cleaning of the air drawn inside, a second filter placed in the second vent enables cleaning of the air which completed its circulation, when it is being discharged to the outer environment. By this, the air in closed circulation in the plant growing cabinet is purified from odor, dust and particles. In an embodiment of the invention, the plant growing cabinet comprises a plate covering the back wall of the body in full length. The upper end of the plate is aligned with the second vent, and the lower end is aligned with the first vent. The plant growing cabinet also comprises an air duct enabling the air drawn through the first vent, to be transferred to the second vent by conveying it along the body and passing it through the guide. Thanks to the plate, it is no longer necessary to bring the plant growing cabinet adjacent to a wall, and the user can use the product wherever he/she may desire.
In an embodiment of the invention, the plant growing cabinet comprises a first air channel and a second air channel. The first air channel directs the air drawn from the outer environment to the light source, and the second air channel directs the air to the plants. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the air conveyance capacity of the first air channel is three or four times more than the air conveyance capacity of the second air channel. By this, the heat dissipated by the light source is prevented from affecting the plants negatively.
Thanks to the invention, the increase in relative humidity occurring after evaporation forming on the surface of the plant growing unit due to the irrigation system provided in the plant growing cabinet, is prevented. Thus, development rate of unwanted microbiological organisms (fungus, bacteria, etc.) in the plant growing cabinet, is restricted.
The exemplary embodiments of the plant growing cabinet realized to achieve the aims of the present invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a plant growing unit in an embodiment of the invention.
