Description
DESCRIPTION
"CIGARETTE WITH INTEGRATED LAMP"
FIELD OF ART
The invention relates to the cigarette and smoker's articles field of art, and in particular to a cigarette having a built-in lamp for illumination thereof.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The cigarette disclosed in the present invention with a built-in lamp has not been disclosed in the prior art.
The cigarette consists of small pieces of processed tobacco wrapped in paper. For this purpose one end is ignited, usually using matches or a lighter, the other being placed in the mouth of the smoker, from where the smoke produced is occasionally inhaled. Cigarette, although recognized as a harmful health option, is a huge global market for people of all ages, regardless of their economic, mental or social situation. According to surveys so far there are 1,1 billion smokers worldwide, and every day about 80.000-100.000 young people start smoking, with pioneers in Europe, the Greeks, as they are at the top of smokers, according to a corresponding survey on the attitudes of Europeans, with regard to smoking.
The world market is estimated to have stood at $ 1 billion in 2013, growing constantly, from 2008 to 20 million, in 2009 to 39 million, in 2010 to 82 million, in 201 1 to 195 million, in 2012 to 500 million dollars.
Numerous efforts have been made so far so that cigarettes stop being simply considered as an unhealthy or risky choice for the organism, in order to expand the commercial base. In addition, tobacco companies are constantly investing in research and development of new technologies that will make smoking even more appealing to consumers. The problem often occurring is that the options available for cigarette customization as a product are limited. Inevitably, the choices in the tobacco and the wrapping paper are limited, while aesthetically they could be considered monotonous without giving any visual stimulus to the smoker, which could further increase the enjoyment of smoking.
Another issue that smokers often face up to now is the inability to light the cigarette when unfavourable weather conditions prevail. Strong air or cold may not allow the ignition of the cigarette lighter or the flame of the match, so the smoker will be severely distressed.
An additional disadvantage to classic cigarettes, irrespective of their type, is their inability to retain the greatest proportion of their harmful substances. The existence of filter contributes in part, but does not
completely prevent the entry of undesirable substances into the smoker's body.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to advantageously overcome the aforementioned disadvantages and shortcomings of the prior art by suggesting a cigarette with a built-in lamp.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a cigarette with a built-in lamp, which incorporates a battery-operated light-emitting diode in its filter, to give separate light to the cigarette.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a cigarette with a built-in lamp which has a double filter for effectively protecting the smoker from the harmful substances of the inhaled smoke.
A further object of the invention is to present a cigarette with a built- in lamp, which has at the front end thereof a match, enabling the user to light the cigarette without the use of a separate lighter or match.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a cigarette with a built-in lamp, which has an easy control system for actuating it so that the user decides when to avoid unnecessary battery power consumption.
Another feature of the concept is the existence of an orifice, made of a stylish material, to give the feeling of increased luxury to the smoker.
A further advantage of the invention is the ability to adapt and apply the built-in lamp, as well as all other special features, to both conventional
cigarettes and other types such as twisted cigarettes, cigarillos or thin cigarettes.
These and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent in the following detailed description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which this is illustrated in an exemplary, non-limiting manner.
Figure 1 shows a schematic illustration of the cigarette with the built- in lamp, along with the other characteristic features of the cigarette.
Figure 2 shows, in an illustrative sketch, a thin type cigarette with the built-in lamp and the other structural elements.
Figure 3 shows in detail an indicative arrangement with the light- emitting diode and the batteries used to power it.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED APPLICATION
Referring now to the accompanying drawings, we will illustrate exemplary embodiments of the cigarette with the built-in lamp in order to understand both its mode of operation and the particular characteristics of the cigarette.
The cigarette with the incorporated lamp of the invention consists of a paper wrapping (1), Fig. 1 , in which the tobacco (2) is enclosed. Tobacgo (2) occupies the most space, as is logical, a first filter (3) being placed at the smoker's mouth side to retain and filter the higher percentage of undesirable substances both of tobacco (2) and the paper wrapping (1). A second filter (4) is optionally placed after the lamp space (6), in order to further retain the combustion residues.
The space (6) where the lamp (8) and the other elements for its operation, Fig. 3, are inserted is located near the smoker's mouth so that when the cigarette is burned the light is emitted and gives a beautiful aesthetic effect. Of course, this is not an inhibiting factor for positioning the lamp (8) and the rest of the elements on the front of the cigarette. The lamp (8) is a light-emitting diode type, also known as LED, characterized by its small size and low consumption, which make it ideal for such applications. Clearly any other alternative could be adopted as long as it does not affect the size and aesthetics of the resulting product. Batteries (10) are used for operating the lamp (8), which are suggested to be alkaline for greater safety, and which may be flat and round to fit better with the shape of the cigarette. Their number may vary depending on the power requirements of the lamp (8) to be used.
The operation of the lamp (8) '' is adjusted by detachable paper (9) which prevents direct contact of the lamp ends (8) with the batteries (10) acting as an insulator. When the user wishes to light up the cigarette lamp (8), he/she pulls the paper (9), allowing its metal pins to come in contact with the batteries (10). In this way, the lamp (8) is fed and light up, giving the cigarette the characteristic glow emitted by the lamp (8).
In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the cigarette may include on its front side a built-in match head (5). The head (5) essentially includes phosphorus elements, so that friction produces a spark, which lights up the cigarette. The presence of the integrated head (5) on the front of the cigarette ensures that the smoker no longer depends on other means, such as cigarette lighters and matchboxes, which he/she must carry constantly with him/her. Additionally, the direct contact of the head (5) with the paper wrapping (1) of the cigarette ensures successful ignition, under all conditions, even under intense air.
n yet another embodiment of the device, in the mouthpiece, to the user's mouth side, there may be a detachable nozzle (7) of wood, glass or other suitable material, such as porcelain, which will come into contact with the mouth of the user offering him a sense of luxury while smoking, and being washable to ensure the necessary hygiene.
In a further alternative embodiment, the integrated lamp (8), the match head (5) and the detachable nozzle (7) can also be used in other types of cigarettes, either in thin ones, fig. 2, or in twisted cigarettes prepared by the smoker himself or in cigarillos, by means of suitable respective adjustment of size of both the lamp (8) and the nozzle (7) and the match head (5).
It should be noted at this point that the description of the invention has been made by reference to exemplary embodiments, but to which the invention is not limited. Consequently, any change or modification in anything concerning the shape, dimensions, materials used and the manufacturing and assembling components used, insofar they do not constitute a novel inventive step and do not contribute to the technical development of the already known, are considered to be within the scope of this invention.
Claims
1. A cigarette with a built-in lamp, characterized in that it comprises a paper wrapping (1) enclosing tobacco (2), at the one end thereof having successively a first filter (3), a lamp compartment (6), a light-emitting diode type lamp (8) powered by a battery (10), a second filter (4) and a detachable nozzle (7), while on the other side there is a match head (5) for its lighting.
