Description

The invention relates to a bearing ring with an electrically insulating coating and a method for applying an electrically insulating coating and the use of a thermal spraying process for producing an electrically insulating coating. The field of application of the invention extends primarily to rolling bearings for electrical machines, in particular for vehicles and wind turbines.
It is generally known that an electrical current passage through a bearing can lead to damage of the bearing. There is therefore a need for electrically insulating bearings, in particular on electrically insulating bearing rings. DE 10 2013 104 186 A1 discloses a bearing ring with a body which has an electrically insulating coating of a ceramic layer with pores and a plastic for filling the pores and coating the ceramic layer. The pores in the ceramic layer have a proportion of 10 to 50%.
The object of the invention is to further develop a bearing ring for an electrical machine, and in particular to increase the insulating properties of the bearing ring against AC voltages.
A bearing ring according to the invention for an electrical machine comprises an electrically insulating coating which is formed at least partially on a base body of the bearing ring and which is formed from a thermally sprayed plastic. In other words, the electrically insulating coating consists of an electrically insulating plastic, which is applied to the base body of the bearing ring by a surface coating method according to the thermal spraying. Thus, there is no further coating on the base body of the bearing ring, in particular no ceramic layer. The electrically insulating plastic may be, for example, a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) or a polyphthalamide (PPA). Polyetheretherketone has a dielectric constant of 3, whereby the dielectrics of polyphthalamide 4. Such a low dielectric constant has a positive effect on the insulating properties of the electrically insulating coating at alternating voltages. Ceramics used for electrical insulation generally have a significantly higher dielectric constant of 8 to 9.
The inventive electrically insulating coating with plastic thus brings a significantly higher capacitive resistance compared with the prior art described above, so that the insulation performance increases and thus the bearing ring according to the invention improved insulation against high-frequency currents in a bearing, in particular a ball or roller bearings, allows. It should be noted that according to the invention, the value of the dielectric constant due to the electrically insulating coating with plastic is more favorable than in the known from the prior art composite layer of ceramic and plastic. The electrical insulation properties at AC voltages are not only dependent on the dielectric constant of the coating material, but also on the layer thickness of the electrically insulating coating. The electrically insulating coating preferably has a layer thickness of 0.05 to 1 mm. Depending on the application, the layer thickness of the electrically insulating coating can vary.
The electrically insulating coating preferably comprises reinforcing fibers and / or reinforcing particles in order to improve the mechanical properties. For example, the electrically insulating plastic comprises reinforcing fibers or reinforcing particles of carbon and / or glass and / or aramid. Furthermore, other reinforcing elements or reinforcing materials are conceivable.
In particular, the basic body of the bearing ring is coated by means of flame spraying. In the technology, a distinction is made between wire flame spraying and powder flame spraying. When wire flame spraying a wire-shaped spray material is melted by a fuel gas-oxygen flame, compressed air sprayed the melted spray material, in particular the electrically insulating plastic and flings on the substrate provided as the basic body. In contrast, powder flame spraying is based on the same principle of operation as the wire flame spraying zen, with the difference that the coating material, in particular the electrically insulating plastic is not wire-shaped but powder-shaped. The basic body of the bearing ring is preferably coated by means of high-speed spraying (HVOF), in particular using a powder as the spray material. In high velocity flame spraying, continuous high pressure fuel combustion occurs within a water or air cooled combustor. The pressure generated in the combustion chamber of a burning fuel-oxygen mixture realized together with an expansion nozzle, the high velocity of the gas jet. The spray material is fed axially into the combustion chamber or radially in the region of the expansion nozzle, as a result of which the spray particles are accelerated to high speeds in order to produce dense spray coatings with excellent adhesive properties on the base body.
Preferably, with the exception of the running surfaces for the rolling elements on the entire surface of the base body of the bearing ring, the electrically insulating coating is formed. Preferably, the electrically insulating coating is applied to an outside of the base body, on two opposite side surfaces of the base body, on a respective fillet of the base body formed between the outside and each side face, and on a respective chamfer of the base body extending from each side face to an inside of the base body. Further preferably, both bearing rings of a roller bearing are at least partially or completely coated with the electrically insulating coating. Consequently, it is also conceivable to coat the inner ring of the rolling bearing.
According to a method according to the invention for applying an electrically insulating coating at least on a part of the main body of the bearing ring, the thermal spraying, in particular the flame spraying for melting and Beför- the electrically insulating plastic is used on the base body. Usually, plastics are processed by injection molding. However, for the production of an electrically insulating coating by injection molding, an injection mold would be required for each design and layer thickness. Preferably, the electrically insulating coating is sealed with at least superficial pores with a resin or a polymer.
Preferably, the electrically insulating coating is mechanically processed.
