Abstract

Described is a multi-layer finishing product (10) for the surface finishing of leather, fabrics, paper or microfibre comprising a transparent adhesive layer (2), a polymer layer (1) and a transparent protective layer (4). The polymer layer (1) is interposed between the transparent adhesive layer (2) and the transparent protective layer (4). The transparent adhesive layer (2) is configured to penetrate imperfections of a layer of leather, fabric, paper or microfibre (3) allowing the polymer layer (1) and the transparent protective layer (4) to anchor and level the surface of the layer of leather, fabric, paper or microfibre (3), in a configuration for heating and melting the multi-layer finishing product (10).

Description

Multilayer finishing product for surface finishing of skins, fabrics, paper or microfiber
DESCRIPTION
Technical field
This invention relate to a multi-layer finishing product for the surface finishing of leather, fabrics, paper or microfibre.
Background art
This surface finishing is achieved in the prior art for example by spraying, by means of a roller or with a curtain coating machine. Currently, the finishing product (resin, varnish etc.) is applied directly in a liquid form (with H20 and/or solvents).
Disadvantageously, the leather (but also the fabric, the paper and the microfibre) has imperfections which can be, for example, due to small holes or scars present on the skin of the animal. The treatments listed above cover perfectly these imperfections, resulting in a surface which is not perfectly flat, and, therefore, such as to require further processing which requires time and money.
Not all of the material is deposited on the surface with the spray method and even approximately half of the product bounces off and is lost.
The application by roller causes a loss of material in the start-up step and during the regular maintenance of the latter; also, on account of the heating of the roller, there is evaporation of the product since it is in a liquid form.
The.curtain coating machine operates by depositing product in a cascade fashion; it is therefore a process with excess product, with consequent waste.
Water and solvents also penetrate into the leather (and also into the fabric, paper and microfibre), resulting in shrinkage and hardening of the latter. Moreover, further processing is necessary to give strength, sheen and a better feeling when touched.
Disclosure of the invention An aim of this invention is to provide means for overcoming the drawbacks of the prior art.
More specifically, this invention relates to a multi-layer finishing product as defined in the accompanying claims.
Brief description of the drawings
Further features and advantages of the invention are described in more detail below, with reference to a preferred, non-limiting embodiment of the multi-layer finishing product with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
- Figure 1 shows the multi-layer finishing product in a step of applying on a layer of, for example, leather.
- Figure 2 shows the multi-layer finishing product applied on a layer of, for example, leather.
Detailed description
A multi-layer finishing product 10 is described below with reference to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2.
Reference will be made hereinafter to a layer of leather but this invention may also be applied on layers of fabric, paper and microfibre.
The multi-layer finishing product 10 for the surface finishing of leather comprises two layers: a polymer layer 1 and a transparent adhesive layer 2 and a transparent protective layer 4.
The transparent adhesive layer 2 is the one which is in direct contact with a layer of leather 3 and is configured to penetrate into the imperfections normally present in it. Moreover, the adhesive layer 2 allows the polymer layer 1 and the protective layer 4 to anchor to the layer of leather 3 and therefore level it, finishing it superficially in a configuration for heating and melting the multi-layer finishing product 10.
This transparent adhesive layer 2 is configured for melting between a temperature value between approximately 70°C and 120°C, preferably 95°C.
As an alternative to what is illustrated in Figure 1 , the polymer layer 1 may be formed by several layers of polymer having different characteristics to obtain specific degrees of transparency and cover, brightness and intensity.
The multi-layer finishing product 10 is also such as to penetrate in the imperfections of the layer of leather 3 using the action of a compression element.
Figure 2 shows a portion of a leather product "P" comprising a multi-layer finishing product 10 as described above. It is understood that this invention may be applied on fabric, paper or microfibre products.
