Referring to Figure 2, wheel knuckle 101 is further coupled to a lower control arm 140 and an upper control arm 160 of vehicle suspension 156, Each of control arms 140, 160 may have a single arm or a multiple arm ("wishbone'') shape, and have a pivot at each end. Lower control arm 140 is hingedly coupled to the inner side 102 of wheel knuckle 101 at lower pin openings 142, 144 above wheel hub mount 120.
  • lower control arm 140 is positioned between lower pin openings 142 and 144, and a lower pivot pin 143 is threaded through lower control arm 140 and lower openings 142, 144, thereby hingedly securing lower control arm 140 with wheel knuckle 101 , allowing lower control arm 140 to pivot ⁇ e.g., moving vertically) with respect to knuckle 101.

Accordingly, as the vehicle travels along uneven surfaces, the vehicle chassis remains stabilized at substantially the same height while experiencing varying distances from the ground and the wheels (which follow the fluctuations of the ground), where such fluctuations are independently offset for each wheel by its designated wheel knuckle assembly.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un joint d'articulation de roue de véhicule et un ensemble joint d'articulation de roue, raccordant le moyeu de roue à la suspension de véhicule. Le joint d'articulation de roue comprend un support de moyeu de roue au niveau de la section inférieure, le support de moyeu de roue étant accouplé à un moyeu de roue. Le joint d'articulation de roue comprend des orifices d'accouplement de pivot inférieurs disposés au-dessus du support de moyeu de roue, et des orifices d'accouplement de pivot supérieurs disposés au-dessus des orifices d'accouplement de pivot inférieurs. Un bras de commande inférieur et un bras de commande supérieur de la suspension de véhicule sont chacun accouplés à une extrémité au châssis du véhicule, et sont chacun accouplés de manière articulée à l'autre extrémité au joint d'articulation de roue au niveau d'orifices inférieurs et d'orifices supérieurs, respectivement, de sorte que le bras de commande inférieur soit accouplé au-dessus de l'arbre d'entraînement du moyeu de roue, ce qui permet d'étendre la plage de déplacement vertical du moyeu de roue et d'améliorer la garde au sol du véhicule. Le joint d'articulation de roue peut comprendre un support de moyeu de direction au niveau d'une section supérieure, le support de moyeu de direction pouvant être accouplé de manière rotative à un élément de direction du véhicule.
