Description

SHOULDER ORTHOSES
DESCRIPTION
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to a shoulder orthosis used to treat the functioning of movable body parts, especially that of the shoulder, and to support or correct weak muscles or joints. The invention particularly relates to a shoulder orthosis that fixes the shoulder, thereby restricting its free movement.
PRIOR ART
The orthosis, like an orthopedic device, tool or brace, is applied externally to the body. The orthosis is expected to protect the damaged tissues, facilitate movement, support healing and reduce pain.
According to the body parts in which they are used, orthoses are named as hand orthoses, knee orthoses, neck corsets etc. Shoulder orthoses and shoulder slings are supporting products for the shoulder that are used for pain in the shoulder, fractures and dislocation, and postoperative situations. The aim is restricting movement, ensuring full immobility where necessary, supporting the weight of the arm, and supporting healing.
Shoulder-fixing orthoses are products that support the shoulder in the paralyzed arm and stabilise it in a suitable position. They play an important role, and reduce pain, in preventing dislocation of the shoulder and in facilitating the patient's walking training and other rehabilitation efforts.
However, shoulder orthoses that are currently in use suffer from various shortcomings. For instance, shoulder orthoses currently in use provide only enveloping and holding while being incapable of restricting the free movement of joints and fixing the joints. For this reason, the healing of damage to the muscles and joints takes a long time. Another disadvantage of the shoulder orthoses currently in use is that they fail to warm up the region on which they are used.
Also, the shoulder orthoses currently in use are incapable of creating a magnetic field, which in turn gives rise to a failure to provide an adequate circulation of blood in the region.
The invention entitled "Shoulder orthosis," with application no. EP08779231 .3, Class A61 F 5/01 IPC, encountered during a literature research is a shoulder orthosis that comprises a support section that is positioned on a shoulder of a user and that has a front and rear side in order to place, during use, on the front and rear of the shoulder joint of the shoulder, respectively, a chest strap for binding to said front and rear sections and for reaching around a user's chest, a sleeve to be applied around an arm connected to the user's shoulder, and tension straps used to bind the support section and the sleeves. The sleeve is a lower arm sleeve for being positioned around said lower arm, the support section comprises the upper arm sleeve in order to be positioned on the upper arm of said arm, and said straps combine the upper arm sleeve and the lower arm sleeve. Another invention found in the literature is that entited Orthosis containing at least one textile bandage," with patent number EP1 1758085.2, class A61 F 5/37 IPC. This invention relates to an orthosis for placement on a body part, that is not formed as a fixed mould part adapted to the body part's peripheral form, and that comprises at least one holding element and a fixing element connecting the two ends of the holding element to each other under tension while resting on the body part.
Examining the above orthoses, it is seen that there exist no improvements that distinguish shoulder orthoses from other products more distinctively. Also, there are no improvements to restrict the free movement of the shoulder in order to keep the joints fixed.
As a result, improvements for shoulder orthoses are sought, as a result of which a new embodiments eliminating the above disadvantages and providing a solution for the existing systems is required. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The current invention relates to a shoulder orthosis that enables said joints to be held in a fixed position.
The main purpose of the invention is to fix the shoulder in order to restrict the free movement of the joints. This way, damage to the muscles and joints take less time to heal.
Another purpose of the invention is to intensify the blood cells, thereby increasing the supply rate. This is ensured by the magnets contained. Yet another purpose of the invention is to heat the shoulder region and to increase blood flow and supply to the shoulder region. The heating of the shoulder region is ensured by chrome wires and woolen fabric.
In order to realise all of the above-mentioned purposes, which will be explained in detail in the following, the current invention is a shoulder orthosis that comprises an elastic fabric covering the remaining part after the shoulder region is covered, and restricts free movement by fixing the shoulder, characterised in that it comprises a magnet creating a magnetic field, binding straps ensuring its placement on the shoulder region, a chrome wire enabling the heating of the shoulder region, a power source enabling the operation of the shoulder orthosis, and a joint- fixing strap ensuring the fixation of the joints.
In order that it is understood properly in terms of its embodiment and ancillary elements as well as its advantages, the current invention must be considered together with the figures that are explained below. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to a shoulder orthosis (1 ) that meets the above-mentioned requirements, eliminates all of the disadvantages, and offers certain additional advantages.
In this detailed description, the innovation of the invention is described by way of non-limiting examples for the better understanding of the subject. Accordingly, the following description and figures relate to the shoulder orthosis restricting the free movement of the shoulder by fixing it, and the structural elements constituting this mechanism, comprised of a magnet (1 .1 ) creating a magnetic field, woolen fabric (1 .2) covering the shoulder region, elastic fabric (1 .3) that covers the remaining part after the shoulder region is covered and increases the fixing strength, the fixing straps (1 .4) that ensure that the shoulder orthosis (1 ) remains fixed on the shoulder region, chrome wire (1 .5) ensuring the heating of the shoulder region, power supply (1 .6) ensuring the operation of the shoulder orthosis (1 ), and a shoulder fixing strap (1 .7) ensuring the joints to remain fixed.
The magnet (1 .1 ) seen in figure 1 shall create a magnetic field in the shoulder region. This way, the magnet shall intensify the blood cells, thereby increasing the supply rate. In order to fulfil its purpose, the magnet (1 .1 ) must be at least two in number. However, in alternative embodiments it is possible to provide 6 magnets (1 .1 ), 3 in the front row and 3 in the rear row, for the purpose of achieving maximum effect. The woolen fabric (1 .2) found on the shoulder orthosis (1 ) seen in figure 1 both provides heat and acts as an insulator.
The elastic fabric (1 .3) on the shoulder orthosis (1 ) supports the fixing straps (1 .4) and the joint fixing strap (1 .7) by virtue of being elastic.
The shoulder orthosis (1 ) comprises fixing straps (1 .4) and a joint fixing strap (1 .7) restricting the shoulder and the joints, thereby their free movement. Also, when in place, the joint fixing strap (1 .7) restricts the movement of the arm, thereby restricting and narrowing the movement and angle of the joint.
Also, the power source (1 .6) that is provided ensures the heating of the chrome wire (1 .5). This way, the chrome wire (1 .5) heats the shoulder region and increases blood flow and supply to the shoulder region.
