Description

Openable frame and wing assembly with low obstruction opening system
The present invention relates to an openable frame and wing assembly with low obstruction opening system.
For the purposes of the present invention, with the term frame and wing assembly are indicated the architectural elements designed for the closing of passages, which can be installed in a wall or a fence, and that put in communication the interior and the exterior of a building or, more generally, of an area bounded by the walls or fences, or two interior rooms of the building or of the bounded area itself. For the purposes of the present invention, therefore, with the term frame and wing assembly will be referred to indifferently gates, doorways, windows, doors, or the like.
Moreover, again for the purposes of the present invention, with the term frame it will be referred to the set of fixed parts of the frame and wing assembly, while with the term wing it will be indicated the relative moving parts.
It is known that frame and wing assemblies can have different opening systems. The most common opening system is the hinged one, in which one or more wings are rotatable, with hinges fixed on a vertical side and the closure on the opposite side. A problem of this opening system consists in the fact that it requires a free space on the side of the frame and wing assembly for the opening of wings, or in front of the frame and wing assembly, to allow rotation of the same wings around the hinges. By contrast, once opened, the wings can assume a very reduced encumbrance position, when they lie side by side to a wall. To this end, the frame and wing assemblies with hinged opening system are often positioned in close proximity to a corner of the walls of the delimited room for which they are intended, with the hinges on the side of the frame and wing assembly closer to the corner itself, so that, once opened, the wing approaches the wall which forms the comer with the one on which it is disposed the passage for which it is intended the frame and wing assembly.
As an alternative to the hinged opening system, in the case of limited space it is frequent to make use of the sliding opening system, consisting of sliding wings that open laterally with respect to the closing position. This opening system does not need space in front of the frame and wing assembly, but still requires that the same space is provided laterally, resulting in the need of a wall space, laterally to the passage for which the frame and wing assembly is intended, equal to at least the size of the passage itself.
In this context it is included the solution according to the present invention, which aims to provide an openable frame and wing assembly with a reduced-encumbrance opening system, which combines the advantages of the two opening systems described previously, namely which, as in the case of sliding opening systems, does not require free space in front of the frame and wing assembly, ie neither before nor behind the frame and wing assembly, to allow the opening of the wing, and even less, as in the case of hinged opening systems, requires space laterally to the frame and wing assembly.
These and other results are achieved according to the present invention by proposing an openable frame and wing assembly with low obstruction opening system, provided with a sliding system of the wing, or of the wings, such as to define a roto-translation movement of the wing itself, obtained by combining the translation movement of a sliding opening system with the movement of rotation on the hinges of a hinged opening system.
Purpose of the present invention is therefore to provide for an openable frame and wing assembly with low obstruction opening system which allow to overcome the limits of the openable frame and wing assembly according to the prior art and to obtain the previously described technical results.
A further object of the invention is that said openable frame and wing assembly with low obstruction opening system can be realized with substantially contained costs, as far as both production costs and operating costs are concerned.
Not the last purpose of te invention is to propose openable frame and wing assemblies with low obstruction opening system that are simple, safe and reliable.
It is therefore a specific object of the present invention an openable frame and wing assembly for closing a passage for communication between the inside and the outside of an area bounded by a plurality of walls and/or by a fence, said frame and wing assembly comprising a frame and at least one wing apt to slide in a horizontal direction, wherein said frame consists of a lateral frame portion, apt to be arranged on a wall adjacent to said passage, and a front frame portion, apt to be arranged in correspondence of said passage, said lateral frame portion and said front frame portion being joined along a vertical side, said frame and wing assembly comprising a sliding element, and guiding means for guiding the sliding of said sliding element, which define a rectilinear path comprised between a first position in the vicinity of the side of said lateral frame portion joined to said front frame portion and a second position in the vicinity of the side of said lateral frame portion which is more distant from, said sliding element being coupled with possibility to rotate to said at least one wing, along a vertical side of said at least one wing; said frame and wing assembly additionally comprising guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least one wing, which define a path divided into three portions, namely a first straight portion in correspondence of said passage, which extends for a length lower than the overall width of said passage, from a first end near the side of said passage farther with respect to said lateral frame portion to a second end near the side of said passage closest with respect to said lateral frame portion; a second straight portion, in correspondence of said lateral frame portion, which extends for a length lower than the overall length of said lateral frame portion, from a first end near the side of said lateral frame portion closer with respect to said passage to a second end near the side of said lateral frame portion farther with respect to said passage; and a curved portion, connecting said second end of said first straight portion and said first end of said second straight portion; said at least one wing being bonded to said guiding means for guiding its sliding through the intermediary of a sliding element coupled to said wing with possibility to rotate around an axis perpendicular to the lying plane of said rectilinear portions and said curved portion of said path defined by said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least one wing.
In particular, according to the invention said frame and wing assembly can comprise at least two half-wings, each half-wing being coupled to the next one with possibility to rotate along a first vertical side thereof, and being coupled to the previous one with possibility to rotate along a second vertical side, each of said at least two half-wings being connected to said guiding means for guiding the sliding through a respective sliding element, coupled to said half-wing with possibility to rotate around an axis perpendicular to the lying plane of said straight portions and said curved portion of said path defined by said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least two half-wings.
Preferably, according to the invention, said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said sliding element comprise a sliding track placed under said sliding element and/or a sliding profile situated above said sliding element.
Preferably, always according to the invention, said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least one wing comprise a sliding track corresponding to said first straight portion of said path defined by said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least one wing, a sliding track corresponding to said second straight portion of said path defined by said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least one wing and a curved sliding track corresponding to said curved portion of said path defined by said guiding means for guiding the sliding of said at least one wing.
The present invention will now be described, by way of illustration but not limitation, according to a preferred embodiment thereof, with particular reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an openable frame and wing assembly according to the present invention, in the closed position,
- Figures 1A, 1 B and 1 C show respective details of the frame and wing assembly of Figure 1 ,
- Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the frame and wing assembly of Figure 1 , in a first partially open position,
- Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the frame and wing assembly of Figure 1 , in a second partially open position, subsequent to the previous one,
- Figures 3A and 3B show respective details of the frame and wing assembly of Figure 3,
- figure 4 shows a perspective view of the frame and wing assembly of Figure 1 , in a fully open position, and
- Figure 5 shows a perspective view of the components of the frame and wing assembly of Figure 1 , disassembled.
Referring to the figures, an openable frame and wing assembly according to the present invention comprises a frame 10 and one wing 11 , in the specific case of the embodiment shown said wing 11 being composed of two half-wings, a first half-wing 11 ' and a second half-wing 11", said first half-wing 11' being coupled with rotation possibility with its vertical side to a vertical side of said second half-wing 11". The embodiment shown with reference to the drawings has an illustrative value, but is not limitative of the present invention, could also be provided for the presence of only one wing or more than two wings.
The frame 10 consists of a lateral frame portion 10' and a front frame portion 10 ". The front frame portion 10 "has a generally rectangular shape and is arranged in correspondence of the passage to the closure of which the frame and wing assembly is dedicated. The lateral frame portion 10', in turn, hving a rectangular shape, is combined with one side thereof to one side of said front frame portion 10" and is disposed angled with respect to said front frame portion 10". In particular, in the embodiment shown, said front frame portion 10" and said lateral frame portion 10' are arranged adjacent and 90° angled, as normally happens in the case in which said frame and wing assembly is intended for a limited area having a parallelepiped shape and said lateral frame portion 10' is placed against the wall that form an edge with the passage to which the frame and wing assembly is intended. The arrangement of the front frame portion 10" and the lateral frame portion 10' of the embodiment of the present invention shown with reference to the drawings has an illustrative, but not limitative value of the present invention, the front frame portion 10" and the lateral frame portion 10' being two separate elements, which can also be mounted at angles different from 90°, in the case in which the passage to which the frame and wing assembly is intended does not form a right angle with the adjacent wall.
The lateral frame portion 10' comprises a base 12', which is rectilinear, apt to be inserted into a slot in the floor, said base 12' sustaining a first track 13' of sliding, which is straight, of a length equal to that of the base 12', and a second track 13" of sliding, which is straight, of a length lower than that of said first track 13' of sliding, and approximately equal to half the length of said first track 13' of sliding, with respect to which said second track 13" is arranged in central alignment. In the specific case shown in the figures, said first track 13' of sliding and said second track 13" of sliding are supported by said base 12' by means of supporting elements 14', said first track 13' of sliding and said second track 13" of sliding being apt to be arranged at the height of the floor or to a higher height. In addition, the lateral frame portion 10' comprises a profile 15 of sliding, which is rectilinear, having the same length as said first track 13' of sliding and disposed at a height higher than said first track 13' of sliding. Advantageously, said profile 15 of sliding is supported by said base 12' by means of support elements 16.
Among first said track 13' of sliding and said profile 15 of sliding is arranged a sliding element 17, provided in the lower part of a wheel 18, in particular a recessed wheel (but it could be provided with more wheels 18), which runs along said the first track 13' of sliding, and in the upper part of two carriages 19 (but could be provided with more than two carriages 19), which run internally in said profile 15 of sliding.
Said sliding element 17 is coupled with said first half-wing 11' with possibility of rotation, by means of first coupling hinges 20'. More in particular, said sliding element 17 is coupled with the vertical side of said first half-wing 11', which is opposite to that along which said first half-wing 11 ' is coupled, with the possibility of rotation, to said second half-wing 11".
The front frame portion 10" comprises a base 12", which is rectilinear, apt to be inserted into a slot in the pavement, said base 12" supporting a track 13"' of sliding, which is rectilinear, in the specific case shown in the figures supported by said base 12" by means of support elements 14"; said track 13"' of sliding being apt to place themselves at the height of the floor or at a greater height. Said track 13"' of sliding reaches out from the end of said front frame portion 10" that is opposite with respect to the end apt to be approached to said lateral frame portion 10', for a length greater than the half of the length of said base 12" and smaller than the overall length of said base 12". In addition, the front frame portion 10" comprises two posts 21 , which from the two ends of the base 12' are raised vertically, defining the two lateral ends of the passage for which the frame and wing assembly is intended.
Both said first half-wing 11 ' and said second half-wing 11" rest on said track 13"' of sliding, respectively, through the intermediary of a first wheel 18' arranged in the lower part of said first half-wing 11' and a second wheel 18" arranged in the lower part of said second half-wing 11". In particular, said first wheel 18' and said second wheel 18" are both recessed wheels, which run along said track 13"" of sliding. More in particular, said first wheel 18' of said first half-wing 11' is placed in the vicinity of the side of the first half-wing 11', which is more distant from that through which said first half-wing 11 ' is coupled to said sliding element 17, and said second wheel 18" of said second half-wing 11" is placed in the vicinity of the side of the second half-wing 11" more distant from that through which said second half-wing 11" is coupled to said first half-wing 11 '. The coupling with the possibility of rotation between said first half- wingl 1' and said second half-wing 11" is secured by means of hinges 20".
Finally, there is provided a curved track 22, connecting said second track 13" of sliding of said lateral frame portion 10' and said track 13"' of sliding of said front frame portion 10". On this curved track 22 the wheels 18' of said first half-wing 11 ' and 18" of said second half-wing 11" of the frame and wing assembly run, said wheels 18', 18" having to consequently allow a certain possibility of rotation with respect to the vertical, as shown in particular in figures 3A and 3B. To allow such a possibility of rotation, the wheels 18', 18" are recessed into a respective housing 23', 23" connected to the respective half-wing 11 ', 1" through a respective pin 24', 24", in particular as shown in figures 1 B and 1C.
The operation of the openable frame and wing assembly according to the present invention is illustrated in the sequence of Figures 1-4, wherein it is shown how the opening of the frame and wing assembly involves a translation of the sliding element 17 along the path defined downwardly by the first track 13' of sliding and upwardly by the profile 15 of sliding of the lateral frame portion 10'. In its sliding movement, said sliding element 17 drags with it said first half-wing 11', which in turn drags said second half-wing 11". The latters with the respective wheels 18', 18" first run through said track 13"' of sliding of the front frame portion 10", then through said curved track 22 and finally through said second track 13" of sliding of the lateral frame portion 10'. A movement of translation and rotation of the two half-wings 11 ', 11" follows, in the fully open position said half-wings approaching the lateral frame portion 10', with an occupation of very small space. It is also obvious that the space required by the rotation of the half-wings 11 is also very small, and corresponds, as shown in Figure 2, to a space with a maximum distance from the corner between the lateral frame portion 10' and the front frame portion 10" equal to half the length of the wing. As already specified earlier, the number of wings can vary in function of the amplitude of the passage for which the frame and wing assembly is intended, and in consideration of the space occupied in the process of rototranslation from the closed position to the open position. It is evident that increasing the number of wings, their dimensions at the base are reduced, and consequently the space occupied during the roto-translation is reduced.
Consequently, the openable frame and wing assembly according to the present invention makes it possible to pursue the results that have been set out, in an efficient manner and without any constructive complication.
Among other things, the separation of the lateral frame portion 10' and the front frame portion 10" not only allows to adapt the assembly to the case in which the passage and the wall adjacent thereto are not arranged at an angle of 90° (to this end being only necessary to provide for reshaping accordingly the curved track 22, to adapt to different angular configuration), but also allows to have a frame and wing assembly with a greatly reduced transportation dimensions.
The present invention has been described by way of example, but not limitation, according to its preferred embodiments, but it is to be understood that variations and/or modifications may be made by the skilled in the art without departing from its scope of protection as defined by the attached claims.
