Definitions
- the invention relates to a tympanic membrane assembly and a corresponding manufacturing method.
- Drum file assemblies generally also called eardrum, batter head or string skin
- a tympanic membrane assembly comprises a membrane, also called a vibratable diaphragm, which is formed from a plastic film, tanned animal skin or woven fabric, wherein the edge zone of the membrane between a first and a second ring member is frictionally bordered.
- the first ring element is usually L- or U-shaped in cross-section and thus has a channel for receiving the edge zone or the collar of the membrane.
- the second ring element which usually has a rectangular cross-section, added.
- a protruding outer side wall or a leg of the first ring member is folded together with the edge zone of the membrane by material deformation sandwiched around the second ring member or crimped around.
- a disadvantage of the described eardrum construction or assembly is the considerable mechanical effort, by means of mechanical reworking in metal forming process, ie by crimping or folding the exposed leg to add a square ring.
- a disadvantage of the described eardrum construction is the filling of the U-channel of the first ring element with an adhesive, for example. Epoxy resin to a frictional connection with the edge zone of the membrane manufacture. This process is not only time consuming, but also provides additional design challenges in permanently bonding the adhesive to the membrane and the first ring member. It is important to ensure that the affected bonding surfaces are free of dirt and grease for optimal adhesion.
- the drum head assembly according to the invention for a percussion instrument comprises a first ring element, which has a substantially U-shaped annular channel with an inner side wall, an outer side wall and a channel bottom, with at least one membrane, which has a peripheral membrane collar which extends through extends the open part of the annular channel and with a second ring member which substantially fills this annular channel and embeds the membrane collar of the membrane in the installed state in the annular channel to secure the membrane collar in the annular channel at least against the inner side wall and the outer side wall, wherein the Tympanic membrane assembly comprises at least a third ring element, which is arranged opposite to the first and second ring element.
- the third ring element is substantially L-shaped, formed with a horizontal, inner L-leg and a vertical, outer L-leg, wherein on the outer L-leg and on the outer side wall of the first ring member connecting means are formed, which are adapted to connect the first ring element with the third ring element positively and / or non-positively and / or cohesively, so that in this way a closure mechanism is formed. Bonded connections are to be understood as meaning welded or adhesive bonds.
- the connecting means are designed as tongues and abutments. Depending on a tongue and each abutment are opposite each other, interlock and form tongue-abutment pairs whose dimensions are such that each with respect to the outer L-leg and outer side wall opposite and interlocking tongue-abutment pairs the
- the tongue-abutment pairs engage with each other precisely fitting and secure the membrane collar in the annular channel frictionally and positively, in addition to the inner L-leg and the channel bottom.
- at least two tongue-abutment pairs are provided.
- a tongue and an abutment are formed on the outer side wall of the first ring member and a tongue and an abutment are integrally formed on the outer L-leg of the third ring member.
- the tongue and the abutment fit snugly together.
- first and third ring element can be assembled in the simplest way. On a beading can be dispensed with. The production process is considerably accelerated.
- the closure mechanism between the first and third ring element is achieved by a type of toothing.
- the connecting means are arranged as a first row of teeth arranged on the outer side wall of the first ring element and arranged as a second row of teeth on the outer L-leg of the third ring element.
- the toothing may, for example, be designed analogously to a dovetail connection.
- Other shapes, such as tongue-like formations of the teeth are also possible.
- One of the advantages of the invention is that a suitably permanent detachable or non-detachable connection is achieved by a suitable choice of the shape of the connecting elements on the first and third ring element.
- the ring elements are made of extruded or die-cast plastic.
- the ring elements are made of extruded or die-cast aluminum. A combination of both materials is also conceivable.
- the ring elements are designed as joinable ring segments, for example at least two segments.
- One of the advantages of the invention is that the storage of semi-finished products designed as ring segments is considerably simplified before their assembly, since the storage volume is optimized.
- the ring elements are composed of several segments.
- the locking mechanism maintains the strength of the eardrum assembly.
- a membrane is placed on a first ring element in a first method step.
- a membrane collar is embedded in an annular channel of the first ring element.
- a second ring element is introduced into the annular channel, preferably results between the second Ring element and the ring channel a play-free fit.
- a third ring element is connected to the first ring element in a positive-locking and / or non-positive and / or cohesive manner.
- the membrane is already connected to the second ring element, for example by gluing the membrane collar to the second ring element. It is a prefabricated semi-finished product.
- the third ring element is connected to the first ring element, by tongue-abutment pairs arranged on an outer L-leg of the third ring element and an outer side wall of the first ring element snugly engaging each other and thereby the membrane collar secure frictionally and positively against the ring elements in the annular channel of the first ring element.
- the third ring element in the third method step, is connected to the first ring element in a material-locking manner by welding or gluing.
- the assembly of the first ring element and / or of the second ring element and / or the third ring element of at least two ring segments takes place in an additional method step.
- these ring segments were extruded from plastic or aluminum.
