Abstract

The structure of the glazed external blind and the roller blind in a housing (20) is used to replace classical interior and exterior shading systems for windows, balcony doors, conservatories, covered terraces, pergolas, camping trailers, campers, skylights, entrance doors, window displays and other translucent joinery elements. This is a frame glazed from one side with an integrated shade (1), which is exactly adapted to the casement (35) of the existing window (30) forming an almost hermetically closed chamber between the glass surfaces (4) and (34), within which there is moving the shade (1). The structure frame (6) according to the invention (20) is hung on the external side of the casement (35) of the existing window (30) with the pivot bushes (10), and is fixed on the opposite site with sheet metal latches (13) and closure systems (9) in order to allow moving of the shade when opening the casement (35) of the window (30) together with it. The shade with a mechanism and guides (1, 2, 3), which is an internal shade based on its composition, simultaneously functions as both, an internal and external shading system. This facilitates the handling with the shade and at the same time reduces the possibility of failures, the accumulation of dust and the unsupervised raising from outside. The installation of the structure according to the invention (20) is possible both on new woodwork as well as to already built-in woodwork. The latter is protected against harmful environmental effects, the structure adds an additional decorative aspect while increasing the thermal and acoustic insulation, mechanical resistance and anti-burglary protection at the same time.

Description

EXTERNAL BLIND IN A GLAZED HOUSING
Subject of the invention
The subject of the invention are glazed external Venetian blinds and roller blinds in a housing, namely a glazed structure with an integrated shading system, Venetian blind or a roller blind, which replaces the established shades for windows, balcony doors and other elements of translucent woodwork. The subject of the invention may be installed both in new buildings as well as to existing windows, balcony doors, camping trailers, campers, conservatories, pergolas, skylights, entrance doors and other related items. The glazed external Venetian blind protects the windows, balcony doors and other glass building surfaces against the harmful effects of the weather, such as sunlight, rain and wind. The glazed frame with the shade system improves the appearance of the building and decorates it, as well as provides additional mechanical protection and increases the thermal and acoustic insulation of the woodwork. The frame structure according to the invention may be installed both when installing new woodwork, as well as an addition to the older and already existing woodwork. With the latter, this novelty actually provides the greatest effect, since the existing woodwork is usually technologically outdated and partly worn, which greatly affects the thermal and acoustic permeability. With the application according to the invention we are able to improve in an economical way these parameters to a significantly higher level, and thus bring the properties of the existing woodwork closer to modern ecological and energy standards.
Technical issue
The technical issue, solved by the glazed frame with the shade according to the invention, is how to design such an addition to the woodwork that will provide all the beneficial effects of the external and internal shades of the established system while interfering as little as possible in the existing structure both of the new as well as the already built-in woodwork, and its handling.
A big issue when using existing products is their non-universality. The glazed frame with the shade almost entirely solves this issue, because due to its wide applicability and compatibility it can be installed both on new and already installed joinery of all types and materials, such as wood, PVC, aluminum, and mostly only by changing the surface treatment in its manufacture. The following issue, solved by the device according to the invention, are special building construction elements, which are required by some traditional external shading systems. The classic shade systems require an additional space for storing and winding the roller blinds above the window opening, namely an additional built-in bridge element, which increases the construction costs and also reduces the translucent area of the window in its upper part, where the solar radiation is most desirable due to the illumination angle of the sun, and hence provides illumination to the deepest parts of the living spaces. An issue also arises in the case of the thermal insulation of the chamber for storing the external blinds, when it is necessary to clean the blinds, there is a noise made while raising and lowering the blinds, and rustling of the blind in the case of turbulence.
A good mechanical, acoustic and thermal protection requires a combination of external and internal shades. Namely, the internal shading system by itself does not provide additional mechanical protection for the external glass and the window frame due to its placement, and also the additional thermal insulation is limited because a part of the solar rays is absorbed by the shade inside the living area, and then the shade emits heat to the living area, and the additional acoustic insulation is also negligible due to the small mass of the internal shading system. Exterior shading systems are better, however, they do not provide decoration for the interior.
Each of the existing and well-established shading systems thus solves only one part of the issue (shading and protection against external influences), and even then with certain deficiencies, while the structure according to the invention combines functionality and the advantages of the majority of the existing systems.
Prior art
There are many shading systems on the market, both external (blinds, shutters, brise soleil etc.), which provide additional mechanical safety for the building in addition to shading, as well as interior shading systems in the form of blinds and other decorative shades. But none of the known systems offers the range of advantages, provided by the structure according to the invention.
According to their positive characteristics, the window systems Internorm HV350 and HV440 with an integrated Venetian blind (http://www.internorm.com/si/produkti/studio/i-tec- inovacije.html?SA=x«&ved=0CBQQ9QEwAGoVChMIisrO8vP_xgIVQRAUCh35CQBm) are the closest to the new construction, which allows the installation of the Venetian blinds to the inside of the window, however, this requires purchasing a completely new window and may not be used in refurbishing already integrated windows, or added to new windows without an integrated shading system. At the same time these systems do not allow installations on camping trailers, campers, pergolas, conservatories, skylights and front doors.
Here are presented some of the most established solutions of external shading systems in practice, however, they should only be used upon replacement or the purchase of new woodwork:
> The Combi roller shutter (http://www.tehrol.com/combi-roletni-plasc) is a combination between a shade and external Venetian blind. It combines the good features of the two shading systems, the ventilation of the Venetian blind, and the insulation and the complete blackout of the room. A mosquito net may be inserted in the air slats.
The Sonro shade (http://www.tehrol.com/si/sonro) - the shutter of the shade is compact, composed of extruded thick- wall aluminum, which gives it its extraordinary strength. Due to the special shape of the slats, the light or air gaps are very effective. Opening in the air gap with a half-closed shutter allows a few per cent of light into the room, and an almost unobstructed view from the room. When the shade is completely down, the shading is complete.
External blinds (http://www.tehrol.com/si/zunanje-zaIuzije) are a good thermal insulator, since they prevent the glass from warming of and thus the direct entry of light into the room. With them, we simply regulate the amount of light in the room, and at the same time they do not obstruct too much of the view from the room. They are suitable for shading large industrial areas, as well as smaller private facilities. In addition to the classical system of external blinds, there are also available systems of external blinds in roller blind boxes. However, in passing, this system also has an obstacle e.g. balcony doors, as they require lifting the shade in addition to opening the door.
> The external screen (outer fabric) (http://www.tehrol.com/si/zunanji-screen) is an excellent accessory with large glass surfaces. Also, it is a very good thermal insulator and effectively prevents glare and the penetration of UV rays into the room, meanwhile its unilateral transparency allows a view from the room. The ZipScreen system is an upgrade to the original system, which includes vertical borderline zippers, which are placed in the side guides and provide tensioning of the fabric, and with this a complete protection from the influx of solar rays and also against the wind.
Aluminum brise soleils (http://www.medle.si/brisoleji) are shading systems that are much more compact and more resistant, while having much larger dimensions than the other standard shading systems. In combination with the facade, and in addition to its primary shading function, they contribute to a better appearance of the building while providing additional thermal insulation at the same time. They distribute the light in the room and prevent the accumulation of heat in it at the same time. Most commonly they are fitted on industrial and commercial and business facilities as well as modern designed residential buildings.
> Internorm HV350 and HV440 with integrated Venetian blind Solution to the technical issue
The described technical issue is solved by the glazed framed structure according to the invention 20, and its essential feature is that with the installation of the product on the outside of new or already integrated casements and other framed translucent building elements 30 (hereinafter referred to as: the window), which are usually composed of a window frame 36 and a casement 35, it raises the level of mechanical and anti-burglary resistance, as well as thermal and acoustic protection of the residential areas, whereby it combines the main elements of the already known external and internal shading systems.
The essence of the invention is an unilateral glazed frame 6, inside which is integrated a shade 1 with a mechanism for handling with the shade 2. The frame structure 20 of the device according to the invention is preferentially hung vertically with pivot bushes 10 to the vertical bar 31 of the casement 35 with the vertically hinged existing window 30 and preferentially with carriages 9 and a sheet metal latch 13 it is secured on the opposite vertical bar 32 of the casement 35, namely on the side where at the side of the window 30 there is a locking hook 33. Fastening may also be performed in a different way, without a significant impact on the invention, however, the method shown proved to be the most simple, cheap, reliable and practical way in practice. Thus, almost a hermetically sealed area is generated between the glass of the existing window 34 and the glass 4 of the device according to the invention, in which shade 1 and mechanism 2 are protected against external mechanical effects and impurities from the atmosphere, and due to this the window glass 34 and the casement frame 35 have additional mechanical protection. The aforementioned additional air chamber also enables an increased acoustic and thermal insulation. In the case of the raised shade 1, the loss of light transmission due to additional glazing 4 is minimal.
The essence of the invention is explained in detail with the description of the design of the example of invention with regard to the attached drawings, which show the following:
> Fig. 1 The vertical median section of the device 20 according to the invention version 20a,
without the fastening frame 15.
Fig. 2 The vertical median section of the device 20 according to the invention version 20b, with the fastening frame 15.
Fig. 3 The horizontal median section of the device 20 according to the invention version

> Fig. 4 The horizontal median section of the device 20 according to the invention version
20b, with the fastening frame 15.
Fig. 5 The vertical section of the device 20 according to the invention, after the installation on the window 30.
> Fig. 6 The horizontal section of the device 20 according to the invention, after the
installation on window 30.
The basic components of the device 20 according to the invention are as follows:
> Shade 1 and the mechanism for folding the shade 2 are standard and commercially available items. The mechanism for folding the blinds 2 is installed horizontally and centrally on the top bar of the internal part of the frame 6. The width of the shade slat 1 partly depends on the window 30 end-outlines and partly on the wishes of the client, preferably from 10 to 50mm. The length of the slat and the height of the shade slats 1 depend on the dimensions of the window opening 30, which is protected and shaded by the device according to the invention, as shade 1 preferentially has to entirely cover and partly also overlap the glass surface 34 of the window 30.
> The holder 3 for fastening the draw string of the shade 1 is a standard element of the shade and is fixed with a corresponding horizontal distance depending on the structure of the shade 1 to the lower frame bar 6. Usually, there are two holders 3, or three or even more in the case of longer slats. The transparent solid material 4 may be made of glass, wherein the glass is single-, double- or multi-pane (Termopan), from decorative glass, tempered glass, acrylic glass,
polycarbonate or any other transparent material, which provides the desired light permeability, decoration and mechanical strength at the same time, in order to meet the needs of the client. The strength and transparency are affected by both the type of material as well as the quality and thickness of the transparent material ; therefore the range of option is wide and does not impact in any way the invention.
A sealant (e.g. silicone) 5 sticks and thus combines the rigid frame housing 6 with the transparent solid material 4.
> The housing or the frame 6 may consist of wood, metal, plastic or composites. The cross- sections of the frame bars are adjusted to the end-outlines of the frame structure. The cross- section of the frame bar 6 may be square (not shown), rectangular, semicircular (not shown), oblique (not shown) or of any other form, however, this does not significantly affect the functionality of the structure, but has only a decorative effect. The frame bars 6 may be sharp-angled or profiled, and in a variety of colours.
> The supporting block 7, which may be made of wood or synthetic material, creates a distance between the internal and external layer of the frame 6, between which it is rigidly positioned and glued.
> The sealing rubber 8 (or silicone) provides sealing and prevents the accumulation of dust inside the area where shade 1 with the corresponding mechanically sensitive elements 2, 3 are located.
> The closure system 9 with a sheet metal latch 13 preferentially fastened to the window 30 the vertical side of the frame housing 6 which is not hinged with the pivot bush 10. The closure system may be a "pull", "spring", "snap-in", "screw", "magnetic" or of any other type, which provides sufficient efficiency and easy fastening. Several closure systems may be installed in the event of major structure 20 end-outlines along the height of the frame 6. Closure systems may also have a built-in lock, which offers an additional anti-burglary protection (not shown). The carriage 9 is located on the opposite side of the vertical frame 6 as the pivot bush 10.
> The pivot bush 10 places the entire frame structure 20 into the bearing, preferentially on the vertical axis, and together with the closure system 9 allows opening the frame structure 20 according to the invention or enables its removal from the casement 35. This is the simplest way is to clean the inner surface of the glass 4 and shade 1, or to carry out any repair or replacement of the shade 1, 2, 3. Usually, there are two pivot bushes, one is situated at the top of the vertical bar 6 of the frame structure 20, and the other at the bottom. In the case of large distances and/or greater weight of the structure 20 there may be more pivot bushes or just one continuous pivot bush, e.g. continuous hinge (not shown) along the entire height of the frame bar 6. Pivot bushes 10 may be installed on the external side of the vertical frame bar 6 or on its internal side (not shown).
> Pivot bushes 10 and the sheet metal latch 13, where the carriage 9 is placed, are fixed to the window bar 32 of the casement 35 with screws 11 with the appropriate length and load. If the casement 35, on which the frame structure 20 according to the invention is secured, is wooden, the screws are wood screws, and if the window frame 35 is made of metal or metal- plastic, the screws must be appropriate for metal.
The spindle 12 for handling and controlling the shading mechanism 2 may be used for raising and lowering the shade 1, and if the shade is a Venetian blind, it is also possible to modify the angle of its slats. The mechanism for raising (and rotating the slats) is a standard element, as the entire shade is selected from the range of standard commercially available internal shades.
> The sheet metal latch 13 should be sufficiently robust in order to provide support for the entire structure 20 according to the invention to prevent sagging, as well as stability in strong wind and if there is a lock (not shown) on the carriage 9 also anti-burglary protection. The frame structure 20 according to the invention may be implemented in two ways, 20a and 20b. With version 20a, the pivot bushes 10 and sheet metal latches 13 are fastened with the screws secured directly to the casement 35 of the existing window 30, the placement and sealing between the two is provided by the sealing rubber 8.
With version 20b, an additional flat frame 15 is placed between the existing casement 35 frame and the devices 20 according to the invention. In this case, the pivot bushes 10 and sheet metal latches 13 are secured to the said frame 15, where the sealing rubber 8 is too. In this version, only an additional frame 15 is directly connected to the existing casement 35. Because frame 15 is preferentially made of thin stainless steel sheet, the joint is secured with more screws along the entire length of its perimeter, and additionally it is water and air tight using silicone or any other appropriate sealant, which is applied in a thin layer onto the frame surface 15 that is placed on the existing casement 35. Version 20b is preferentially used with new building elements, which will most likely be more exposed to external influences, as well as for applying to worn and damaged casements 35 with already used building elements. In any case, an additional frame 15 increases the strength of the entire structure of the device 20 according to the invention, and facilitates and accelerates the installation at the same time.
> Handling the shade 1 can be done manually with a flexible shaft or a bracket wand 12, a chain or a cord (not shown), but it can also be driven with an electric motor (not shown), which is controlled by a switch in the interior of the room or via the remote control (not shown). The domestic mains electricity from electrical installations can be used to drive the motor, or electricity converted from solar cells (not shown), which are installed on the external edge of the frame structure 20 according to the invention. Motor-driven lifting and shading 1 can also be performed in combination with a light sensor (not shown), which automatically regulates the inflow of the external light into the room. All types of drives and sensor devices are standard and do not have any significant impact on the invention.
The device according to the invention is universal, which means that it can be applied on various new and already incorporated elements of joinery, such as the windows and balcony doors, as well as in conservatories, covered terraces, pergolas, camping trailers, campers, skylights, entrance doors, window displays etc.
The basic function of the device 20 according to the invention is to shade the rooms, meanwhile the device also provides additional thermal and acoustic insulation of the window 30, and greater anti- burglary protection. In the event of application on already integrated woodwork the latter is protected against harmful environmental effects while adding decoration and thus aesthetically updating the entire building, trailer, vehicle etc.
The advantages of the device according to the invention are as follows:
> The frame installation 20 according to the invention is quick and simple.
> When opening the windows, balcony doors etc., it is not necessary to pull away the roller blinds or shutters in order to enable the user to look outside or exit the room. Shade 1 as well as the entire frame structure 20 remain in the same position when opening according to casement 35, as the latter moves along with it. > The shade, which is an internal shade based on its composition, simultaneously functions as both, an internal and external shading system.
> The shading is performed on the outer side of the existing casement 35, which means that the generated heat does not spread into the living area.
> Additional glazing 4 and thus creating an intermediate air chamber between the glass 34 of the window 30 provides better thermal insulation in the event of cold, and thus savings in energy costs for heating.
> Additional glazing and the intermediate air chamber from the previous points also provide additional acoustic insulation.
The lifespan for the existing window 30 will extend.
> Also the lifespan of the shade 1, drive 2 and guides 3, which are protected by the glass 4, will extend.
> The cleaning of the shade 1 is easy, although the job has to be done less frequently due to the hermetically closed system and the absence of dust.
The movements of the shade 1 are almost inaudible.
> In the event of sudden air movements, the shade 1 does not vibrate, nor distort or emit
unwanted sounds.
> Both, the raising mechanism 2, as well as shade 1 with guides 3 do not get wet in the event of rain, which also extends the lifespan.
> The additional glazing 4 and also the structure housing 20 itself increase the anti-burglary protection of the building, while preventing any intentional or unintentional mechanical damage to shade 1 during any activities from outside the building.
> It is not possible to uncontrollably lift the shade from outside the building and thus look into the living area.
It is understood that the construction of the structure in the detail of the design and joining the basic components may slightly differ from what has been described above, however, this does not alter the main characteristics and the features of the invention.
It is also understood that an expert in this field based on his/her knowledge of the invention may also be able to design slightly different modes of practising the invention that differ from the above- described without leaving out the basic characteristics of the invention, as defined in the following patent claims:
