Abstract

A membrane filter comprises a plurality of porous layers having successively decreasing mean pore sizes. In one embodiment, the layers are formed from the same membrane which is wrapped in a cylindrical fashion. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing a membrane filter comprising wrapping a porous membrane or film in an overlapping cylindrical fashion and controlling the pore size by controlling the torque during the wrapping.
