- the invention relates to mechanical engineering, in particular to internal combustion engines operating with controlled turbocharging.
- the control of turbocharging allows to optimize the functioning of the internal combustion engine in all operating modes, to increase reliability by reducing mechanical and thermal overloads, in particular, when the pressure at the compressor outlet is higher than the maximum allowable due to a sharp close of the throttle valve or a significant increase in the engine speed.
- one of the important tasks of controlling a turbocharger is to minimize the “turbo-hole” effect, a phenomenon in which the air pressure in the engine intake manifold is much lower than that required due to the inertia of the increase in exhaust gas pressure in the turbine when the accelerator pedal is pressed abruptly. - charge air can accumulate in the inlet tract between the compressor and the throttle, which can lead to the destruction of engine components such as the compressor impeller, turbocharger axle, cooler pipe and throttle.

- the technical result of the device controlled turbocharging an internal combustion engine is to increase engine efficiency and dynamics of turbocharging control, as well as to significantly compensate for the effect of the "turbojam". This is ensured by the fact that the charge air enters the intake manifold of the internal combustion engine from one standard turbocharger through the first, main, and second, auxiliary channels, in each of which the volume of incoming charge air is regulated by controlled throttles. Description
The device of a controlled turbocharging an internal combustion engine
Technical field
The invention relates to mechanical engineering, in particular to internal combustion engines operating with controlled turbocharging.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In general, the control of turbocharging allows to optimize the functioning of the internal combustion engine in all operating modes, to increase reliability by reducing mechanical and thermal overloads, in particular, when the pressure at the compressor outlet is higher than the maximum allowable due to a sharp close of the throttle valve or a significant increase in the engine speed. In addition, one of the important tasks of controlling a turbocharger is to minimize the “turbo-hole” effect, a phenomenon in which the air pressure in the engine intake manifold is much lower than that required due to the inertia of the increase in exhaust gas pressure in the turbine when the accelerator pedal is pressed abruptly. To achieve a given gas pressure, it takes some time (usually a few seconds), during which the engine, in normal operation with a turbocharger, works like a normal aspirated engine, which leads to a loss of power and negatively affects the acceleration of the car.
A device with controlled turbocharging is known (patent application US2015 / 0240706 A1), according to which the turbine inlet of the turbocharger is connected to its outlet through the bypass valve, which makes it possible to control the speed of rotation of the turbine while reducing the engine speed when the turbine together with the compressor continues to rotate by inertia, which may lead to the generation of excess charge air. In the absence of a bypass valve, charge air can accumulate in the inlet tract between the compressor and the throttle, which can lead to the destruction of engine components such as the compressor impeller, turbocharger axle, cooler pipe and throttle.
However, in this technical solution, the energy of the exhaust gases is used inefficiently due to the discharge of exhaust gases into the atmosphere while reducing the engine speed. In addition, the solution in this patent application the problem of reducing the effect of the "turboyama" is not possible and even leads to its aggravation, since the opening of the bypass valve reduces the speed of rotation of the turbine, and accordingly, increases the time it reaches its nominal mode when the accelerator pedal is pressed
Known devices with controlled turbocharging (patent RU 2535468, patent application US2014 / 0069096 A1), in which the compressor output through a special bypass valve is communicated with its inlet, which allows directing excess compressed air to the compressor inlet. This solution, in addition to reducing the pressure at the inlet of the throttle valve, ensures that compressed air is within the intake system, which, to some extent, reduces the effect of the "turbo hole", avoiding a sharp decrease in the speed of rotation of the compressor impeller while reducing the engine speed.
However, the bypass valve cannot provide effective protection of the above engine components from overloads, but acts as a kind of shock absorber, mitigating the dynamic impact along the axis of the turbocharger. In addition, the movement of re-compressed air in a closed circuit leads to an increase in the temperature of the structural elements of the intake system and the temperature of the air supplied to the engine.
Known turbocharged devices (patent application US2014 / 015042 A1, patent US8406983), in which several turbines of different sizes are used to overcome the “turbojama” effect. In this case, depending on the engine speed, exhaust gases are directed to a specific turbine. However, this solution is structurally complex and reduces the overall reliability of the device.
Known devices for controlled turbocharging (patent RU 2425991, patent RU 2426896 and patent application US2013 / 0152583 A1), in which the effect of the "turbojam" is overcome by automatically adjusting the degree of turbocharging by changing the geometry of the turbine blades according to the corresponding commands of the control unit. The disadvantage of such devices is the insufficient reliability of operation, due to the resource wear of moving parts, resulting in excessive backlash and deposits appear, which is deposited in the actuator and violates the mobility of its parts.
The closest technical solution adopted as a prototype is a device with a controlled turbocharger (US2012 / 0186249 A1), which contains a turbocharger having a turbine, the inlet of which is connected to the output manifold of the internal combustion engine, and a compressor, the input of which is in communication with the air filter, and the output is in communication with the inlet of the cooler, the output of which is connected to the charge air supply channel with a throttle valve installed in it, an overflow valve installed between the output manifold of the internal combustion engine and the turbine outlet, a bypass valve installed between the cooler inlet and the compressor inlet, a charge-accumulator air in communication with the input manifold of the internal combustion engine, and a control unit, the information inputs of which are electrically connected to the sensors installed at the inputs of the compressor and throttle valve, at the input manifold, cylinder block and output manifold of the internal combustion engine, the control input of the control unit is connected to the sensor accelerator, and the control output is connected to the throttle.
In a known technical solution for the functioning of the charge air accumulator, the device contains special structural elements: an air filter, a compressor, a cooler and a valve installed at the inlet of the charge air accumulator.
This device protects the engine elements from excessive pressure of the charge air, and also controls the charge air in the intake manifold of the engine, and, as a result, increases the dynamics of control of the engine operation mode, which reduces the reaction time of the engine operation mode to a control action, for example, pressing accelerator pedals.
The charge air flow entering the engine intake manifold is controlled by the control unit according to the signals of the temperature and pressure sensors installed on the inlet and outlet nozzles, the engine cylinder block, at the compressor inlet and outlet, by changing the position of the throttle valve, bypass and bypass valves. At the same time, the programmed control algorithm ensures maximum approximation of the adjustment range to the preselected upper and lower limits of the compressor shaft rotation speeds taking into account the temperature and pressure of the intake and charge air, as well as the engine operating mode. Availability charge air accumulator, which is supplied to the engine intake manifold, can significantly compensate for the effect of the "turbo-hole".
However, in the known device for the functioning of the charge air accumulator, a special system is provided, including an air filter, a compressor, a cooler and a valve, which complicates the assembly of the device and leads to additional energy costs and increased fuel consumption. In addition, due to excessive discharge of exhaust gases through the bypass valve when closing the throttle valve, the turbine rotational speed decreases. The subsequent pressing of the accelerator pedal takes additional time to bring the turbine to the required mode, which reduces the dynamics of control of the flow of charge air and, as a result, worsens engine throttle response.

W The technical result of the device controlled turbocharging an internal combustion engine is to increase engine efficiency and dynamics of turbocharging control, as well as to significantly compensate for the effect of the "turbojam". This is ensured by the fact that the charge air enters the intake manifold of the internal combustion engine from one standard turbocharger through the first, main, and second, auxiliary channels, in each of which the volume of incoming charge air is regulated by controlled throttles. In this case, in the case of insufficient volume of charge air entering the first channel from the turbocharger, the charge air is supplied to the internal combustion engine from the charge air accumulator through the second channel until the turbocharger reaches the required performance for this engine operation mode. It should be noted that the speed of rotation of the turbine in the proposed device is more dependent on the position of the accelerator pedal and the associated engine speed, and not on the frequency of operation of the bypass valve, which allows to improve the dynamics of turbo control. Unlike the prototype in the patented device, charging of the charge air accumulator is carried out due to the energy of the exhaust gases, which does not require the introduction of additional energy-intensive units, in particular, an auxiliary compressor, into the design scheme.

Sensors 26, 27 are connected to the information inputs of the charge air controller 21, as well as a sensor 31 installed in the charge air accumulator 14, and the control inputs of the second throttle valve 17, the first and second electromagnetic valves 16,18, the first and second electronic are connected keys 23,24, respectively.
Device controlled turbocharging of an internal combustion engine operates as follows.
4. After starting the internal combustion engine 4, all exhaust gases coming from the exhaust manifold 6 are directed to the turbine 2 of the turbocharger 1, untwisting it and the compressor 3, which is located on the same shaft with the turbine 2. In this case, the bypass valve 10 and the bypass valve 11 in the absence of signals at their inputs are in a normally closed state. The air stream from the atmosphere through the air filter 19 enters the inlet of the compressor 3, in which the air stream of the input atmospheric air is compressed, its pressure and temperature increase, thereby forming a flow of “boost” air. The charge air is directed to the inlet of the cooler 8, after passing through the first channel 9 for supplying charge air through the throttle valve 10 and the check valve 1 1 enters the intake manifold 5 of the engine 4. The control input of the control unit 20 constantly receives a signal from the accelerator sensor 30, as well as information signals from the sensors 25-29. In accordance with these signals, as well as with predetermined programmed data, the control unit 20 generates a control signal that is supplied to the control input of the first throttle valve 10. In accordance with this signal, the first throttle valve 10 occupies a certain position that determines the amount of charge air entering in the input manifold 5 of the engine 4.
If the charge air pressure at the compressor output is exceeded, 3 values are programmed for the current operating mode of the engine 4, depending on the excess value, the control unit 20 generates signals to activate the bypass valve 12 or bypass valve 13. The generated signals are fed to the signal inputs of the first or second electronic keys 23, 24, respectively, which in the absence of a control signal from the charge air controller 21 are open. The same signals on the information bus 22 approach the information signals of the charge air controller 21, in accordance with which it generates a signal to open the first solenoid valve 16, as well as an information signal supplied through the information bus 22 to the control unit 20. During this period, the accumulator 14 is filled with charge air, while the second throttle valve 17 is closed. Information about the current pressure value in the charge air accumulator 14 from the sensor 31 is supplied to the charge air controller 21. When the pressure in the accumulator 14 reaches a predetermined limit value, the controller 21 generates a signal to turn off the first electromagnetic valve 16 and turn on the first and second electronic keys 23,24. In this case, the bypass valve 12 or the bypass valve 13 is turned on, depending on the signal input of which electronic key 23, 24 the control signal from the output of the control unit 20 is currently receiving.
10. With a sharp increase in the signal from the accelerator sensor 30, when the pressure in the input manifold 5 of the engine 4 is lower than the corresponding programmed value, the charge air controller 21, in accordance with the signal received via the information bus 22 from the control unit 20, generates a command to control the second throttle 17 and the team on opening the second solenoid valve 18. In this case, the intake manifold 5 of the engine 4 is filled through the second channel 15 for supplying charge air from the accumulator 14. The charge air controller 21 analyzes the information from the sensors 26 and 27, and when the charge air pressure at the compressor output 3 is reached, corresponding to a given mode, at the command of the charge air controller 21, the second solenoid valve 18 and the second throttle valve 17 are closed. The non-return valve 1 1 prevents passage over blow air from the accumulator 14 to the first throttle valve 10.
As described above, in contrast to the known technical solutions, the charge air from one standard turbocharger 1 enters the input manifold 5 of the internal combustion engine 4 through the first, main, and second auxiliary channels 9.15, in each of which the volume of incoming charge air is adjusted provided by controlled throttles 10, 17, respectively.
It should be noted that the charge air coming from the accumulator 14 due to the energy of the exhaust gases makes it possible to sharply increase the number of revolutions of the internal combustion engine 4, compensating for the effect of the “turboyama”. An increase in the number of revolutions of the engine 4 also leads to an automatic increase in the pressure of the exhaust gases in the exhaust manifold 7 and, as a result, to a corresponding increase in the number of revolutions of the turbine 2 and compressor 3. As a result, the pressure of the charge air at the inlet of the throttle valve 10 rapidly increases to values optimal for this mode of operation of the internal combustion engine 4, which significantly increases its throttle response.
A patented device for controlled turbocharging of an internal combustion engine increases the efficiency of the engine and the dynamics of turbocharging control, significantly reducing the effect of the "turbojam".
