A R E ST ING U NIT EXT E NSION SY ST E M F i el d of the I nventi on
The present invention relates to a resting unit extension system which is used for resting purposes in vehicles and which is extended to provide a more comfortable resting space in case of resting.
Background of the Invention
Heavy commercial vehicles are driven long distances due to their purpose of use and the drivers need to rest in the vehicle by stopping at resting stations or safe areas. For this purpose, there are bunks provided in the vehicles which enable them to rest without getting out of the vehicle. V ehicle sizes are limited by legal regulations and the area to be used in the cabin for driving and as living space is limited. The vehicle cabin is equipped with equipment such as an adjustable seat steering wheel, etc. which are suitably ergonomic for driving comfort and which enable people of different heights to find comfortable and safe driving positions; and comfort of the driver during resting time is also taken care of. For this purpose, it is aimed to provide the largest possible bunk area for use of the driver.
The fixed orvariable bunk area, which is used in the vehicles manufactured today, is in interaction with the other movable equipment in the cabin (such as the seat, storage area, etc.), and I i mits the size of the area to be used for the bunk due to the limited cabin size. The fixed or variable bunk area, which is used in the vehicles manufactured today, is in interaction with the other movable equipment in the cabin (such as the seat, storage area, etc.), and limits the size of the area to be used for the bunk due to the limited cabin size. In this case, it is not possible to extend the bunk area when the driver is using the seat. Since these mechanisms are operated by moving the entire bunk, they are large, heavy and expensive. Additionally, the fact that the extendable part of the bunk area is also situated in the cabin causes placement problems.
International patent document no. WO2006101427, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a bunk area which is enlarged by a method wherein the bunk is moved by foldable parts and hinges. However, this document describes a bunk area which differs in terms of the material of the mattress and the bunk extension method.
In the patent document no. E P2298630B1, an application known in the art, discloses a bunk which is concealed in a profile positioned on the cabin rear wall by the help of a fabric and for which, in cases where it is moved away from the wall by various hinge systems, the gap formed between itself and the wall is suggested to be covered. However, this document describes a bunk area which differs in terms of the material of the mattress and the bunk extension method.
