Description

DESCRIPTION
A FLUSHING APPARATUS
Subject of the Invention
The subject of the invention relates to a flushing apparatus, which is mounted on a ceramic sanitary ware to enable the bowl of the ceramic sanitary ware to be flushed, and to a method for flushing the bowl by the use of this system.
State of the Art Various flushing systems are available in the present state of the art for the ceramic sanitary ware, especially for the toilet bowls.
In the conduit-containing toilet bowls, the flush water for the inside of the bowl passes from the reservoir into the clean water inlet conduit of the toilet bowl and advances towards the front part of the toilet bowl with the help of the water distribution conduits on the toilet bowl, during which time the water is distributed into the toilet bowl with the help of the holes on the distribution conduit. On the other hand, in the toilet bowls that do not contain the conduits, the flush water for the inside of the bowl passes via the reservoir water connection of the toilet bowl into the clean water inlet conduit, advances directly towards the inside of the bowl via a guiding apparatus, a hole or a water distributing apparatus and advances along the lateral surface of the bowl to realize the flushing of the bowl.
According to the state of the art, the water outlet openings on the guiding apparatus, hole or water distributing apparatus are of the same size in the toilet bowls that do not contain the conduits. The water streams distributed into the toilet bowl proceed along the sides of the toilet bowl and join in the front part of the toilet bowl on the vertical axis to realize the flushing of the bowl. The fact that the openings on the apparatus or the hole that enable the output of water are of the same size causes the water streams to join at a point in the front part of the toilet bowl that is at an equal distance to the water outlet points from both the right and left lateral surfaces. The fact that said water outlet openings are of the same size causes the water streams advancing along both the right and left lateral surfaces of the toilet bowl to join in the front part of the toilet bowl with the same force, and thus, causes the water to rise and overflow the toilet bowl.
Brief Description of the Invention The subject of the invention relates to a flushing apparatus, which is mounted on a ceramic sanitary ware to enable the bowl of the ceramic sanitary ware to be flushed, and to a method for flushing the bowl by the use of this system.
The system developed within the scope of the invention is rather simple to be installed and the system may be mounted to the sanitary ware as a subsequent addition. By means of the flushing system developed within the scope of the invention, the water may be easily conveyed to the desired zones.
The flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention comprises at least one inner body (1), at least one outer body (2), at least one cover (3) and at least one flow rate regulating piece (4). The use of the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention in a toilet bowl will be described herein, wherein the flushing apparatus (A) is mounted on the toilet bowl as a subsequent addition and the apparatus may be easily demounted and subjected to the cleaning process. The flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention may be employed in both the toilet bowls with a bidet system and the toilet bowls without a bidet system. In case of the flushing apparatus (A) being employed in the toilet bowls equipped with a bidet system, a cover (3) with at least one hole (3a) thereon, in which hole at least one bidet nozzle (16) is to be positioned, will be used.

The subject of the invention relates to a flushing apparatus, which is mounted on a ceramic sanitary ware to enable the bowl of the ceramic sanitary ware to be flushed, and to a method for flushing the bowl by the use of this system.
The use of the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention on a toilet bowl will be described below.
The flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention comprises at least one inner body (1), at least one outer body (2), at least one cover (3) and at least one flow rate regulating piece (4).
The flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention further comprises the fixing pieces (5), the fixing members (8), and the sealing members (6) on the outer body and the sealing members (9) on the inner body. The flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention may be used both in the presence and absence of a bidet system. In case the apparatus is used in the presence of a bidet system, it comprises at least one bidet nozzle (16), at least one bidet nozzle gasket (24) and at least one hole (3a) on the cover (3) for positioning the bidet nozzle (16). In case the apparatus is used in the presence of a bidet system, at least one bidet water pipe (17) is fixed to the bidet water pipe mounting section (10) on the outer body (2) with the help of at least one toothed piece (18). Of the sealing members used in the flushing apparatus developed within the scope of the invention, the sealing member (6) positioned on the outer body is preferably a gasket and provides sealing between the surface of the toilet bowl and the apparatus according to the invention. The sealing members (9) positioned on the inner body are preferably each an o- ring and are positioned into at least one sealing member slot (la) on the inner body (1). The flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention is shown in Figure 1 in a state when used in a toilet bowl without a bidet system and is shown in Figures 5 and 6 in a state when used with a bidet system.
The flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention is mounted at the end of the clean water conduit (26) on the toilet bowl, i.e. in the housing (27) positioned at this location. It is also possible to use the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention in the toilets without a ring at the interior of the bowl. No nozzle is used in order to guide the water to the apparatus according to the invention. Unlike the systems employed according to the state of the art, the water comes not from the plumbing system but from the reservoir (25) and passes through the clean water conduit (26) to reach the flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention. It is possible to use the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention along with a bidet system as well as without a bidet system.
Whereas the toilet bowl is enabled to be flushed with the water coming via the holes or openings made on the toilet bowl in the use of the systems present in the present state of the art, the flushing is carried out with a flushing apparatus (A) that is mounted to the product as a subsequent addition in case the flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention is used. In order for the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention to be used, a housing (27) with appropriate size should be present on the toilet bowl to enable the mounting of the apparatus (Figure 11). This housing (27) is located at the end of the clean water conduit (26). The outer body (2) of the flushing apparatus, with the sealing member (6) on the outer body fitted thereon, is mounted in this housing (27).
The outer body (2) of the flushing apparatus is mounted on the toilet bowl with the help of the fixing pieces (5) and the fixing members (8). The outer body (2) comprises thereon the fixing legs (14) to be positioned on the fixing piece (5). The fixing pieces (5) comprise thereon both the slots (5a) for positioning the legs on the outer body where the outer body fixing legs (14) are to be positioned and the fixing member slots (5b) where the fixing members (8) are to be positioned. As can be seen in Figure 10c, the outer body (2) comprises at its interior section at least one bidet nozzle connection hole (2b) and at least one fixing member slot (2a). The outer body (2) according to the invention comprises at least three holes, namely one bidet nozzle connection hole (2b) and two fixing member slots (2a). The fixing legs (14) on the outer body enter the corresponding slots (5a) on the fixing pieces for positioning the legs on the outer body and the fixing members (8) are positioned both in the fixing member slots (5a) on the fixing pieces and in the fixing member slots (2a) on the outer body (2), and in this manner, the fixing pieces (5) are fixed on the outer body (2) as seen in Figure 4e. It is possible for the fixing members (8) to be fixed with the help of at least one washer (7). However, unless the fixing members (8) are tightened, the fixing pieces (5) may move on the outer body (2). In this way, the fixing pieces (5) fitted on the outer body (2) are pushed in the front direction as they pass through the housing (27) on the toilet bowl and assume an inclined position in the horizontal direction and they pass through the housing (27) in this state. After the fixing members (8) are tightened, they become straightened in the horizontal direction and since they are longer than the width of said housing (27), their passage through the housing (27) is prevented and the outer body (2) becomes secured on the housing (27). Said fixing members (8) are each preferably a screw. The outer body (2) comprises thereon at least one bidet water pipe mounting section (10), and in case the flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention is used along with a bidet system, at least one bidet water pipe (17) is mounted in this section. The bidet water pipe mounting section (10) comprises thereon at least one toothed section (10a) and the bidet water pipe (17) is mounted to this section with the help of at least one toothed piece (18).
The inner body (1) comprised by the apparatus developed within the scope of the invention is seen in Figures 8a-8g. The inner body (1) comprises thereon at least one sealing member slot (la) where at least one sealing member (9) on the inner body is to be positioned. The sealing member (9) on the inner body is positioned in said slot and said sealing member is an o-ring according to the preferred mode of use. The inner body (1) is fixed inside the outer body (2) in the manner of close fit owing to said sealing members (9) on the inner body. The inner body (1) in a state mounted on the outer body (2) is seen in Figures 4a-4f. The inner body (1) comprises thereon at least one entirely open side conduit (12) and at least one partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) and at least one middle conduit (11). Said entirely open side conduit (12) and said partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) are positioned at the right and left sides with respect the inner body center (lb), and the middle conduit (11) is positioned between the entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) in the lower section of the inner body in a way to be disposed in line with the inner body center (lb). The water flows through said conduits into the toilet bowl and performs the flushing process. One of the side conduits is open in a portion thereof and is closed to the passage of water in another portion thereof. As seen in Figure 4f, in order to obtain more efficient water flow and more satisfactory flushing process, the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) comprises both at least one side conduit open portion (13a) and at least one side conduit closed portion (13b). The other entirely open side conduit (12) is a conduit that is open throughout. In the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13), the side conduit open portion (13a) has a surface area in the range of 80-100 mm2 and the other entirely open side conduit (12) has a surface area in the range of 240-300 mm2. The difference in the diameters of the water outlet openings in the two side conduits prevents the water streams from joining in the front part of the toilet bowl, wherein the water streams coming out of the entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) and advancing along the toilet bowl join at the right or left side edge (28) of the toilet bowl and empty into the toilet bowl. The confluence of water (Y) in the front part of the toilet bowl according to the state of the art is seen in Figure 19. The fact that the water outlet openings in the entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) have different sizes causes the water to advance with different velocities along the two side edges (28) of the toilet bowl. Due to the more rapid advance of the water, which leads from the side conduit open portion (13a) having a smaller surface area or diameter, the water travels a greater distance on the water bowl and the confluence occurs at a point near the outlet point of the water leading from the other entirely open side conduit (12). Depending on the diameter of the side conduit open portion (13a), the water streams coming out of the entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) may join at different points on the toilet bowl to empty into the toilet bowl, as seen in Figure 18. The water streams advancing along the two side edges (28) of the toilet bowl may join at a point close to the entirely open side conduit (12) having a great diameter; in other words, they may join on the toilet bowl side edge (28) at a point on the side edge (28) in the section with the entirely open side conduit (12) having a great diameter, which point makes an angle of any value in the range of 60°- 120° with the confluence line (D) drawn from the clean water conduit to the toilet bowl center (C). And the confluent water empties from this point into the toilet bowl. Figure 19 shows the confluence of water (Y) in the flushing systems employed according to the state of the art wherein the water streams advance at an equal distance on both side edges of the toilet bowl and join at a point exactly in the front part of the toilet bowl equidistant from either outlet point, and Figure 19a shows the confluence of water (X) in case the flushing apparatus according to the invention is used wherein the water stream coming out of the opening with a small diameter advances more rapidly and the water streams coming out of both conduits join on the toilet bowl on the toilet bowl side edge (28). The fact that the water streams coming out of both side conduits advance at equal velocities and have equal forces leads the water to rise and splash out of the toilet bowl according to the state of the art. The problem of splashing is also precluded with the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention.
The entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) comprise the coves (15) in their lower sections. Said coves (15) enable the water flow to be more efficient. The inner body (1) comprises at the interior section thereof the protrusions (21) on the inner body for positioning the flow rate regulating piece (4). The inner body (1) comprises the recesses (19) on the inner body on the surface thereof where the cover (3) is to be positioned. The cover (3) is mounted on the inner body (1) via the bonding process according to the preferred mode of use and said recesses (19) on the inner body enable the bonding surface to be enlarged. At least one hole (20) is positioned on the inner body (1) for positioning the bidet nozzle (16). The inner body (1) comprises on the inner surface thereof an asymmetric guide (22) with an asymmetric structure, seen in Figures 8b, 8e, 8f and 8g. The asymmetric guide (22) can be seen in detail in Figures 11a, lib and 11c. The portion (22b) of the asymmetric guide (22) in the section with the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) is inclined in a way to guide the incoming water towards the side conduit open portion (13a), i.e. to guide the same in the upward direction. On the other hand, the portion (22a) of the asymmetric guide (22) in the section with the entirely open side conduit (12) is inclined in a way to guide the water towards the lower portion of the conduit that is open. In this way, the water streams guided by the asymmetric guide (22) with different angles and coming from both side conduits do not join exactly in the middle of the inside of the toilet bowl and this prevents the water from splashing out of the toilet bowl. The fact that the portions of the side conduits where the passage of water is allowed have different diameters, in other words, the fact that the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) is open on a portion thereof and closed on another portion thereof prevents the water from coming at the same power from both conduits.
The bidet nozzle (16) comprises thereon at least one bidet nozzle sealing member slot (16a) for positioning at least one sealing member, and owing to the sealing members positioned in said bidet nozzle sealing member slots (16a), the bidet nozzle (16) is secured to the bidet nozzle connection hole (2b) on the outer body (2) in a close fit manner. In case it is desired to use the apparatus according to the invention along with a bidet system, the bidet nozzle (16) passes, along with at least one bidet nozzle gasket (24), through the hole (20) on the inner body and is secured to the bidet nozzle connection hole (2b) on the outer body (2) in a close fit manner, as mentioned above. The flow rate regulating piece (4) comprised by the apparatus according to the invention is seen in Figures 9a-9b. The flow regulating piece (4) is positioned at the interior section of the inner body (1). The flow regulating piece (4) comprises thereon at least two water passage holes, namely a big hole (4a) that is bigger as compared to the other and a small hole (4b) that is smaller as compared to the other. The flow regulating piece (4) is, in its standard position, disposed within the inner body (1) such that the big hole (4a) will be located in the upper side, as seen in Figures 1 and 5. At this position, the arrangement is such that the water passage will occur through the big hole (4a). However, in cases where the water coming from the reservoir (25) lacks adequate power or where it is desired to obtain a stronger inflow of water, the positioning may also be performed such that the small hole (4b) will be located in the upper side. In other words, the arrangement is such that the water passage will occur through the small hole (4b). Consequently, the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention becomes also effective in increasing the flow rate of water in cases where it is desired to increase the flow rate so that more efficient flushing may be achieved according to the power of the water flow from the reservoir (25). The flow rate regulating piece (4) comprises thereon the fixing slots (23) in which the protrusions (21) on the inner body (1) are introduced. Upon the introduction of the protrusions (21) on the inner body in these fixing slots (23), the flow rate regulating piece (4) is fixed within the inner body (1).
In case the flushing apparatus (A) developed within the scope of the invention is used along with a bidet system, the bidet water pipe (17) is secured on the bidet water pipe mounting section (10) on the outer body via at least one toothed piece (18). The toothed piece (18) is fixed to the toothed section (10a) on the bidet water pipe mounting section (10) on the outer body by way of screwing together or fitting together the toothed surfaces.
While it is possible for the cover (3) used in the flushing apparatus according to the invention to be made from ceramic in a way to provide harmony with the toilet bowl, the possibility for the same to be made from a different material is also encompassed by the invention.
The flushing of the toilet bowl with the flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention is carried out based on the principle that the water, which begins to perform the free flow upon the pressing of the reservoir button, passes through the clean water conduit (26) to reach the apparatus according to the invention, passes through the outer body (2) to reach the inner body (1), enters the toilet bowl via the middle conduit (11), the entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed side conduit (13) made on the inner body (1) and performs the flushing in the toilet bowl. The water streams flow into the toilet bowl from both the right and left sides via the entirely open side conduit (12) and the partially open and partially closed conduit (13) present on the inner body (1), while a water stream also directly flows into the toilet bowl in the downward direction from the middle conduit (11) positioned in the middle section. The flow rate regulating piece (4) present on the inner body (1) is used in regulating the flow rate of the water coming from the reservoir (25). The flow rate regulating piece (4) is, according to the normal standard use, fixed in the inner body (1) such that the big hole (4a) on said piece will be located in the upper side, as seen in Figure 1, Figure 5 and Figure 6; however, in case the flow of water coming from the reservoir (25) is not adequate, the flow rate is increased by positioning the flow regulating piece (4) such that the small hole (4b) on said piece will be located in the upper side.
The flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention is quite useful in that it is easy to mount, it is able to realize the flushing process through a smooth distribution of the water coming from the clean water conduit (26), it presents an aesthetic appearance, it allows the use thereof in the toilet bowls with no ring and it is easy to be cleaned. Further, said flushing apparatus may be used in the toilet bowls with a bidet system as well as in the toilet bowls without a bidet system. Since it is not a monolithic unit and is formed by the demountable parts and since it is easy to be fitted to and removed from the toilet bowl, the cleaning process for the apparatus may be easily performed. Unlike the systems used according to the state of the art, the flushing apparatus (A) according to the invention is not integrally formed on the toilet bowl and it is an apparatus that is mounted to the product as a subsequent addition and that is able to be demounted for cleaning purposes whenever desired. The problem of splashing is also precluded owing to the water advancing with different velocities on the side edges of the toilet bowl as a result of the water outlet conduits with different diameters and emptying into the toilet bowl from a side edge thereof.
