The present invention relates to improvements in disinfecting toilets where a 5 quantity of a disinfecting material from a replaceable supply is released and mixed with the flushing water at each operation of the toilet.
Background
Generally the purpose of adding chemicals into the flushing water is to 10 disinfect the toilet flushing water and the toilet basin and to add a fresh fragrance.
Many different toilet fresheners and disinfectant for toilet bowls are known from prior art - all proposed to solve the problem of odour and to prevent
15 development of bacterial grow inside the toilet basin. There are for example toilet fresheners and/or disinfectant that can be fastened to the toilet rim with a clip formed on the holder or similar so that they are positioned in the interior of the toilet immediately beneath the toilet rim. When flushing water emerges from under the interior toilet rim, the flushing water flows over the holder or
20 similar comprising the toilet freshener and/or disinfectant. Such a toilet freshener are known, for example from EP 1 334 239 B1 . A disadvantage with this kind of toilet fresheners and/or disinfectant that can be fastened to the toilet rim is that small children can easily reach the device and get hurt by e.g. eating/swallowing the chemicals.

There also exist toilet fresheners and disinfectant suitable for being positioned inside the flushing cistern. However, a disadvantage with this kind of toilet fresheners and disinfectant is that they are covered with water for most of the time and will therefore more quickly dissolve in the water present 30 in the cistern. Another problem by placing the device inside the cistern is that, in case the cistern is not provided with a valve preventing backflow, a small
part of the water may re-enter the water supply system (run-back) which is unfortunate since the chemical could then end up in the drinking water.
Another toilet freshener and/or disinfectant is known from GB190917085 where a receptacle comprising a disinfectant is positioned inside a chamber and where the receptacle comprise holes in the bottom so that the flushing water mixed with the disinfectant will run out of the receptacle into the chamber from where it will flush mainly through the main outlet at the top of the basin or slowly percolates through outlets at the bottom of the chamber. The idea is that a part of the flushing water is being trapped in the chamber where it produces a strong solution of the disinfectant which afterwards percolates into the trap of the basin. A disadvantage with this setup is that the receptacle will be immersed into the flushing water for some time during every flush until the water has drained from the chamber.

Object and description of the invention
It is the object of the present invention to provide a toilet basin, a receptacle adapted to store a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, and
the use of both regarding improvements in disinfecting toilets where a quantity of a disinfecting material from a replaceable supply is released and mixed with the flushing water at each operation of the toilet.
The invention relates to a receptacle for coupling to an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin, the receptacle comprises:
- a housing adapted to store a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, the housing comprises:
o a bottom part comprising vertically positioned distance means on where the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material rest when in place; whereby the bottom part creates a chamber beneath the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material so that the chamber will retain a watery solution comprising the lower part of the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material also during times of no flushing when the receptacle, having stored therein a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, is coupled to an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin;
o a middle part comprising outlets arranged such that the disinfecting material can be released form the housing;
o a top part;
- a cap adapted to engage with and seal the housing upward.
In one or more embodiments the receptacle further comprises a sleeve comprising a rim adapted to rest against an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin. In one or more embodiments the receptacle further comprises a seal ring adapted to engage with the sleeve and for lining an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin.
In one or more embodiments the receptacle further comprises a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material. In one embodiment the supply containing the disinfecting material is a poorly soluble solid material. By poorly soluble is meant that the solid material doesn't dissolve too quickly.
The invention further relates to a toilet basin comprising such receptacle according to the invention fitted into an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of the top part of the toilet basin. In one embodiment the toilet basin comprising the receptacle further comprise a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material. The power of the flush is so powerful that the watery chemical solution trapped inside the chamber will be flushed up from there and travel round the rim and discharge into the toilet basin. At the same time a small part of the disinfectant material will be released at each flush and immediately travel round the rim and discharge into the toilet basin. The flushing water will run through the housing comprising the supply of disinfectant material crosswise on the way to the rim. During each flush a new part of the disinfectant material will dissolve in the small amount of water trapped inside the chamber of the receptacle comprising the lower part of the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material whereby a new strong solution of the disinfectant material is created inside the chamber - ready to be released during the next flush.
The invention also discloses the use of a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material for positioning inside a receptacle. In one embodiment the supply containing the disinfecting material is a poorly soluble solid material, such that the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material doesn't dissolve too quickly.
The invention also discloses the use of a receptacle for placement in a toilet basin such that said toilet is being disinfected when flushing due to that a
quantity of the disinfecting material from a replaceable supply is released and mixed with the flushing water at each operation of the toilet.
In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material is shaped as a block. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material is shaped as a stick. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material is designed so that the active substances are dissolved out of a solid matrix. Such solid active substance preparations are also known as rim blocks.
In a preferred embodiment is the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material made of a poorly soluble solid material, such that the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material doesn't dissolve too quickly. During flushing a quantity of the disinfecting material from a replaceable supply is released and mixed with the flushing water at each operation of the toilet. The dosing of the disinfecting material is thereby optimized and automated. This makes the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material more long lasting. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material comprises a chemical that destroys or fight bacteria. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material comprises a chemical that reduce the formation of lime scale. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material comprises a chemical that reduce or camouflage the bad smell. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material comprises a chemical that destroys or fight bacteria, a chemical that reduces the formation of lime scale and a chemical that reduces or camouflages the bad smell. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material comprises a colour - preferably blue, which indicates when it is time to
change the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material. When the blue colour fades in the flushing water, it is time to change the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material is wrapped in a protecting cellophane foil. The cellophane foil is meant to remain on the block or stick during mounting and will dissolve after a few flushing's. In one embodiment the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material also comprise a deodorizing material to reduce or camouflage the bad smell.
An advantage with the present invention is that the receptacle is easy to install. In one embodiment the sleeve together with the seal ring is mounted in the orifice followed by mounting of the housing followed by mounting of the cap. When it is time to change the supply of disinfectant material the cap is dis-mounted and a new supply of disinfectant material is placed in the housing before mounting the cap again. Another advantage is that the receptacle can be readily removed for renewing or for cleaning of the receptacle itself.
Since the receptacle with the supply of disinfectant material according to the present invention is placed after the cistern, the problem where the chemicals from the supply of disinfectant material can end up in the drinking water is avoided since the chemical is not part of the water that will re-enter the water pipe system (run-back) which is the case in some countries.
The present invention furthermore relates to a toilet basin comprising a receptacle according to the invention fitted into an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of the top part of the toilet basin comprising:
- a water trap part;
top part comprising:
o a flushing opening for receiving a flushing water flow;
o a distributing compartment for distributing the flushing water flow;
o a rim arranged to receive the flushing water flow from the distributing compartment and discharge it into the trap part of the basin during flushing;
wherein the distributing compartment comprises the orifice in an upward facing outer surface adapted for the receptacle to be fitted therein so that the flushing water flow passes through the distributing compartment before distributed to the rim, and wherein the distributing compartment where the receptacle is fitted is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed.
The distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed - that is; immediately after the flushing is completed the distributing compartment will be emptied of water. By substantially emptied of water is meant that a small amount of water could be left behind at the bottom of the distributing compartment after flushing depending on the design of the toilet basin and the distributing compartment. When the receptacle is fitted into the orifice and positioned primarily inside the distributing compartment the flushing water flow will flush through the receptacle positioned in the distributing compartment and afterwards be distributed to the rim and discharge into the water trap part of the basin. Since the distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed, the receptacle (when in place) will also be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed except for inside a chamber created beneath a replaceable supply containing the
disinfecting material when such is placed in the receptacle. So the receptacle will not be embedded in water in between flushings.
In one or more embodiments the toilet basin further comprises a flushing cistern coupled to the flushing opening.
In one or more embodiments the toilet basin further comprises at least two attachment orifices in an upward facing outer surface for attachment of a toilet seat, wherein the orifice adapted for a receptacle is positioned in between the at least two attachment orifices.
In one or more embodiments the orifice adapted for a receptacle has a diameter between 20 to 100 mm such as between 25 and 35 mm, such as between 28 and 32 mm. In one embodiment the orifice adapted for a receptacle has a diameter of 31 mm.
In one or more embodiments the flushing water flow discharge through holes placed around the circumference of the rim into the trap part of the basin during flushing. In one or more embodiments the flushing water flow discharge through an annulus of the rim into the trap part of the basin during flushing.
The present invention relates to improvements in disinfecting toilets where a quantity of a disinfecting material from a replaceable supply is released and mixed with the flushing water at each operation of the toilet.
The present invention is an alternative to known toilet disinfectors placed inside either the cistern or to the toilet rim inside the basis of the toilet. Brief description of the drawings

Description of preferred embodiments
The figures are schematic and simplified for clarity reasons, and they merely show details which are essential to the understanding of the invention, while other details have been left out.
Figure 1 shows a toilet basin 101 coupled to a flushing cistern 1 15 according to the present invention. The toilet basin comprises a water trap part 103 and a top part 105. The top part comprises a flushing opening (not visible on figure 1 ) for receiving a flushing water flow and a distributing compartment (not visible on figure 1 ) for distributing the flushing water flow. The top part further comprises a rim 1 1 1 which is arranged to receive the flushing water flow from the distributing compartment and discharge it into the water trap part of the basin during flushing. The distributing compartment comprises an orifice 1 13 in an upward facing outer surface adapted for a receptacle 201 (only partially visible on figure 1 ) to be fitted therein so that the flushing water flow passes through the distributing compartment before being distributed to the rim. The distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed - that is; immediately after the flushing is completed the distributing compartment will be emptied of water. When the receptacle is fitted into the orifice and positioned mostly inside the distributing compartment the flushing water flow will flush through the receptacle positioned in the distributing compartment and afterwards be distributed to the rim and discharge it into the water trap part of the basin. Since the distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed, the receptacle will also be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed except for the chamber 209 in the bottom part 205 of the housing 203 which will be described in more details in relation to figure 6 to 9. Figure 1 also shows two attachment orifices 1 17 in an upward facing outer surface for attachment of a toilet seat, wherein the orifice 1 13 adapted for a receptacle is positioned in between the at least two attachment orifices.
Figure 2 shows a toilet basin 101 coupled to a flushing cistern 1 15 according to the present invention where part of the interior of the basin and the flushing cistern are visible. On this figure the distributing compartment 109 is
visible and also the flushing opening 107 for receiving a flushing water flow. The distributing compartment 109 is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed - that is; immediately after the flushing is completed the distributing compartment will be emptied of water. In this figure the top part of the basin comprise holes placed around the circumference of the rim 1 19 through which the flushing water flow will flush when leaving the distributing compartment before being discharged into the water trap part of the basin during flushing. The distributing compartment comprises an orifice 1 13 in an upward facing outer surface adapted for a receptacle 201 to be fitted therein so that the flushing water flow passes through the distributing compartment and through the receptacle when in place before being distributed to the rim and afterwards be discharged into the water trap part of the basin through the holes placed around the circumference of the rim 1 19.
Figure 3 shows the toilet basis 101 coupled to a flushing cistern 1 15 according to the present invention as seen from above. On this figure it is clearly seen that the orifice 1 13 adapted for a receptacle is positioned in between the at least two attachment orifices 1 17 in an upward facing outer surface. The attachment orifices are for attachment of a toilet seat. The toilet seat can easily be detached from the attachment orifices to enable replacement of the receptacle and/or for changing the replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material. Figure 4 shows the toilet basin 101 coupled to a flushing cistern 1 15 according to the present invention cut down the middle line (section B-B) as indicated on figure 3. On this figure the receptacle 201 positioned in the orifice 1 13 is also cut down the middle showing the replaceable supply containing a disinfectant material 301 being positioned inside the receptacle. The flushing water flow will flush through the receptacle (comprising the replaceable supply containing a disinfectant material 301 ) positioned in the
distributing compartment and afterwards be distributed to the rim and discharge it into the water trap part of the basin through the holes placed around the circumference of the rim 1 19. Since the distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed, the receptacle will also be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed except for the chamber 209 (not clearly visible on figure 4) in the bottom part 205 of the housing 203 which will be described in more details in relation to figure 6 to 9. Figure 5 shows the toilet basin 101 according to the present invention cut through the line (section C-C) as indicated on figure 4. On this figure the distribution compartment 109 is visible and the holes placed around the circumference of the rim 1 19 are also visible. The receptacle is cut through the middle right through the replaceable supply containing a disinfectant material 301 being positioned inside the receptacle.
Figure 6 shows a close up of the distributing compartment 109 with a receptacle 201 fitted into the orifice in the upward facing outer surface of the top part 105 of the basin. The distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed - that is; immediately after the flushing is completed the distributing compartment will be emptied of water. Figure 6 clearly shows that when the receptacle is fitted into the orifice it will be positioned mostly inside the distributing compartment which entails that the flushing water flow will flush through the receptacle positioned in the distributing compartment and afterwards be distributed to the rim and discharge it into the water trap part of the basin. Since the distributing compartment is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed, the receptacle will also be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed except for the chamber 209 in the bottom part 205 of the housing 203 below the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material 301 . In this figure a "W" indicates where the water
will be placed in the chamber (the chamber is not visible as it is cut through the middle). Inside this chamber, the water solution present here will be increasingly stronger in between flushings due to the lower end part of the disinfecting material 301 being submerged in the water solution in the chamber 209, and during flushing the water solution inside the chamber will be flushed out through outlets (not visible on this figure) in the housing by the power of the flowing water.
Figure 7 shows all the individual parts of the receptacle 201 according to the present invention. The housing 203 which comprise a bottom part 25, a middle part 21 1 and a top part 215. The housing can be made of ABS or any other suitable material. The bottom part comprises vertically positioned distance means 207 on where the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material 301 rest when in place; whereby the bottom part creates a chamber 209 beneath the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material so that the chamber will retain a watery solution comprising the disinfecting material also during times of no flushing when the receptacle, having stored therein a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, is coupled to an orifice 1 13 in an upward facing outer surface of a top part 105 of a toilet basin 101 . The middle part comprises outlets 213 arranged above the top of the distance means 207 such that the disinfecting material can be released form the housing. Besides the housing the receptacle also comprise a cap 217 to seal the outwards opening to the housing and a cover 223 which in one embodiment is adhered by an adhesive material 231 to the cap or in another embodiment is casted together with the cap. The cap with the cover is the only part of the receptacle that is visible when the receptacle is correctly placed in an orifice in a top part of a toilet basin as seen in e.g. figure 1. The cap with the cover is mounted together with the housing by way of a thread or a bayonet joint or any other suitable way. The receptacle also comprise a sleeve 219 and a seal ring 221 where the sleeve comprises a rim 229 adapted to rest against an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a
toilet basin. The sleeve can be made of polypropylene (PP) or any other suitable material. The seal ring is adapted to engage with the sleeve and for lining the opening of the orifice in the top part of the toilet basin. The seal ring can be made of an elastic material such as thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) or any other suitable elastic material. Besides the above mentioned parts the gathering of the receptacle in one embodiment also makes use of a number of O-rings. On figure 7 is shown an O-ring for cap 225 and an O-ring for housing 227, but the O-rings are optional. The above mentioned materials are only suggestions. A skilled person would easily be able to use other materials than the ones mentioned without changing the scope of the invention.
Figure 8 shows the receptacle 201 according to the present invention positioned in an orifice 1 13. In this figure the outlets 213 in the middle part 21 1 is seen clearly. The outlets are arranged such that the disinfecting material from the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material 301 positioned inside the housing 203 can be released form the housing during flushing. Figure 9 shows the receptacle 201 according to the present invention cut through the middle (section A-A). In this figure the bottom part 205 comprising vertically positioned distance means 207 on where the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material 301 rest is clearly seen. The bottom part creates a chamber 209 beneath the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material 301 so that the chamber will retain a watery solution comprising the disinfecting material also during times of no flushing when the receptacle, having stored therein a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, is coupled to an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin. The middle part 21 1 comprises outlets 213 arranged such that the disinfecting material can be released form the housing 203. In this figure it is also possible to see the sleeve 219 with
the rim 229 resting on the upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin and the seal ring which engage with the sleeve and also line the opening of the orifice in the top part of the toilet basin. The cap 217 with the cover 223 is fastened to the housing so that the inside of the housing with the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material 301 is sealed against the surroundings.

Claims
1. A receptacle for coupling to an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin, the receptacle comprises:
- a housing adapted to store a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, the housing comprises:
o a bottom part comprising vertically positioned distance means on where the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material rest when in place; whereby the bottom part creates a chamber beneath the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material so that the chamber will retain a watery solution comprising the lower part of the replaceable supply containing the disinfecting material, also during times of no flushing when the receptacle, having stored therein a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material, is coupled to an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin;
o a middle part comprising outlets arranged such that the disinfecting material can be released form the housing;
o a top part;
- a cap adapted to engage with and seal the housing upward.
2. A receptacle according to claim 1 further comprising a sleeve comprising a rim adapted to rest against an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin.
3. A receptacle according to claim 2 further comprising a seal ring adapted to engage with the sleeve and for lining an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin.
4. A receptacle according to any of claims 1 to 3 further comprising a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material.
5. A receptacle according to claim 4 where the supply containing the disinfecting material is made of a poorly soluble solid material.
6. A toilet basin comprising a receptacle according to any of claims 1 to 5 fitted into an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of the top part of the toilet basin, where said toilet basin comprising:
- a water trap part;
a top part comprising:
o a flushing opening for receiving a flushing water flow; o a distributing compartment for distributing the flushing water flow;
o a rim arranged to receive the flushing water flow from the distributing compartment and discharge it into the trap part of the basin during flushing;
wherein the distributing compartment comprises the orifice in an upward facing outer surface adapted for the receptacle to be fitted therein so that the flushing water flow passes through the distributing compartment before distributed to the rim, and
wherein the distributing compartment where the receptacle is fitted is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed.
7. A toilet basin according to claim 6, comprising a flushing cistern coupled to the flushing opening.
8. A toilet basin according to claim 6 or 7, comprising at least two attachment orifices in an upward facing outer surface for attachment of a toilet seat, wherein the orifice adapted for the receptacle is positioned in between the at least two attachment orifices.
9. A toilet basin according to any of claims 6 to 8, where the orifice adapted for the receptacle has a diameter between 20 to 100 mm such as between 25 and 35 mm, such as between 28 and 32 mm.
10. A toilet basin according to any of claims 6 to 9, where the orifice adapted for the receptacle has a diameter of 31 mm.
1 1 . A toilet basin according to any of claims 6 to 10, where the flushing water flow discharge through holes placed around the circumference of the rim into the trap part of the basin during flushing.
12. A toilet basin according to any of claims 6 to 1 1 where the flushing water flow discharge through an annulus of the rim into the trap part of the basin during flushing.
13. Use of a receptacle according to any of claims 1 to 5 for disinfection, wherein the receptacle is coupled to an orifice in an upward facing outer surface of a top part of a toilet basin.
14. Use of a receptacle according to claims 13, where said toilet basin comprising:
- a water trap part;
- a top part comprising:
o a flushing opening for receiving a flushing water flow; o a distributing compartment for distributing the flushing water flow;
o a rim arranged to receive the flushing water flow from the distributing compartment and discharge it into the trap part of the basin during flushing;
wherein the distributing compartment comprises an orifice in an upward facing outer surface adapted for the receptacle to be fitted therein so that the flushing water flow passes through the distributing compartment before distributed to the rim, and
wherein the distributing compartment where the receptacle is fitted is arranged to be substantial emptied of water when the flushing is completed.
15. Use of a receptacle according to claim 14, wherein the toilet basin further comprises a flushing cistern coupled to the flushing opening.
16. Use of a receptacle according to claim 14 or 15, wherein the toilet basin further comprises at least two attachment orifices in an upward facing outer surface for attachment of a toilet seat, wherein the orifice adapted for the receptacle is positioned in between the at least two attachment orifices.
17. Use of a receptacle according to any of claims 14 to 16, where the orifice adapted for the receptacle has a diameter between 20 to 100 mm such as between 25 and 35 mm, such as between 28 and 32 mm.
18. Use of a receptacle according to any of claims 14 to 17, where the orifice adapted for a receptacle has a diameter of 31 mm.
19. Use of a receptacle according to any of claims 14 to 18, where the flushing water flow discharge through holes placed around the circumference of the rim into the trap part of the basin during flushing.
20. Use of a receptacle according to any of claims 14 to 19 where the flushing water flow discharge through an annulus of the rim into the trap part of the basin during flushing.
21 . Use of a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material for positioning inside a receptacle according to any of claim 1 to 5.
22. Use of a replaceable supply containing a disinfecting material according poorly soluble solid material.
