(E) BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
(1) FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to shoulder strap holders attachable to for holding in place the strap of shoulder bags or the like and, more particularly, to a shoulder strap holder which includes releasable gripping means to allow the strap to separate readily from the holder when subjected to excessive loading.
(2) BACKGROUND
It is often convenient and at times necessary to carry an object by means of attaching a strap to the object and draping the strap across the shoulder. Camera equipment and accessories, luggage, and golf bags are often carried in this manner, providing the individual with at least one free arm. The postal carrier's mail bag is also transported in this manner. The shoulder of the average person slopes downwardly from the base of the neck to the upper and outer portion of the arm. As a consequence of this anatomical feature, shoulder straps tend to slide down and off the shoulder. Increasing the weight of the object being carried multiplies the downward force applied to the strap, and increases the likelihood that the strap will slip off the shoulder. This is particularly so for women and those individuals not having broad perpendicular shoulders. Furthermore, because of the weight of such carried objects, the strap frequently cuts into the shoulder, and also causes soreness from holding the shoulder in such a way that the strap does not slide.
There have been on sale and in public use in the U.S. shoulder strap holders, sometimes referred to as shoulder handbag hooks, which comprise a strap receiving member of elongated substantially U-shape. Such strap receiving members typically include pin-type attachment means fixed to their underside opposite the hook portion to permit the holder to be secured to garment material. The pin of such prior art devices is aligned with the strap receiving hook portion and as a result when a load is applied thereto it is concentrated on the garment material in a small area at one end of the pin. This produces undue wear on the material. Pads used to cushion and retain shoulder straps are known. Some prior art discloses a base plate with a strap holding clip having a hold down pivotally mounted arm and appropriate pads between the user and the base plate. Another prior discloses a foldable shoulder strap pad having hook and loop fasteners for the pad and frictional elements on the pad to prevent displacement along the engaged strap segment. Furthermore prior arts also discloses a triangular or wedge shaped non-slip strap pad which is anatomically and biomeehanically designed to take advantage of the user's shoulder and also pad for shoulder straps includes a fluid-filled envelope which can slid over the strap and be positioned on the users shoulder.
Although the above sited prior arts addresses particular issues, the present invention provides an improved means of securing the holding stripes of hanging over the shoulder of a user.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is a jewelry shoulder strap holder which is used to prevent straps of (but not limited) bags or purse hanging on the shoulder of a person from falling. The jewelry shoulder strap holder comprises of a body member with a collapsible member and a base member having a top surface for a decorative design and a lower surface with a plurality of compartments and non-slipping strap and a means on said body member for securing said body member on to a shoulder strap.
