  • the fourth tent support 2520 comprises a pole member 2520a including a threaded base, for receiving the threaded tip of the third tent support 2515, and a threaded tip 2530, for connecting to a case of a camping system, and supporting same.
  • the case may include corresponding threaded portions incorporated into a base thereof to enable such attachment. This enables the case to be supported off of the motorcycle, for example of the motorcycle is temporarily used elsewhere.
  • the pole member 2520a may be about 15mm in width.
  • the tent supports are advantageously telescopic to enable compact storage, which enables the supports to be transported in the case on the back of a motorcycle.
  • Figure 26 illustrates a base plate 2600, according to an embodiment of the present invention.
  • the base plate 2600 is similar to the base plate 1300, and is configured to support the third tent support 2515 on the ground [00145]
  • the base plate 2600 includes a central support pad 2605, and first and second side pads 2610 that fold outwards from the central support pad 2605 by a hinge 2615. Once folded out, the first and second side pads 2610 lie in the same plane as the central support pad 2605, and thus extend a support area provided by the base plate 2600.
  • the base plate 2600 further includes a channel 2620, for receiving the base of the third support member 2515.
  • the pressure clip studs 2535 of the third support 2515 engage with apertures of the channel 2620, to retain the third support member 2515 to the base plate 2600.
  • first and second portions of the hinge may include shaped apertures, which align at a fully open state, through which a correspondingly shaped locking key is inserted to prevent movement of the hinge.
  • the shaped apertures may be rectangular.
  • Figure 27 illustrates a side view of a case 2700, adapted for use on a personal watercraft (PWC), according to an embodiment of the present invention.

  • the front portion 2705 may include insulated sidewalls, to prevent high ambient air temperatures from heating an inside of the front portion 2705.
  • the front portion includes a drainage bung, for enabling water or other liquid to be drained therefrom, and rubber seals around a lid 2720 thereof.
  • the central portion 2710 houses a refrigerant compressor for refrigerating the front portion, an air compressor, for inflating the inflatable tent, a battery, and a controller, as described in further detail below.

  • the central portion 2710 includes an air vent, to allow heat to escape, and air to move around the compressor for cooling, and a lid 2735, for providing access to the central portion 2710.
  • the central portion 2710 further includes a control panel 2740, coupled to the controller, for controlling the battery and compressor.
  • the control panel 2740 enables the compressor to be turned on (in forward or reverse mode to inflate or deflate), the temperature of the fridge to be set and displayed, and a pressure of the tent frame to be viewed.
  • the control panel 2740 may include plugs for USB, power, radio, etc.
  • the control panel 2740 may be water resistant, or include a water resistant cover (not illustrated).
  • the rear portion 2715 is for storing the inflatable tent, and is angled downwards about 45 degrees off a plane of the front and central portions 2705, 2710. By being angled downwards, the rear portion 2715 is able to fit closely to the body of the PWC, which assists in providing stability and reducing air resistance.
  • the rear portion 2715 similar to the front portion, includes a drainage bung, for allowing drainage of water after tent is packed up.
  • a lid 2745 of the rear portion includes an internal hydraulic strut 2750, to help open and close the rear portion.
  • the strut 2750 may hold the lid 2745 open, and/or control the closing of the lid 2745 to prevent slamming.
  • the controller may be coupled to a current flow meter, for measuring a current in the water below or near the tent when in use.
  • the controller is then configured to issue an alarm in case the current increases, which may indicate flash flooding, or another environmental event.
  • the controller may monitor a pressure of the inflatable tent, and issue an alarm to warn user of deflation, e.g. based upon deflation rate or threshold pressure. This is particularly advantageous when the tent is used for sleeping, as it may allow the user to escape the tent, and potentially perform repairs before the tent is entirely deflated.
  • the case includes locks (not illustrated), much like the locks 120, to prevent unauthorised opening of the case, and to prevent the case from inadvertently opening while riding.
  • the case 2700 has a concave front 2755, which is configured to be placed adjacent to a back of the rider of the PWC.
  • the concave front 2755 helps distribute a force if the case should impact the rider, and thus prevents injury.
  • the camping system to be fitted to a various motorcycles, including touring, off-road and cruising motorcycles, agricultural motorcycles including ATVs, as well as watercraft, such as various PWC (jet-skis), because of adjustable brackets.
  • the camping systems include a solar panel (or flexible solar mat) incorporated into a roof portion, or a case portion of the system, and coupled to a battery.
  • the solar panel may be configured to charge the battery while on the motorcycle or watercraft (e.g. while being ridden or used), and or when being used as a tent.
  • any type of battery may be used with the camping systems described above, including a 20AH-26AH deep cycle battery (e.g. gel) with bracket to prevent movement.

  • the tent and case are separable. This enables multiple tent designs fit into a single case, which decreases manufacturing costs, and provides increased flexibility.
  • a compressor is provided in an accessory box of the system, for pumping up an inflatable mattress of the camping system, or a framework of the camping system.
  • the battery is wired to alternator of the motorcycle or the watercraft. This enables the battery to be charged, even when the solar panel is not used, or in pool solar conditions.
  • windows of the camping system are closable internally. This enables the user to seal the tent in case it starts raining, without needing to go outside.

Abstract

L'invention concerne des systèmes de camping pour motocyclettes et embarcation, et une articulation à pivot qui peut être utilisée avec les systèmes de camping. Le système de camping pour motocyclettes comprend un boîtier destiné à être couplé à une motocyclette et une tente couplée au boîtier.
