BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Production of palm oil has huge economic significance in many developing countries. Loose oil palm fruits which are parts of the oil palm fresh fruit bunches [FFB] are used for the production/extraction of the oil palm. The palm oil extraction process can be generalized by the following major steps i.e. collecting and sterilizing/disinfecting the FFB, conveying the sterilized FFB in cages and subsequently unloading them into containers, assimilating the fruits to produce a assimilated crush under controlled temperature and pressing of the assimilated crush for the subsequent extraction of oil.
Conventionally, loose oil palm fruits are collected manually from the field.. The loose oil palm fruits collected contain a huge amount of debris (leaves, soil coat, stones etc.) that is generally filtered out in mills. Hence, significant amount of money is wasted in carrying the loose oil palm fruits along with the debris to the mill.
The raking or manual collection of loose oil palm fruits contains minimum 5% to maximum 20% debris. Then, is the loose oil palm fruits are sent for cleaning or segregating from debris to produce better quality loose fruits for further processing.
Hence, in the light of above, it is desirable to devise a reliable loose oil palm fruit segregating machine and a method for segregating the loose oil palm fruits that should be capable of overcoming the one or more limitations of the prior art. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
