Definitions

  • the invention relates to apparatus for locking and unlocking a closure, particularly to such apparatus for providing a securing and/or locking of a gate closure such as an agricultural or farm gate.
  • Such agricultural gates are often of metal or wood, and are hinged at one end of a frame thereof to a gate post, being latched shut by a latch on an opposite side of the frame engaging with an adjacent gate post.
  • Such latches are often locked with a separate padlock, but they are vulnerable to damage or vandalism as they can be attacked by for example bolt cutters. Livestock or equipment in a field can be stolen, leading to expensive losses and repair or replacement of the gate closure.
