Abstract

A dust collector (1) comprising an adjustable outer rim of a basically flat piece of flexible semi-transparent material with angular cutouts along one circumferential edge, said cutouts forming a plurality of flaps or tabs (4). The outer rim is adapted to be rolled up into a cylinder and be maintained in this form by a locking device (3), wherein the flaps (4) overlap each other and form a partial bottom The dust collector (1) comprises a suction port/spigot (5) for coupling with a suction device. The dust collector (1) is optionally adapted to be used with a drill for collection and removal of dust from a drilling process.

Description

Adjustable dust collector with exhaust pipe
The invention relates to a dust collector comprising an adjustable flexible outer rim, wherein the circumference forms a cavity that is partially dust-proof and can be mounted on an extraction system, for example a vacuum cleaner that directs the collected dust / shavings away from the cavity (collector dish) and can be used for various different sizes of tools and equipment (drill, hollow drill, hole saw etc.), and can be adjusted without the use of tools, wherein the diameter of the outer ring is variable and may be adjusted and locked with a easily manageable locking / closing device, such as velcro tape or snap lock without being exhaustive. The collector can be used in any angle against a flat surface vertically or horizontally.
The problem that is addressed by this invention is to provide a tool having an adjustable size and that is applicable for all tasks for optimal collection and disposal of dust and shavings typically produced when drilling or surface milling, as well as the disposal of the such dust and shavings so that the person performing the task is not exposed to dust or other particles in the face, eyes or mouth and respiratory systen. The collector is designed so that it can be prepared and fitted at the production site of a craftsman or DIY person.
The collector is different from known types and designs since it is adjustable and thus can be used in a variety of tools having different size and diameter, and the outer ring consists of a flexible wall that can easily change the diameter with a locking device and can be locked in the desired size. Known collectors, such as KR20140004498 (U), CN203765593 (U), KR20140006187 (U), US20151 10566 (A1), W02015010173 or CN203830787, all comprise of a bowl having a fixed outer diameter, typically a molded bowl or cup. The collector according to the invention further differs by the production phase, as it is punched, cut and / or cut plane in a flexible material, which is subsequently set by users in the desired shape and locked in the desired size. The collector is neither fitted onto the machine nor the drill bit but is kept around the drilling tool and is pressed against the surrounding surface. It also means that the collector can be moved easily and without tools from job to job and is easily emptied from drill residuals that are too large to be sucked away by means of the vacuum cleaner machine coupled to the collector. The collector can after use be opened and unfolded planarly to become down sized for transportation and storage, for example in a toolbox, or when it is to be delivered from production to sale. The collector is significantly less spacious in all phases, as well as less energy demanding in production and packaging. The outer rim can be made in several different flexible materials and thicknesses thereof. However, optimally clear transparent materials are used, which allow the user to follow the work process and keep the tool in the right position. Finally, the collector is more useful than prior art devices for drilling machines equipped with saw drill bits since these may be shifted without removing the collector.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Figure 1 shows the unfolded device with punching / cutting perforations and tabs which upon assembly overlap each other.
FIG.2 shows Figure 1 when assembled into a rim and equipped with a suction port.
Fig.3 shows 1) the dust collector with the overlap of the outer rim allowing of variable diameter; 2) measurement device for reading the rim diameter; 3) locking device, for example velcro closure; 4) foldable flaps, which prevent dusting and provide closure in order to create vacuum; 5) suction port for mounting on eg. vacuum cleaner hose.
FIG.4 shows mounting of the suction port/pipe, velcro tape and measuring device.
FIG. 5 shows same as Fig. 4, rotated so that the suction port/pipe is visible.

Claims

PATENT CLAIMS
1. A dust collector comprising an adjustable outer rim of a basically flat piece of flexible and preferably semi-transparent material with angular cutouts along one circumferential edge, said cutouts forming a plurality of flaps or tabs (4), said outer rim being adapted to be rolled up into a cylinder and be maintained in this form by a locking device (2), wherein the flaps (4) overlap each other and form a partial bottom, said dust collector comprises a suction port/spigot (5) for coupling with a suction device, such as a vacuum cleaner, and optionally said dust collector is adapted to be used with a drill for collection and removal of dust and cutting residues from a drilling process.
2. A dust collector according to claim 1 characterized in that the outer rim diameter of the coiled shape is adjustable so that the dust collector may be used in drilling with drill bits of different sizes and diameters.
3. A dust collector according to claim 2 characterized in that the suction port (5) is suitable to act as a handle.
4. A dust collector according to claim 3 characterized by being adapted to function properly without being fixed to a drill or similar machines for sawing or grinding.
5. A dust collector according to claim 4 characterized in that the locking device (2) is re-openable so that the outer rim after use can be brought back to flat form.
